Whizzing up a
Rainbow Beauty
fruit smoothie is a super-speedy and delicious way to help ensure you're eating plenty of fresh fruit. Eating healthily is brilliant for boosting your energy, while feeding your skin and hair with all the ingredients to give you a gorgeous glow.

Remember the
Rainbow Beauty
motto:

Beauty from the inside out!

You will need:

1 ripe mango

1/2 lime

150ml (1/4 pint) apple juice

2 tablespoons clear honey

If you don't have a jug-style blender or smoothie-maker, you can use a handheld blender instead.

1. Slice the mango lengthways, on both sides of the stone. If you haven't done this before, get someone to help you. Peel off the skin. Then, cut the flesh away from the stone and put it all in a jug-style blender.

2. Squeeze out the juice from half a lime. Add the lime juice, apple juice and honey to the blender. Put on the lid and whizz everything together.

To make this an extra-special Rainbow Beauty smoothie, pour it into a tall glass and top with a slice of lime and a sparkly straw. Invite your friends over for a smoothie date, put on a feel-good playlist and celebrate being YOU!

What did you want to be when you were younger?

A story writer! I made a book of poems when I was about six and my dad block-printed the covers on an old mangle. Then I sold them to my friends and relatives – yes, for money! I was one cheeky kid!

What's the best piece of advice someone's ever given you?

Erm… Be yourself. That's good advice. And the best thing I've learned myself is don't go over and over past mistakes – do what you can to put things right, learn from them and then look to the future! Oh, and never tie your shoelaces in a revolving door.

Which character do you most identify with?

I think writers put a little of themselves into lots of their characters. I guess I most identify with Abbie, as I'm quite enthusiastic and passionate about stuff (and think too much about things!). I can also be like Marco, especially with his fear of rejection. Ben and Summer are the kind of easy-going, chilled people I love to have as friends in real life – I wish I could be more like them!

What is your favourite Rainbow Beauty product from the book?

The Rose and Geranium Bath Bombs. They sound so delicate and pretty. And nothing beats relaxing in the bath with your fave book and some chocolate.

Do you think you could run your own business?

Being an author is running your own business. As well as writing, you are your own marketing and PR person, receptionist and office manager, researcher, accountant, post room, and you even have to make the tea!

What's your most cringe-worthy moment?

OMG, there are so many! I'm like Abbie in that respect! One of the worst was when I was Abbie's age, waving to a boy I liked as I cycled past him and not looking where I was going. I smacked straight into a parked car, flew onto the boot and then had to get down and pretend to be fine!

We love Abbie's positivity. What makes you smile and keeps you positive?

My fab friends make me laugh. My amazing, funny children, Holly and Freddie, make me laugh. And my lovely husband, Matt, makes me laugh! I love funny stories and watching comedy on the TV and listening to it on the radio. And when all else fails, Curly Wurlys usually do the trick!
