Just like that my body tensed and I could feel my orgasm reach its peak and I shattered into a million little pieces of bliss. I slumped against my pillow, completely sated l. My energy was completely zapped, but it seemed Ethan still wasn't finished with me.

He crawled back up my body, forging a path ahead with passionate kisses all over. Instantly my body
reacted again and I groaned low in my throat. Would I ever get enough of this handsome man? Would he ever get enough of me? I hoped not.

I looked into his eyes, noting the glimmer sparking there. He had this predatory spark in his eyes that made my knees go weak and my heart flutter like a colibri’s. He kissed me on the lips, gently at first. Then he got more passionate as he slipped his tongue between my lips and intertwined it with mine.

When he pulled back we were both panting. A slight sheen of sweat had his skin glistening and his body gliding over mine with a glorious friction.

With his right hand he guided his prominent arousal to my entrance. I held my breath in anticipation. It whooshed out between my lips as his length penetrated me and I moaned. It felt so unbelievably good to feel him inside me.

He stilled as soon as he was seated inside of me to the hilt to give me time to adjust to his wide girth. When he started moving, though, I was on cloud nine. He slowly moved in and out of me at first, extremely mindful of my very pregnant state, but gradually started to speed up.

I urged him on to go even faster as I started to feel my body tightening in sweet anticipation for my climax. I screamed out his name as I came apart and convulsed around him. His movements became jerky as he neared his own peak. He thrust a few more times into me and I felt his hot semen spurt into my womb. He groaned low in his throat as he pumped one last time.

When he pulled out of me we both moaned. He then slumped onto the bed beside me, breathing heavily. He gathered me to him and held me tightly to him as he spooned me from behind. One hand lay over my belly, rubbing it lightly.

"I love you," I whispered.

"I love you, too, so much," he answered. "I can't wait for our twins to come. I want to hold them and get to know them."

I smiled.
"Me too."

I still felt as he kissed the back of my neck and nuzzled my hair before I dozed off.

I woke up in the middle of the night, roused by kisses and caresses all over my body. I moaned. My body automatically responded to the arousing administrations.

Ethan was still lying behind me, spooning me. He entered me from behind in a slow, agonizing motion, groaning low as he did so. I couldn't suppress my gasp at the sweet friction. He took me slow, but firm, his thrusts sure and steady.

Quickly, we both reached our climax together, screaming out in pleasure. After
I
orgasmed I swiftly nodded off again.

Chapter Twenty-Four

The next morning I was woken in much the same way. We made love again and then after lounging arousing and catching our breaths again we finally got out of bed to greet the day. We showered together, which brought back the most delicious memories and ended in another round of lovemaking before we toweled off and got dressed.

Soon we were walking out the door after giving it a good shove to open. Ethan drove us into the city proper and we went for a mouthwatering breakfast at a lovely little cafe.

We talked about absolutely everything. No matter what I asked him he answered every single one with total honesty and openness. I saw in his eyes how earnest he really was. And I was infinitely grateful. I couldn't bear for him to lie to me again or omit something as important as that stupid city project.

Later we went shopping for baby stuff. We fought over whether it was better to give back the single things I had already bought and buy twins sets or to just buy another set of everything I had at home. All the while he kept holding my hand, though, never letting go. It made my heart expand and grow warm in my chest.

"I don't want to give them back. I like them," I argued.

"I know you do, but think about the things you can buy for both of them that you'll like even more. It's all on me since they are mine, too."

I wanted to argue at that, at least a little, but he had another argument ready before I could even utter a word.

"You're already doing most of the work." He pointedly glanced at my belly. "So I can do my part, too. Okay?"

Grudgingly, I nodded and sighed. I could never win any arguments against him, especially when he used logic.

So, we went and bought twin sets, which, I reluctantly had to admit, I liked so much better than the one I had gotten. I wanted to stick my tongue out at him in childish defiance. We had a lot of fun, though, choosing between all the different things that were on display in the varying shops.

I learned a little more about him that day. It still left a lot to wish for, but we now had enough time to make up for that. Of course, I told him about me, too, at least as much as I was comfortable with at the moment.

Over the next few days we brought back the baby things, went on actual dates and he even accompanied me to my baby gymnastics course. It was truly endearing to see him act all excited to become a father. Never in a million years had I imagined this time would ever come.

I had never even really thought about having children, but I was almost bursting with exhilaration. We both couldn't wait. And even when my hormones acted up and I went all crazy on him he never lost his cool. He was quickly becoming a master at managing my most difficult phases.

I loved him more and more each passing day. He was always sweet and understanding, not at all like I had imagined he would be once he found out that I had kept the pregnancy from him. But he hadn't even mentioned it once. I thought we would be angry and reject our babies. I was glad he was the complete opposite.

Once he took me to visit his brother in the company offices. The building was completely made of glass and glistened in the sunlight. The inside looked much different than the outside. When you gaze at the building from outside it radiated a calm and soothing feeling. The inside was a single, hectic organism, a chaotic commotion of human beings buzzing around doing their jobs.

“I think you can see why I like working at home instead of here,” Ethan commented as he swept his gaze around the busy lobby in disgust. “And this is nothing in comparison to the floors above.

He was absolutely right. I wondered how the people working here were able to accomplish anything with all the others buzzing around them like bees. I was getting a headache just by watching them.

“Come on,” he said loud enough to be heard above the noise.

He guided me over to a bank of elevators
and we waited together for one to arrive, which didn’t take long at all. Considering that there were six of them and they were all constantly in use one of them had to come to the lobby at least once every five minutes. Like the subway, I mused.

We rode to the top floor of the tower, where the executive offices were located. His hand moved to the small of my back as he steered me in the right direction.

“This is actually my office,” he told me as he showed me an almost empty office with his name plate on the door.

We moved further down the hall and stopped at a dead end. Behind this door lay Zach Rowe’s office, the CEO’s.
Ethan knocked and entered without hesitation. I was a little more reluctant to just waltz in there.

Zach was sitting at his desk when we walked in. He was deeply absorbed in a discussion over the phone and stared at the screen of his computer at the same time. At our interruption he briefly looked up, smiled, gestured for us to sit down and went back to the screen again.

Twenty minutes later he finally hung up with a heavy sigh.
He let his head fall into his hands and rubbed his eyes with his palms.

“Sorry about that,” he apologized.
“It went a little longer than I originally planned.” He finally looked up again and gave us a tired smile. “The magistrate is giving me hell because of the ‘city beautification’ projects.”

I felt bad for him, but couldn’t help and be satisfied at the same time. Those people really needed the roofs over their heads they currently had. Most couldn’t afford to move away. They could most likely hardly afford to stay in their apartments after a complete makeover of all the run-down districts.

“I’m sorry, but I think it’s much better for everyone this way.” I wanted him to know I understood his situation, but I wouldn’t back down on my demands.

He gave me a patient smile. “Yes, y
ou’re right
, of course
. And I should know that best of all, but somehow I was so blinded by all the fame and money we achieved that I couldn’t see past that. I have to learn that
things won’t always go the way I want them to.

I wondered at the comment that he should know best. What had he experienced in his life that he would say such a thing?

“Unfortunately, I don’t really have much time now since that phone call exceeded the time limit I had planned for it. So, I have to get back to work now.”

He stood and walked around the desk. Then helped me to my feet and kissed me on the cheek.

“Thank you for coming, though. I’m looking forward to seeing the little ones.”

With that he smiled at me, clapped his brother on the back and turned back to his desk to work. We didn’t want to interrupt him any longer, so we exited his office as silent as possible. Ethan showed me around the building some more before we walked out onto the street.

“Would you like to go somewhere else or do you want me to bring you home?” Ethan asked when we got into his car.

I considered the options. I was unusually tired today, but still wanted to spend some more time with him.

“How about going home and watching some movie together?” I suggested.

“Sounds perfect.”

We buckled up and were off to my and Jess’ apartment. Well, it was now Trevor’s, too. I wondered what those two were up to today. It was a weekday, so Jess was most likely at her new workplace.

We arrived shortly after that and went up the stairs. It took a little effort to get the door to open, but I had my strong man with me to help out the damsel in distress. He smiled at me as he held the door open for me to go through.

Before I even got to take one step into the apartment something heavy whooshed by my head and crashed into the wall. I was completely shocked and stood frozen in place.

“You fucking bitch! Are you crazy?”
We
heard coming from the kitchen area.

It was Trevor’s voice that so coarsely insulted my best friend who stood at the other side of the living room, her chest heaving and her eyes shooting fire.

“I have the fucking right to be a crazy bitch right now, you cheating bastard!”
She
screamed back at him.

She quickly found something else to grab with her hands and threw it at him. He ducked behind the kitchen counter, barely avoiding a blow to the head. My favorite vase flew against the tile wall and shattered into a million pieces.

The loud crash made me almost jump out of my skin. I just stood there and watched them scream at each other. It was exactly the same
scene I would see over and over again as a child. My parents
would scream and shout insults and my mother would start throwing things at my father’s head when she didn’t know what to say anymore. And I would stand by and watch. They hadn’t even realized I was there. Then one day they were just gone, died in a car crash. They probably had been fighting then, too.

Chapter Twenty-Five

“Hey,” I heard a voice whisper in my ear. “Don’t cry.”

I had been so absorbed in my memories of the past I hadn’t notice
d
Ethan move at all. Suddenly he was standing in front of me, shielding me with his body. He wiped his hand over my cheeks. When it came back glistening and wet I was completely perplexed. I hadn’t realized that I was crying.

The shouting and screaming was still going on in the background, but I concentrated my attention on Ethan. He leaned down and gave me a soft peck on the lips.

“It’s going to be okay,” he whispered.

Then he turned around and shouted, “Hey!”

He had an incredibly commanding voice. Instantly, all the commotion and noise stopped
. I peaked around his shoulder only to see Trevor and Jess staring at him. When they spotted me they immediately shoved aside their loathing attitudes and focused on me. It seemed they didn’t want to upset the poor pregnant girl. I didn’t care either way. I just wanted them to stop this.

“Hey, Rachel.
How are you doing?” Jess asked me.

“I don’t know. What’s going on here?” I asked in a
n uncertain,
small voice.

I sounded like a child, even to myself, but I couldn’t help myself. The memories of the past I had tried to suppress for so long had been brought back and transformed me into the small girl I had been back then.

“Nothing,
hun
, everything’s fine,” Trevor answered.

They both gave me fake smiles to mask their argument they had just been having. But it was easy to see through it.

“It’s not
nothing
. Don’t lie to me
.“
I was getting angry now.

It was bad enough to scream and shout at each other in the first place, but then lying to me on top of that was too much. I glared at my two friends, my only friends, until they squirmed.
Jess was the first to give in. She pointed at Trevor with an accusing finger.

“I caught
him
cheating on me,” she said in a choked up voice.
