Chapter 9

I make my way to the local pub, the Dive Bar, where I find Leo sitting at a table already.

“Sam … how lovely of you to actually come and join me,” he says, smiling widely. He gets up from his chair and holds out his hands. “Let me take your coat.”

“Acting all chivalrous now, huh?”

“It’s not an act,” he muses, winking at me when he comes closer.

He stands behind me as I slip off my coat, his fingers gently stroking my arms, creating goosebumps everywhere. The scent of his aftershave is quite strong today. That, or I’m seriously addicted to his smell. Damn.

We sit down at the table, which surprisingly also has a couch to the side, and he orders beer for the both of us.

“I’m surprised you actually said yes,” he says.

“To what?”

“Coming here.”

“Oh, I thought you meant the fake wife thing,” I say, breathing out a sigh of relief.

“That, too.” He chuckles. “I didn’t expect any of it to go the way it did, to be honest. And I don’t mean you. You … you were perfect.” He gives me a cute smile that makes it hard for me to retort.

“I’m surprised I went along with it all. Well, you did threaten to fire me,” I say as the waitress puts down our drinks.

“I shouldn’t have, and I’m sorry. It was a stupid decision by a cornered, desperate man.”

“For once we agree.”

He laughs. “Well, to be fair, it was a great temporary solution to my problem.”

“How? I mean, honestly, how long did you think we could keep up this charade?”

“Honestly? A while. We were convincing. My parents believed it.”

“Yeah, but for how long? And what would it have mattered if you had to tell them the truth anyway?”

He sucks in some air. “I wasn’t actually planning on telling them to begin with.”

“What?” I exclaim.

“I just wanted them to believe it was real so I could fake-divorce you and then have it all be over with.”

“So you were planning on keeping this real all along?”

“Yeah, but it was going fine.”

“Fine? Are you kidding me?” I want to throw my beer at him, but that would be a waste … of the freaking beer.

“Yeah, it was. I mean, you were definitely believable as my wife.”

I take a gulp when I hear that word. He says it in a way that makes me think he’s completely enamored with the idea.

“Until she showed up,” he adds. “She ruined everything.”

“How did she know where to go anyway?”

“Oh, I always stay at that hotel when I visit my parents. When I got that text back in our room the morning after the dinner, I knew she was up to no good.”

“Ah, no wonder you were so hasty and practically dragged me out of bed.”

He scratches his head. “Yeah, that was rude, I admit. I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.”

“Before we met.”

He raises his eyebrows. “Something like that.” A cute smile appears on his face.

“So, she’s your real wife … How did that actually happen?”

“Well, like I said, we were celebrating a deal, she got me drunk, and then married me on purpose.”

I chuckle a little. “That’s it? I thought there was more to it that you just didn’t want to tell me. But that’s all there’s to it?”

“Yeah?” he asks as if he isn’t sure. “What else should there be?”

“I don’t know. I actually expected you guys to … you know …” I shrug.

“You think we had sex?” he asks, his lips still parted as he waits for my answer.

“Well, no. I mean, maybe. I don’t know. Did you?” I’m stumbling through the words causing my cheeks to turn red.

His left lip curls up into a smile. “If I said yes, would that make you jealous?”

“Oh, my God!” I punch his arm. “You asshole.”

“It was worth a try.”

“No, just no.”

“Well, if it makes you feel any better, no, we did not have sex. Although, I did think about it …”

“I bet you did, you manwhore,” I muse.

Now he punches me, but softly, like he’s worried I might break. “She practically threw herself at me. It was hard to resist.”

“Then why did you? Why not give her what she wanted?”

“It wasn’t what she wanted. She was just using my lust against me so she could gain control over the company.”

“Ah-ha …”

“Besides, my mind was somewhere else.” He winks at me, which makes me flush even more.

“About that … you said something about chances … with me? Or something.” I twirl my hair.

“You heard what I said in Starbucks.” He crosses his arms and looks intently at me from across the table. “I meant every word of it.”

I swallow away the lump in my throat, suddenly getting all heated up.

He leans forward and looks straight at me with those sultry eyes of his. “I wasn’t lying when I said I’ve imagined you doing things to me while under my desk. Or when I said that you should’ve dressed like that long ago.” He licks his lips, which makes me bite mine. Good Lord.

“There are a lot of things I think about on a daily basis and most of them involve you.”

Holy crap.

I grab my bottle of beer and chug down a whole lot until I almost choke on it. I can’t handle this confession. It’s too much. Why? Because I have no fucking clue what to do with it. Like, he’s Leo fucking King for crying out loud. The CEO of the company I work for. And he wants me … How in the world is this ever okay?

“I can’t do this, Leo,” I say, already tipsy drinking my second bottle. “I want more …” I sigh.

“You want what? I can give it to you. Anything you want.” He gets up from his chair and scoots to the couch next to us. Then he grabs my hand and drags me there, too. I let him … I don’t know why. I’m just too tempted. Or too tipsy.

“Stop questioning everything, Sam.”

“But I don’t believe you. After all those lies … how can I ever believe you want me?”

He places his hand on my lap and squeezes my thigh, sending all kinds of signals that make my senses go haywire. “Believe me when I say I want you.”

“But you’re my boss,” I mutter, when his fingers start moving up and down my leg.

He leans in to whisper in my ear. “I don’t care.” His hot breath lingers on my skin, making me delirious with need. Oh, why did it have to be tonight that I didn’t get laid? Now I’m practically panting from just his touch.

I quickly grab the next drink and take a sip, trying to ignore my feelings, or rather my bodily fluids … my pussy is definitely tingling all right. It’s becoming increasingly hard to ignore the way my body yearns for him, especially considering the lingerie I’m wearing underneath my regular clothes. I almost feel like a drunk stripper, and at this rate, I might actually turn into one.

“One taste …” he murmurs in my ear, kissing me softly on my neck. “One kiss.” His lips move to my earlobe and suckle on it. “One lick.” A soft moan escapes my mouth, and when he stops I wish he’d continue. And then he whispers, “It’s not enough.”

Chapter 10

I shudder as he retreats and leans back to look at me from top to bottom, eyeing my reaction. Just his eyes are enough to make my heart flutter. He’s hunting for me like some animal. How in the world am I ever going to get through tonight? I made a promise to Mr. Awesome, but it’s so damn hard to keep it together right now. I just have to keep in mind what kind of an asshole he is and that he only cares about fucking.

“Waiter! Tequila, please,” I say, taking a deep breath.

Leo chuckles. “Sam, don’t you think that’s too much?”

“No, not with you around.” I clear my throat. “Besides, I can make my own decisions perfectly fine. I don’t need you to watch over me.”

“I’m just worried that you’re overdoing it because of me.”

“Because of you?” I gasp. “Nonsense.” He’s right, but I won’t give him more reasons to pat himself on the back.

He smiles and muffles a laugh. “Fine. One for me too, please,” he says to the waiter when he brings me my drink.

“What are you doing?” I ask.

“Well, if you’re getting smashed then so am I.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know. You tell me,” he muses, narrowing his eyes.

I roll my eyes. “There’s more to life than screwing with everybody you meet.”

“Like drinking?”

“No, that’s just a side effect of hanging out with people like you,” I retort.

He laughs. “Except, I don’t screw with everyone.”

“Oh, I feel so special now.” I take a sip of my tequila as his drink arrives.

“You should because you are.”

“Oh, stop with the flattery,” I say. “It won’t get you anywhere.”

“Then what do you want to hear? I already said I’m sorry. I already showed you how much I want you. I want to make up.”

“Start by talking then,” I say.

He frowns, confused. “About what?”

“Things …”

“Things?” he repeats, chuckling.

“You know, a conversation … like regular people.” I smile. “Like, how was your day?”

“Good, although a bit busy and a tad difficult.”

I shake my head laughing. “Oh, this is going to be a long night.”

“Why? Am I that annoying?” He wriggles his eyebrows, making me laugh.

“I know you’re doing it on purpose.”

“Who cares.” He scoots closer again and then slowly folds his arm over my shoulder. “I just want to have a good time.”

I look at the clock. “Well, I have until twelve so that’s how much time you get to convince me that you’re not a complete asshole.”

“Why twelve? Are you running away and leaving your glass slipper at the door then? Because if I have to cross the country to fit the shoe onto your foot, I will.”

I giggle, and somehow, I realize that I actually quite like being in his presence.

***

After almost ten drinks, a lot of laughter, and stupid comments, I’m about as smashed as can be, and so is he. When I check the clock, three hours have passed.

“Oh, my God! It’s so late,” I say.

“What?” he asks, almost tipping over.

I laugh, shoving him back so he doesn’t fall onto my lap.

He chuckles. “Aw, can’t I just lean on you a little?”

“No, I have to go, Leo!”

“Why?”

“It’s twelve ‘o clock. I have to get home.”

“You sound so much like Cinderella.” He smirks. “You remind me of her, too.”

I roll my eyes, trying to get up, but I almost fall down because I can’t walk for shit after so many drinks. He grabs me and barely manages to hold onto my dress while I’m bent over, my ass sticking straight up in his face.

“Whoa.”

“Nice outfit.”

“What?” I say, straightening my back and patting down my dress.

He gets up from the couch just as drunk. “I see what you’re hiding under there. BOO!” He laughs like a half-assed idiot.

I shove him down when he tries to get up. “Hey! Don’t look under my dress, you ass.”

“I can’t help that you were shoving your butt up in my face.”

“You caught me!” I say, stumbling across the floor.

“Yeah, you would’ve hit the ground if not for me.”

“Well, thanks!”

“Don’t mention it!”

We both walk out the door, completely wasted.

“So, what now?” he says.

“We go home.”

When I start walking, he says, “Wait. Let me call my chauffeur.”

“Your chauffeur? You mean a limo?”

“Yeah.”

I gasp. “Are you sure?”

“Why not?” he muses as if it’s the most normal thing in the world.

“Okay …” I say, perplexed that it comes so easy to him.

I feel a little embarrassed stepping into a car this way. However, it’s not like I’m going to get far in this outfit, on these heels, this intoxicated.

When the limo arrives, Leo steps forward and holds open the door for me. “After you.”

“Such a knight,” I jest.

“My name isn’t King just for show.” He winks, and we both laugh like idiots as we sit down in the backseat.

Leo tells the driver to go to my place, and then the blinds close, giving us more privacy. I search through my bag for my phone, but when I have it, Leo snatches it away.

“Hey! Give that back,” I say.

“No.” He tucks it into his pocket. “You have plenty of time to look at that when you’re home. I want as much personal time as I can get with you.”

“Tsk, you had your chance, Leo.”

“Not a good one, though, considering all the shit I put you through.”

“True. You did make me do a lot of stuff.”

He cocks his head. “Tell me the truth. Wasn’t it even just a little bit fun? Some parts?”

I roll my eyes then press my thumb and index finger together. “A tiny, tiny bit.”

“Well, at least it’s a start.” He laughs. “I should really make up for that.”

“You can start by giving me the money you promised,” I say, eyeing him from the side.

“Are you afraid that I won’t give it to you?”

“Maybe.”

“Christ, I’m not that kind of an ass,” he says, shaking his head. “Of course, I’ll pay you for all the trouble I put you through. As a matter of fact, I’ll double it.”

I laugh. “Now you’re shitting me. That’s the alcohol talking, right?”

“Nope,” he says with a huge grin on his face. “I just want to give back what I took from you, and since I can’t give you back time, I figured money might help.” He scoots closer and places a hand on my leg. “I want us to be on good terms again.”

I swallow away the lump in my throat. “As friends, you mean.”

He looks at me with those half-mast chocolatey eyes of his, mesmerizing me as he parts his lips. “Oh, no … definitely not as friends.”

There’s an unmistakable hint of naughtiness in his eyes that I simply can’t turn away from. He leans in closer and closer until his lips are so close to my skin that I can feel his hot breath tingling. Oh, dear Lord. I can’t keep my resolve intact.

“Leo …” I mumble when his fingers slide up my leg.

“I love it when you say my name like that …” he whispers in my ear. “I’ll hear you scream my name tonight.”

“We can’t …” I mutter as he starts nibbling my earlobe. My breath comes out in short gasps because I’m unable to think straight from his nibbles and kisses. That, or it’s because I’m totally smashed.

“Why not? You and I both know you want to,” he murmurs, kissing my neck gently. “I want you, Sam. Come home with me. Stay the night. Let me suck your nipples, lick your pussy, and fill you with my cock until you scream my name. Say you’ll let me, or by God, I will take you right here, right now.”

“Do I even have a choice?” I ask, whimpering as he gets closer with each second.

“Yes, but you won’t say no. I know you too well. So, one way or another, I’ll have you tonight. Whether it’s in this car, on my table, or in my bed. I
will
fuck you.”

Oh, I give up. My body is ready.
