She merely stroked his hair, drawing him against her chest, his lips softly kissing her nipple, and once again the hot tears came. He didn’t know from whence they came, but come they did. Embarrassed, he tried to stop the sobs from wrecking his body, but then she softly started humming a soothing melody and he was reduced to a sobbing mess, just like the night before.
The hold this girl held over him scared and fascinated him, and as he felt his cock rest inside her soft flesh, he knew he would never leave her—he simply couldn’t.
He loved her too damn much…
As they lay exhausted yet exhilarated, Erin thought she could want nothing more after today’s experience, and yet there was that curious remark Burke had made that morning.
She pressed a loving kiss on Ram’s temple.
“Ram?”
“Mh?”
“Burke… he said something.”
Ram groaned. “What did he tell you now? I swear that guy’s more prone to jabbering than any woman I know—present company excluded.”
“He said something about your fondness for… backdoor sex? I was just wondering what that was all about?”
Ram was silent for a beat. “Did he really say that?”
“Uh-huh.”
Ram weighed his words before answering. “It’s not something you should concern yourself with, honey. It’s just that…”
He wondered how he could ever explain it to her. She was so innocent and pure, and he inwardly cursed Burke for telling her such a stupid thing.
“You like to have sex by the back door? Is that it?”
In spite of himself, he had to laugh. “Not exactly, honey. What Burke meant to tell you was that I like…”
He looked up, supporting his head on his elbow.
Her eyes were wide and innocent. “Yes?”
“People can have sex in many different ways. Many different positions. You know that, right?”
She looked offended. “Of course I know. I may be a virgin—
was
a virgin—but I’ve heard all the stories. I was just saving myself up for… someone special,” she quickly added, clearly feeling the need to explain.
“One of those ways is when a man puts his penis inside a woman’s… behind.”
Her eyes were round as saucers now. “Eww. And you like that sort of thing?”
He shrugged. “I… used to like it. Only when my partner agreed, of course, and enjoyed it just as much as I do. Did.”
“There’s actually women who like that sort of thing?”
He winced slightly. “Uh-huh. More than a few, actually.”
She seemed to ponder this. Then gave him a sly smile. “Wanna try?”
“Erin, honey—”
“No, I mean, if it’s what you want, then why not try, you know. How will I ever know if I like it or not?”
“Perhaps later,” he said gently.
She looked down at his restful figure, and was struck again by the powerful emotions he elicited in her. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for this man, nothing she would say no to. He was her life, her future, her all. If he wanted to fuck her up the bottom, she was ready to give him that simple pleasure, even if she’d always thought it a little… disgusting. And probably really painful.
She lay back, playing with a tendril of his hair, and smiled. She’d never been in this position before, so wrapped up in another human being. The feeling was completely new to her.
It was as if she had nowhere to go, nothing to do but be here with him, for all of eternity if she could. Even her own family had started to fade into the background, her mom and dad so far away now, they appeared to live in a different reality than her own. She wasn’t the same Erin Walters who’d arrived in India only yesterday. In these twenty-four hours a change had taken place in her heart, and now all she could see was him when she glanced into the future.
“Do you want to know why I didn’t allow you to pull out?” she murmured.
“Actually, I do. You
are
on the pill, right?”
She shook her head dreamily. “I was, but I stopped a couple of weeks ago, after I broke up with Bart.”
He sat up with a jerk. “But honey, you might get pregnant.”
“I don’t mind, Ram. In fact I want to be pregnant.”
“But Erin. You’re much too young to have a baby.”
“I’m twenty-three,” she said a little indignantly. “Mom had me when she was twenty-four. Of course, she and Dad were married by then.”
Ram closed his eyes. So that’s what this was about. She wanted not just him but the full package. Marriage, a family… And for some strange reason, he wanted nothing more than to give all that to her. Only, he couldn’t. Not just yet. Perhaps not ever, if things went wrong.
“Look, honey,” he said as gently as he knew how. “I love you. I mean, as crazy as this sounds after only knowing you for such a short time, I feel so much love for you—”
“But?”
“I didn’t want to tell you this, but there’s something I need to do. Something potentially… dangerous.” He wondered how much he should tell her, and decided against telling her everything. She would only worry.
“Dangerous? What is it, Ram? What’s going on?” The panic was clear in her voice, and he hurried to ease it.
“Just something I have to do. It’s the reason I asked Burke to come over from the States. We’re in this thing together.”
“Does it have something to do with this environmental project you’re developing? Burke told us about that. Saving the beaches?”
Ram closed his eyes in dismay. That Burke really couldn’t keep his trap shut now could he? He nodded. “It’s got everything to do with it. Though Burke really shouldn’t have told you.”
She sat up a little straighter. “Oh, but I’m glad he did. I think it’s great that you’re trying to save the environment.”
“Well, that remains to be seen. I had a little setback today.” He quickly told her about the meeting he’d had with the company developing the land. How they’d turned down his proposal to find the right balance between opening up the place for tourism and respecting the original inhabitants and the environment at the same time.
“The bastards,” Erin said heatedly, balling her small hands into fists. Her tits swayed with the motion, and he thought she looked adorable. Almost as adorable as when she was pinned beneath him as he was thrusting away inside her. He quickly drove away the thought, though his cock was twitching again, ready for action once more.
Erin thought she saw the lust return in his gaze, as his eyes dipped down to her bosom. She could definitely feel the heat mirrored in her belly, aching once again to be filled by him.
God, was this all they were going to do from now on? Stay hunkered down in this cabin making love morning, noon and night? She didn’t mind, she happily decided. She could live like that, as long as he was with her she could live like this forever.
With some effort, she yanked her mind back to his environmental plans. “So what are you going to do now?”
“Like I said, I have a plan in place. It’s a little dangerous, perhaps, but if everything works out the way I anticipate, I should be able to save these beaches from destruction.”
She sat back, crossing her legs. “Why is this stretch of beach so important to you, Ram? I mean, I can tell it holds some special significance in your heart.”
He wavered for a moment. Should he tell her? Then he decided not to keep any secrets. She’d already looked into his heart, there was nothing more to hide. “My parents fell in love here, spent their honeymoon here, and returned every year for the thirty years they were married.”
She smiled. “They fell in love? Here?”
“Right in this spot.”
She looked around the small cabin, as if seeing it in a new light. “They… made love here? Just like we?”
His eyes sparkled. “I was conceived here, if I’m to believe the stories.”
Her smile spread to her eyes, and she lit up before heaving an ecstatic sigh. “What are the odds, huh? You and I…” She flipped over on her belly, the soft bare cheeks of her behind winking up at him. “…in the exact same place as your parents… making love, just like them.”
He swallowed. His cock was twitching again, ready for action once more.
“Yes,” he murmured. “What are the odds?”
Burke looked up when he thought he heard a sound. Then deciding it was just a twig scratching the small bedroom window, he relaxed. He was smoking a cigar, and the aroma clearly didn’t appeal to Sophie, who was lying next to him on the small one person cot.
“Can’t you do that later, Burke?” she grumbled. “I mean, the after fuck smoke? That’s such a cliché. And I can’t breathe with that foul stench.”
Burke considered this. He was a man of powerful tastes, and he either liked or disliked things—or people for that matter—or he simply didn’t care.
His cigars were one of the things he cared deeply about, but so was sex. And now he was going to have to decide which was more important to him. He glanced over at Sophie, her delectable body spread out across his bed like a mouth-watering dish. He decided the cigar could wait, and he quickly snuffed it out in the ashtray he always kept nearby.
“Sorry, honey,” he intoned. “It’s a filthy habit, I know.”
“You should really stop smoking, Burke,” she said with surprising consideration. “Those things will kill you.”
He gave her a half-smile, wondering when she’d started caring about his health. “That’s very sweet of you to say, Sophie, but I didn’t think you cared.”
“I do care,” she said a little indignantly. “What do you think we’re doing here?
“Sex?” he offered.
She looked hurt, and he immediately regretted his callousness.
“So that’s what this is to you, huh? Simply a good lay?”
The qualification good was certainly correct, he mused. In fact, sex with Sophie was just about the best he’d had in years. She had a lust for it that easily matched his own, and she gave as well as she took, was open to try anything, and in general was so uninhibited and natural about the whole thing that he was still surprised at his good fortune of having met her in the first place.
He decided to change the subject to avoid unpleasantness. “What do you think about your friend Erin and Bradley, huh? They a real item or what?”
She shrugged dismissively. “Erin seems to like him.”
“So does he. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen Bradley this enamored.”
“Look, Burke,” she suddenly flared up, sitting upright, “don’t try to change the subject on me, all right? What do you really think about me, huh? And please don’t be afraid to tell me the truth. If it’s just sex you want, fine, then I can tell you right now it’s over between us. If you want more than sex…” She shrugged. “Maybe there will be more. It all depends on you.”
He sighed and scratched his crew-cut. “I honestly don’t know, Soph. I mean, I told you going in that I’m not really a relationship kind of guy, remember?”
She nodded morosely. “I remember.”
“So… why mess up a good thing here, huh? I like you, I really do, and I love having sex with you.” He held out his hands, palms up. “I mean, what more do you want?”
“Everything,” she said moodily. “I want it all. Relationship, love, commitment, the whole enchilada, Burke.” She scoffed. “Listen to me. One week ago I was perfectly happy with my life, and now suddenly I want what other people have.”
“You mean, you want what Erin has,” he pointed out.
“I guess I do.” She shook her head disgustedly. “Fuck, I didn’t even know true love actually existed. I laughed in Erin’s face when she brought it up. She’s always been the hopeless romantic, you know. And I always told her she was full of shit. Now look who was full of shit.”
“You’re not full of shit,” he said, wishing he could light his cigar again. He never could do the touchy-feely thing without the right amount of either nicotine or caffeine.
“You know that she told me she came to India to find her soulmate? I thought it was a joke. I mean, soulmates? Really? Just a crock of shit, right? Who believes in soulmates in this day and age?”
“I do.”
Sophie stared at the man, hard. Burke might be a lot of things, amongst which was his capability to make her come harder than any man she’d ever been with, but he sure as hell was no romantic. She regarded him coolly, trying to figure out if he was having a laugh at her expense. He appeared serious, though with Burke you never knew.
“You believe in true love. Why do I find that so hard to believe?”
“Because you’re a cynic, Sophie, like most people these days. Your heart is hard, and so is your soul. People like Erin are a rare commodity. She’s kept her heart open and her soul unspoiled by the harshness of the age. No wonder Bradley is falling for her. Women like that are very rare indeed.”
Another pang of jealousy shot through Sophie. Since they’d arrived in India, she’d come to realize her friend had been offered a far better deal than she had. She’d landed mister dreamy, while she had to make due with this big lug, and while Sophie didn’t begrudge her friend the nookie—she’d had plenty of that herself in the past twenty-four hours—she did find it hard to accept she might have found just what she’d been looking for in the arms of prince charming.
“I don’t buy it,” she grumbled, hugging her knees. “The guy is simply too good to be true. A billionaire, handsome as fuck and charming as well? There’s gotta be a catch somewhere.” She looked up at Burke, hopeful. “Tell me, Burke. Is Bradley really too good to be true, or is he the real deal?”
Burke shrugged noncommittally. He so didn’t want to go there. He’d already told this woman more than he should have. She was a great lay, granted, but she had a nasty streak he didn’t care about.
“Bradley… has issues,” he finally admitted, “just like we all do. He is human, after all, and blessed—and cursed—with the same human traits and frailties we all possess.”
“Cut the crap, Burke,” Sophie grunted. “What’s his angle, huh? What is he doing out here in the middle of nowhere? Why isn’t he at home counting his billions?”
He smirked. “Are you asking me what his intentions are? What are you, Erin’s mom?”
“No, I’m not her mother,” she said nastily, “but I am her best friend, and I’ll be damned if I let some asshole take advantage of her.”
