Kerry and Lauren sat inside the living room waiting inside their family home for Mrs. Ware to come downstairs so they could leave. Mrs. Ware was making a trip to a close by Walgreens to pick up a few items and a prescription.

Lauren sighed like she was feeling impatient then started digging through her purse looking for her lip gloss as Kerry rested her head back on the sofa. She was watching Showtime on Demand, giggling at the Joseph sisters on Soul Food. The Joseph sisters bickered with each other just like the Ware sisters, but the love was still there and she could sit and watch the show all day. It certainly hit close to home with each episode, no matter how old the series got.

“What is that?” Kerry asked, glancing from the TV over towards her sister’s lip gloss as she applied it on her lips.

“It’s some MAC Tinted lip gloss called
Tease Me
,” she responded. “I love it.”

“It looks good on you. Le’me try some on.”

Lauren frowned with a playful look on her face. “Unt-un,” she shook her head. “I don’t know where those lil chappy lips been.” She teased.

“Ain’t nothing chappy about these lips, ask Justin.” Kerry interjected, but quickly caught herself.

“Hmmm,” Lauren said, eyeing her sister down. “What does that supposed to mean? Are you and Justin back kicking it?”

“No, Ms. Nosy,” Kerry responded. “I was just saying that when he used to kiss these lips.”

“Yeah, yeah, nice save,” Lauren responded. “It’s something going on between the two of you. Last weekend when he showed up to get the kids, y’all were first ducked off down the hall, and then by the time he made it back up front, he had a cut look on his face. “

“So, what does that mean?”

“It means that you’re being sneaky about your love life.”

“I’m not being sneaky. Did Bianca say anything, because she came in the room where we were talking about Ciara’s condition while I was giving him some medicine for her?”

“Does it look like y’all tell me things? I have to sit back and figure shit out on my own.”

“Well, as long as you didn’t hear or see anything then there is nothing to speculate about. Speaking of speculations, I see that bruise on your arm.” She said, causing Lauren to look down at it with a frown on her face.

“Well,” she said, waiting to see what Kerry had to say.

“Well, you sure that nigga ain’t putting his hands on you?”

“Girl, you gotta be kidding me, right? I’m in my own car today ain’t I? I’m tired of this shit. He better get it together before his ass finds himself looking for another girlfriend. I don’t take care of grown ass men. I really don’t.”

“I feel you Sis,” Kerry said. “But how did that happen?”

“You know I’m clumsy and I’m walking while fussing at your nephew and by the time I turn around, BOOM; I hit my arm on the wall. I know, I know,” she repeated like she hated it happened. “I should’ve been paying attention, but that shit really hurt.”

“It looks like it did.” Kerry said with a frown. “So, is Rich willing to step up or what?”

“I don’t know, but he needs to do something and something soon.”

“Yes, he sure does,” Mrs. Ware said as she started down the stairs. She never missed a bit when it came to her girls.

“Mom, don’t start going in on Rich. We’re good, okay.”

“Okay,” Mrs. Ware said while holding her brown leather Michael Kors purse in her hand. “Are y’all ready to go?”

“Yes, we’ve been sitting down here waiting for about thirty minutes. I mean what were you and dad doing up there?” Lauren asked, and then looked over at Kerry suggesting that she was giving their dad a blow job.

“Eww, stop it,” Kerry whispered.

“I told you,” Lauren whispered back with a light chuckle.

“You’re sick, let’s go.” She said, standing to her feet as they exited the house, following Mrs. Ware out to her new 750 BMW and climbed inside it.

Once out in the car, Lauren couldn’t wait to start. “Mom, have you heard anything from ShaKita, lately?”

“No, I haven’t. She stopped by the day before yesterday, but she only fixed herself a plate to go, and then she was out.”

“So, she came by your house the day before yesterday to fix a plate. Hmmm,” She said, already trying to figure out something out.

“Girl, what are you trying to piece together now?” Kerry asked as she sat in the backseat of the car, shaking her head at Lauren’s nosy ass.

“Well, she came by my house twice this week to grab a plate to go, and then she dipped out. I asked her had CoCo stopped cooking for her greedy behind and she never responded. I think its trouble in paradise.”

“Lolo, you’re always in your sister’s business. I think you need to focus more on getting that dead beat out of your house.” Mrs. Ware said, like she didn’t have a care in the world how her daughter felt about her making that statement.

“Mom, that wasn’t very nice. Rich has never done anything to you. I should’ve never mentioned anything going on in my house, because now y’all want to make a big deal out of it.”

“I just call it how I see it.” Mrs. Ware chimed in as she glanced over toward her daughter then back at the road again. She then put on her signal light to turn into the Walgreens parking lot. “I don’t want you to find yourself tied down with a man that is no good for you. He drives your car more than you do, he doesn’t pay any bills, and he practically lives there with you. I mean, I don’t care how good the sex is. You have got to wake up and see this for what it really is. The man is using you and he’ll continue to use you as long as you allow him to.”

“You heard that,” Kerry chimed in.

“Hush Kerry,” Lauren said with a swift roll of her eyes. “No one asked you anything. I’ll have another talk with Rich about what he plans on doing.”

Mrs. Ware parked the car and then looked over at Lauren with serious eye contact. “What he plans on doing is having you take care of him. This talk needs to be about him getting his shit and moving out of your place. I’m telling you the sooner the better.”

Lauren frowned. “Gracious mom, you can be so cold at times.”

“But, mom is telling the truth and you know it.” Kerry commented.

“Again, nobody asked you.” Lauren reminded her as she unfastened her seatbelt and got out of the car with an attitude. They clearly knew that she’d gotten pissed off since she kept walking right into the store without them.

Kerry smiled a little, opening the back door and getting out. “She’s mad now, Mom.”

“I really don’t care,” Mrs. Ware responded, pressing the lock button on her key chain and entering the store with Kerry walking right beside her. “I saw that bruise on her arm. I’m no fool.”

“So, mom you think-”

Mrs. Ware cut her off. “I know that he put his hands on my child. She had better end this relationship or it’s going to get worse than that.”

Kerry was speechless, because Lauren wasn’t the type to just let a man put his hands on her. She was definitely the more outspoken one and before she’d let a man whoop her ass, she’d leave his ass.

Meanwhile, Lauren was scrolling down the feminine aisle looking for the tampons. She was glad that her period had come on. Lord knows that she didn’t want a baby by Rich with his broke ass. She’d also made a doctor’s appointment to see her OBGYN to make sure that it wouldn’t happen since she was going to get back on birth control. She’d already been fooled into having her son by Jamal. She wasn’t about to be put in the same predicament fooling around with Rich. Even though she’d always make sure that he used a condom, at times he’d slip up and didn’t use one.

As she walked down the aisle, passing all sexual lubricants on one side and the baby products on the other, she damn near stopped in her tracks, having to stop herself from staring.

Is that Shannon?
She questioned herself as she eased on by her.
OMG, it is her and this bitch is looking at pregnancy tests. I need to find Kerry.

She couldn’t move as she stood just a few inches down from Shannon. Just the thought of knowing that Justin had probably gotten his young tender roni knocked up was more than enough reason for Kerry to not take his grimy ass back. As Lauren continued to cut her eyes at her, pretending to be looking for the right box of tampons, another woman walked up and started talking to Shannon.

“You would not believe who just walked in.” The lady said.

“Who?” Shannon asked with a frown on her face.

“Justin’s ex wife, Kerry.”

Shannon’s facial expression scowled at just hearing Kerry’s name. She quickly picked up two of the pregnancy test. “Let’s get the hell out of here. I definitely don’t want to run into that ugly bitch.”

Ugly,
Lauren quickly thought.
She’s one to talk.

“Take your time and pick out which two tests you want to get. Don’t let that bitch run you off. Hell, you got her man now. If he wanted her dead pussy ass he wouldn’t be with you.” The woman said with a smug grin on her face. “She’s old fashioned, definitely not cute, and she has a wide load of an ass. I mean, who wants that?”

Shannon stood in silence for a moment. She knew that her sister was just trying to make her feel better, because Kerry was far from ugly and she had one of the toughest bodies she’d ever seen. Plus, Justin was not long ago over to her house after midnight, which only meant that she still had something that he wanted.

“You’re right. I’m not running out of here just because that bitch is somewhere lurking. She doesn’t scare me.”

Shannon’s sister propped her hand on her hip. “That’s right. Your older sister is here with you. Let her ratchet ass try something if she wants to. I’ll take it to that bitch’s ass.”

“We didn’t come here for trouble.” Shannon said. “I just wanna get this test and go home to see if I’m expecting.”

“Uh, excuse me,” Lauren said as she stood back and let them vent about her sister for a second. Shannon looked over in her direction. She was certainly taken aback looking at someone who resembled Kerry so much. “The lady that y’all are standing here talking about is my sister. You might wanna watch what you’re saying about her.”

“Oh my God,” Shannon whispered. She had noticed the lady standing there, but didn’t think much of it. “Look, we didn’t-”

“You don’t have to explain shit to this bitch.” Her sister jumped in.

“Nicole, chill out.” Shannon said to her big sister.

“No, you sure don’t,” Lauren said. “I’m not the one to explain shit to. However, you ratchet bitches ain’t gonna sit here and talk about my sister like she’s a dog. That’s for sure.”

“Who the hell do you think you are? You can get some of this too with your bitch.” Nicole said, taking off her earrings.

“Nicole,” Shannon called out, trying to hold her sister back.

“Naaaaah, I’ll show this bitch Ratchet.” Nicole said with a jerk of the neck. The store wasn’t that crowded, but an elderly lady had stopped to see the action as she stood there listening.

“Show me,” Lauren said, ready to get ‘bout it ‘bout it. Nicole was definitely putting on a show like she just wanted to fight so badly. Lauren laughed at her, looking like a fool. “I’m telling you, sweetie. This ain’t what you want. You standing here talking about my sister, but have you looked in the mirror lately with them duck lips and feet that look like they’re a size 13 in men shoes. Girl Bye!”

Nicole attempted to reach around Shannon and hit Lauren, but Shannon pushed her back. “Not here,” she said. “Let’s just go. Ain’t nobody got time to be going to jail.”

“I wish that bitch would’ve put her hands on me.” Lauren stated through gritted teeth, just as Shannon was getting Nicole to turn around and leave the confrontation. Before they could leave the aisle good, Kerry bent the corner to see what the chaos was about after hearing Lauren’s foul mouth from close by. She bumped right into Shannon and Nicole, causing Shannon to drop the pregnancy tests that she was holding on the floor.

Kerry looked from Shannon’s stunned face down to the floor, noticing the pregnancy tests. The look on her face was flustered as her eyes went back to Shannon.

“You better get your sister before I beat her ass.” Nicole said with an attitude as Lauren walked up behind them.

“Nicole!” Shannon called out to hush her. “Let’s just go.” She didn’t want any trouble. Plus, she knew that Kerry had already threatened her at Ciara’s school before and she fully believed those threats.

“First off, I don’t take threats lightly and if you put one finger on my sister I will beat you senseless in this muthafuckin’ store. You got that, bitch!” Kerry said.

“BITCH-” Nicole yelled out, but was cut off just as Kerry grabbed her around the neck of her shirt and rammed her into the shelf behind them. Kerry had hit her about two times as Shannon attempted to get in a lick in hopes of helping her sister, but was quickly pushed to the floor by Lauren. A large man came out of nowhere to break up the tussle between the girls. It was really no fight, because it was broken up pretty quickly.

“We’ll get them, Sis. Don’t worry.” Shannon said like she now had an attitude since Lauren had shoved her on the floor. Nicole was struggling to get loose from the man as Kerry and Lauren just stood there hoping that she was successful so they could drag her ass. Unfortunately, Mrs. Ware stepped around the corner and ordered her girls out of Walgreens. She was pissed that they’d act like that in public.

The guy that was holding Nicole led her and Shannon to the back of the store so that they could cool off. He was hoping to give Kerry and Lauren time to leave so that no one went to jail for disorderly conduct.

Outside, Mrs. Ware was letting the girls have it as they made it to the car. “What in the hell is wrong with y’all? Who were those women that y’all were about to fight?” She questioned as she hit the unlock button to get inside of the car.

Kerry got in first, now feeling somewhat embarrassed as Lauren’s big mouth started going in. “Mom that was the trick who Justin is with now. You know, the lil young girl name Shannon.” She said, trying to be funny. “Can you believe that they were actually standing there talking about Kerry like a dog, not knowing that I was listening to them.”
