The first thing
she realized when she opened her eyes was that the storm had passed. Sunshine drifted through the curtains, instantly warming the room. The second thing she noticed was that the space beside her was empty. She sighed. After a night of lovemaking he’d run again like a scared rabbit. She glanced at the clock, six-thirty. Had Hutton slept late? Tilting her head to one side, she listened for any signs of Hutton’s movement through the baby monitor. When she didn’t hear a sound she decided to take the opportunity of golden silence and jump in the shower.
