Chapter 1

Another night and another drink. Nikki was putting the final touches on her makeup, heavy on the eye makeup, big hair and bigger attitude to match. Glancing in the mirror at her best friends, Nikki couldn’t help but smile. Her girls rocked, and she knew that as long as she had her ladies, she would be all right.  Chloe and Izzy had been her best friends since middle school.  They had found each other in a sea of hormones and cliques.  A time in a young girl’s life that can decide the next decade of your life.  Popular, nerdy, jock, or goth, those descriptors could seriously sway your life one way or another. Nikki was lucky, she met Chloe first.

Nikki had watched her walk into the lunchroom looking like a lamb heading to slaughter.  She knew that feeling and dived in to rescue her from the fate of making the wrong choice of where to sit in a middle school maze. They had been best friends ever since.  Looking over to her other friend Izzy, who was applying pink gloss to her already pink lips, she couldn’t help but smile.

Izzy, they had rescued from a potentially disastrous event when Izzy had dropped her lunch tray one day, garnering the attention of the entire student body.  This would have been bad enough for anyone at that teen age, but Izzy was short, heavy, and dreadfully shy. This could have ruined the rest of her school career. Luckily for her, Chloe and Nikki were walking in behind her, saw her drop her tray and watched as the hush fell across the room.  They looked at each other, shrugged, and both flipped their trays into the air.

By the time the food had splattered to the floor the room had erupted into an epic food fight.  No one remembered who started it. The good news was no one had had the chance to laugh at Izzy, and Chloe and Nikki made a new friend.

They had fun whenever they were together, but especially when there was drinking and dancing.  Chloe and Nikki would drag Izzy to movies, bowling, and painting classes. The girls always found ways to get out and tonight they were planning on fun, alcohol, and hopefully ridiculously attractive, ripped men.

Tonight, Chloe had scored some tickets to a charity event for a new firefighter calendar.  A hot bod contest to be exact.  The winner got the coveted spot on the front of the calendar. All proceeds went to charity, a local pediatric burn unit. So, in Nikki’s world that gave the seal of approval to ogle the hot men of District 17.

Giving her hair a cursory pat, she was still getting used to her shorter hair.  She had worn her hair in braids with varying lengths of weave for most of her life.  Her girls had talked her into going natural. Now she had short corkscrews that she had highlighted red and copper.  She finished up her makeup, keeping it smoky and heavy for evening, using a gold sparkly eye shadow to pick up the highlights in her hair.

She kept her lipstick a nude color against her mocha colored skin, which was glowing from her recent weekends spent sitting by the pool.  She worshipped the sun and felt better with a tan.

“Ladies, time for shots!” Chloe sang out, heading toward the kitchen.

“Ugh,” Izzy grumbled. She threw down the eye shadow she was trying to put on.

“Let me help sweetie, you just need a little mascara and you are good,” Nikki offered.

Izzy was a chubby cherub.  She had long blond hair, cornflower blue eyes and a peaches and cream complexion that tanned like the Coppertone girl in the summer.

Nikki herself was what most would consider big-boned.  She was 5’9 and had a size 16 waist. Add to that a full DD bust and a booty and thighs that usually had her shopping in the 22-24 section. She made the most of her T and her A and she loved it.  She was big and beautiful.  She loved her ass, it was round, it jiggled when she walked, and made her waist look tiny in comparison.

People could call her fat all they wanted.  She wouldn’t settle for anyone that thought she was less because of her weight.  And she certainly didn’t have problems finding dates.  There was something about a girl with a booty that drew in those that could appreciate the joys of the jiggle.

Nikki found that men who like ass, really loved ass.  They were connoisseurs, collectors if you will, of bangin’ booties.  And she was happy to meet them and enjoy what they had to offer.

“Seriously, drinks before the taxi gets here bitches!” Nikki heard Chloe yelling.

Rolling her eyes as Izzy she said, “We had better move before the boss gets bitchy.”

“You mean bitchier,” Izzy snickered.

Nikki smoothed her tight black skirt over her butt, and adjusted the hot pink ribbons on the front of her black cap sleeve shirt.  The laces criss-crossed up the front like the back of a corset.  She loved this shirt, it made her feel feminine and naughty at the same time.

Striding out into the hallway with Izzy following, she found three shot glasses of lemon drops waiting for them on the counter.

“To an awesome night, and fingers and toes crossed that one of us meets someone we won’t be embarrassed to wake up next to tomorrow!” Chloe toasted.

“Charming,” smirked Nikki.

Actually that sounded like a great plan for all of them.  The odds of them finding hot firefighters that wanted to go home with them were slim to none, but Nikki was an optimist.  She would try to make the best of the evening.  If she didn’t get lucky maybe one of the BFF’s would.

With that thought and their second rounds down, the taxi honked out front.

Chapter 2

The taxi pulled up to Bunkers, the local hang out for the firefighters, paramedics, and EMT’s in the area. It was always busy with men and women from the station relaxing after shifts.  And of course, skeletal stilt walkers hoping to hook up with their idea of beefcake.

Nikki called them stilt walkers because they always managed to find the highest pair of stilettos to strap onto their emaciated legs. It made them look like carnival folk trotting around and often tipping over.

Nikki herself kept her shoes low. She was tall enough and didn’t want to tower over the guys she met.  It was too awkward when they ended up with their heads at boob level.

They all hopped out of the cab, Nikki ensuring her tush was still covered as she climbed out.  They made it into the bar past the bouncer and found themselves in a sea of women.  The music was pumping and the front row of tables were already full of the skeleton crew.  Chloe led them over to a high-top in the second row and ordered a round of drinks.

Nikki was feeling warm from her lemon drops but was thirsty already.  Their drinks arrived and another round of toasts for a great evening.  Nikki just wanted the show to get started. She could at least get a little eye candy in even if she ended up going home alone.

The MC came on over the screeching loud speaker. Nikki clapped her hands over her ears.  Not a great way to start the evening.  Once the MC got that sound system under control he proceeded to rile up the crowd. He also introduced the local C-list celebrities that would be judging the contest.  The usual line up of newscasters, car dealership owners, and that brain dead Chihuahua that pulled the lottery balls.

The MC announced the first contestant, a terrified looking young man named Manuel.  Clearly not in his element, he was halfway through his song before he started to thaw and pretend to enjoy himself.  He was way too skinny for Nikki’s taste.  She was a big girl and need a big strong man to match.

Next up after that was some kind of crazy Greek god named Rafe.  Who names their kid Rafe? Or Rafferty as the MC said.  Weird name Nikki thought.

That thought was quickly pushed aside when she noticed Rafe’s gaze was directed at their table, right at Chloe to be exact.

Nikki flipped her head back and forth between the two just to confirm.  Yup, Mr. PJ pants was totally checking out her best friend, and poor Chloe was looking catatonic.

Nikki watched Rafe wink at Chloe and she heard a tiny mewl come out of her friend. Oh lordy, she was a goner. Nikki was beside herself, this was perfect. She loved when her girls were caught unawares by male attention.  They were both so beautiful and they deserved to be happy and in love.  Hottie firefighter was certainly stoking the flames with Miss Chloe.

By the time Rafe was done dancing, Chloe was vibrating in her seat.  The anxiety coming off of her was palpable.  As he exited the stage, Nikki heard Chloe let out the breath she was holding.

“Oh my sweet lord, was that guy working it for you?!” Nikki yelled.

“He totally was!” Izzy said bouncing in her seat.

“He was not, that’s crazy,” Chloe said.  “With all those skinny tramps in the front row, there is no way he was checking out the fluffy chick in the second row.” Chloe always resorted to self-bashing when she was embarrassed.

“If he wasn’t dancing for you, then why is he making his way over to our table?” Nikki said with a wicked grin.

Nikki watched as Rafe weaved his way through the crowd towards their table.  Bypassing her and Izzy, he walked straight to Chloe and introduced himself.  Awkwardness ensued, Nikki wished she could help her friend but it was too much fun to watch her pretty friend blush and gulp with this firefighter dazzling her.

Rafe was asking Chloe to go have a drink with him and before her friend could make up some excuse, Nikki jumped in.

“She’s all yours handsome,” Nikki said.  Her bestie was giving her the crazy wide eyes, but Nikki chose to ignore it.

Rafe grabbed Chloe’s hand and dragged her to the back of the bar.

“One down, two to go!” Nikki said to Izzy.

“Oh sure, I’m going to hook up with half the department tonight,” Izzy said with a hiccup.

Looked like Izzy was feeling the pre-drinks, the rounds at the bar, and the beer she was currently nursing.

“Izzy my girl, anything is possible.  We have the whole night ahead of us and I plan on enjoying the view,” Izzy said with a slug of her beer.

The current dancer was struggling to get out of the paramedic outfit he was wearing. The process was uncomfortable and even the drunk twig bitches in the front row had stopped screaming.

“Where is the giant hook when you need it?” Nikki murmured.

“I know, I think he is having a fit or something. Maybe one of the other paramedics should check on him,” Izzy said in horror.

“Alright, everyone, let’s give it up for Bob!” the announcer came on trying to help the poor man along.  “One more time for, Bob!”

The embarrassed and awkward man, finally managed to wobble off the stage, one leg still stuck in his pants.

“Alright everyone, I have a 3-alarm stud coming up!” the MC rang out.  “Next up we have Chase, Chase has been with District 17 for 3 years, and loves to hang out with his dog Max and spend time with his daughter Penny. But don’t worry ladies; he is single and ready to mingle!”  A chorus of groans followed that announcement.  Yeesh, this guy was the worst, Nikki thought.

A pounding techno song came on and the lights flashed up to a tall dark haired man wearing nothing but a pair of camo pants.  He looked like he had some Italian somewhere in his family tree.  He was built, strong broad shoulders, beautiful sculpted chest which came down to a tight narrow waist.  He had those V shaped muscles, that made girls do stupid things, arrowing straight into his pants.

“No way is he real,” Nikki whispered.  Apparently Izzy heard her anyway. “I don’t think he’s real, we must be hallucinating.”

“I think that one might actually be real Izzy my girl,” Nikki said.

Her eyes never leaving the man gyrating his hips to the front row. He did a turn and dropped to the stage and started doing push-up to the screams of the ladies in the audience.  Then because that move didn’t have every ovary in the joint popping an egg, he started to do one arm push-ups.

“I think I just came,” Nikki said.

Izzy spit out the drink of beer she had just swigged, “Damn it Nikki, you can’t just say things like that!” Izzy squealed.

“I’m not joking Izzy, that man is amazing,” Nikki said, wiping the imaginary drool off her chin.

“You are too much Nikki,” Izzy said cleaning up the beer she sprayed on the table.

The crowd in the bar was reaching epic noise levels for Chase, as he continued to thrust and hump the air.  He didn’t even bother taking his pants off, he didn’t need to. His sexuality was drenching the audience and damn, if Nikki wasn’t soaking her own panties watching him.

The song was wrapping up and the MC came on to get the crowd to give another round of applause. Chase was making his bows and waving at the crowd.  Instead of exiting the stage the way he came on, he jumped off the edge of stage and immediately the ladies closest reached out to pet his bare upper body. Chase just smiled and kept moving, moving straight towards Nikki.

“This is not happening again,” Nikki said in awe.

“Apparently it is,” a sad sounding Izzy muttered and took a swig of her bottle.

Chase made his way to their table with eyes only for Nikki. She swiveled in her chair so she was facing the man that was all smooth planes of muscle.  Look at his eyes, not his chest she chanted to herself.

Chase made his way to their table, stopping directly in front of Nikki.  His eyes swept her from head to toe and back up again, stopping at her waist.  His eyes flicked up to hers and smiled. One of those big full teeth smiles that spoke of a confidence that men, who were rarely denied, had mastered.

“Hi I’m Chase,” he said.

“Hi Chase, I’m Nikki and this is my friend Izzy.”

Chase shook her hand then turned and smiled and shook a star struck Izzy’s hand. “Nice to meet you both,” he said in return, “Mind if I join you?”

“Have a seat if you want,” Nikki said with a little bit of a snip to her voice.

Nikki was immediately on the defensive.  Who was this guy, thinking he could strut his ridiculously hot, lickable body up to their table, acting all casual like he really wanted to hang out with them.

There had been too many years of asshats judging her appearance and therefore making assumptions about her.  This guy must be one of those types, nobody that looked that good could be decent.  Conceited always followed muscles.

“Looking for a free drink?” Nikki snarked.

“Actually I was hoping to have a bit of a chat with you sweets,” Chase said leaning forward, bringing his face close to Nikki’s.

“Don’t call me sweets,” Nikki responded.

“Ok, what can I call you then beautiful?” Chase asked.

Nikki couldn’t help herself, she smiled when he said beautiful.  She was a woman after all, and when a Hottie McHottie-son called you beautiful, it turned even the most hardened women into a giggling schoolgirl.

“Beautiful is a start,” Nikki said caving in.

“Sorry, I don’t mean to tease you, but you’re adorable,” Chase said smiling.

“That’s ok Sparky, I don’t mind being teased.  I can take it as long as you can,” she smiled back.

“Sparky?” Chase scoffed.

“Yup Sparky, I think that’s a fitting name for a firefighter,” Nikki said with a wink.

“Alright, alright, I can handle Sparky.  I’m confident enough in my masculinity to take on a nickname like that,” Chase said puffing up his chest.

“A nickname like that?”

“Yup, definitely a goofy nickname.  Sparky is the nickname of the kid that got beat up in high school,” he said.

“Was that kid you?” Nikki asked. She doubted it, but asking the question was way too tempting.

“No, not me, I was the defender of the nerds.  I played football but really like math, so my friend pool was pretty diverse,” Chase answered. “I was the kid that bridged the social gaps so to speak.”

“Ahh, defender of the lowly,” she said dropping her eyes to her drink.  She knew what it was like to be the one picked on.  She was pretty confident in school but that didn’t stop the haters from trying to break her.

“Nope, just don’t think anyone should be bullied.  There is too much variety in this world for people to find fault in everyone that isn’t just like them. Some might say that my likes and dislikes aren’t acceptable. I don’t really give a crap what anyone thinks. I’m happy in my life and like to surround myself with like minded people,” Chase declared.

“You sound like Saint Chase.  Are you rescuing me from an evening sitting alone with my buddy Izzy here and drinking way too much then stumbling home alone?” asked Nikki.

She really hoped he wouldn’t agree. That would put a permanent damper on her evening.  Her ego was preening at the current attention she was receiving from this stud muffin.  But one wrong word from him would most assuredly end her evening with a tub of chunky monkey ice cream and a bad rom-com flick while sitting in her flannel PJ’s with the pictures of bacon and eggs on them.

“No, you don’t need rescuing beautiful. You need cosseting,” he replied low.

“Cosseting? Seriously? Is that a real thing?” she asked incredulously.

“Oh yes, I can tell you are the type of woman that needs to be pampered and petted.  You thrive on attention, but not in a bad way.  Only positive, true attention does it for you.  Honesty is crucial for you and you won’t give your trust to just anyone,” he said looking straight into her eyes.

“You can tell that about me huh?” Nikki said. Was this guy for real?

“Yup, I also can tell that you care about your appearance. You like to dress up, you like to look good, and you like the attention that looking good gets you.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I’d be lying if I said I was attracted to your personality from across the room,” Chase admitted

“No? My shining demeanor didn’t draw you in?” she teased.

“Nope, your smoking hot ass and your tiny little waist did.  I saw an hourglass from across the room and knew I had to meet you,” he said with no shame.

Wow, that was honest she thought.  Most guys didn’t tell her right off that they liked her shape.  She figured they were ass men since they tended to gravitate towards that part of her anatomy.  But hourglass?  She guessed busty with a booty would equal that.

“Hourglass? That your thing?” she asked.

“Oh beautiful you have no idea how perfectly you are shaped.  I bet I could wrap my hands around your waist and my fingers would touch,” he said wistfully staring at her waist.

What was with this guy and her waist? She’d met some freaks in her time, but this guy was a new species for her.

“I doubt that would work. I’m still a big girl and although those are some massive paws you’re sporting, I doubt you would physically be able to circle my waist,” she scoffed.

“Oh I bet we could cinch you down so far I could manage,” he said huskily.
