No way, baby.
Adam had no intention of being
side-tracked.
Be nice.
He counseled himself.

"That's okay, ma'am." He said. "The package
is addressed to Miss MJ O’Rourke, who I believe is this beautiful
lady right here."

Lame.
He cringed inside but kept smiling.

Alva sat down disapprovingly.

MJ looked up and it felt like those stunning
eyes had pierced him in a dream. She still didn't say a thing. She
just looked.

Oh my God. He thought.
Kill me now. It's her.

It was his dream girl
alright.
To a goddamn T.
He smiled at her. It was all he could think to
do.

MJ was lost for words. Adam had come out of
nowhere and now suddenly this good looking guy was shining down on
her with the sweetest smile she had seen in a long time. He was
exactly the kind of guy she went for, physically anyway: tall,
athletic, and strong. However, he was a bit old to be a cycle
courier. Probably some college dropout who would cycle until his
knees gave out, she thought, and then work in a mail room someplace
until his retirement.

"Ma'am, may I just say that you have the
most beautiful eyes I have ever seen?" He cringed inside again.
Always the same, as soon as it counted he went to pieces,
unleashing the cheesiest of remarks.

MJ stared at him. Guys came on to her all
the time, so this was nothing new. Ever since her boobs had
appeared larger than life in early puberty, boys had been falling
over themselves to get next to her.

Always the wrong guys though, like this
cycle courier Casanova. She didn’t need the hassle.

Jesus, she's still not
saying anything.
Adam began to
panic.

"Did you say something to me?" MJ finally
said.

"Ma'am?"

"Pay no mind to her, young man." Alva said.
"She’s not quite all there today -- or any day, by the looks of
things. You might need to give a good rap on her forehead to get an
answer. Are you sure I can't help you with that delivery?"

I'll knock on your damn
forehead.
He thought.
Just fuck off already.

"Thank you, ma'am." He
said and smiled as broadly as he could.
Be
nice, be nice.
"May I say that you are one
absolutely fine looking lady?" He wasn't lying and the Caribbean
beauty looked positively embarrassed by his directness.

"But as I said, the parcel is for Ms.
O’Rourke here. And just in case you didn't hear me ma'am," he
looked straight into MJ's eyes, his deep blue meeting her startling
green, "I said that you have, indisputably, the most enchanting and
beautiful set of green eyes that I have ever seen."

MJ's jaw fell open this time. Was it the
look in his eyes as he said the sweet words that caught her off
guard?

She waited for her usually razor sharp wit
to roll off her tongue and slice him sideways.

But nothing came.

"Uh... thank you." She said.

Christ.
He thought.
You don't
even know how beautiful you are, do you?
He could tell when a girl wasn't used to taking compliments.
It kind of turned him on. The effect of the simple truth on them
was unbelievable.

I can't wait to get you
under me, you beautiful angel.
He thought
and then gulped as he felt his rod coming to life again.

Thank God for the baggy pants.

He smiled again. That charming smile.

"No, thank
you,
MJ." He said.
"Accepting a compliment is becoming a lost art and your
graciousness and charm has just made me feel like the happiest guy
in town today."

Then he saw something he hadn't seen since
high school.

MJ was more used to watching guys like him
run away at the point of her sharp tongue. Accepting compliments
wasn’t her thing and the exchange had put her off-balance. Her skin
began to burn.

You have got to be kidding
me…
She thought as she felt the color
rise. With her pale skin she knew she would look like a stop light
in seconds.

I don’t believe this…

She was blushing. Adam was aghast. This
gorgeous woman, this knockout dream girl was actually beginning to
blush? With her pale skin, he could actually see the color rising
inch by inch, going up her neck and into her cheeks. In seconds she
would be as red as a tomato in the sunshine.

All of the sudden, she came to life, clumsy
and flustered, trying to take and sign for the package before her
face completed its transformation from pale white to crimson
red.

I've got to have
you.
Adam thought.

New York City, his home town, was so full of
hard necks, hard asses, and shameless, selfish assholes. Even
children didn't blush anymore. And here was this beautiful diamond
of sweetness and raw sexuality right here in the middle of it
all.

Kill me now.
He thought.
But not
until after I fuck her brains out.

"Where do I sign?" She tried to sound as
business like as she could, but it was useless. He held onto the
package transfixed, watching her skin begin to burn.

She tried to hide her face but there was
nowhere to turn.

Adam was too much in heaven to feel guilty
about the discomfort he was causing her.

"Hell girl, you are burning up over there."
Alva said. "You having a hot flash or something? I didn't know you
were in the change of life already."

God damn it.
MJ thought.
He’s just a
cycle courier for Christ's sake.

Conceding defeat, she threw back her long,
sumptuous red hair and stood up, defiantly lifting her crimson face
into full view. She looked at Alva and then back to Adam, but her
sense of defiance wobbled as she realized that he was even more
gorgeous than she had imagined. Somehow he looked manicured, even
underneath his layer of courier grunge.

And he was still smiling at her.

He couldn't stop. He was paralyzed,
breathless.

She let go of the package and smiled
back.

"Is that package for me or isn’t it?" She
said.

He nearly died again.

Thank you God.
Finally he found his tongue.

"Change of life?" he ignored her question,
"You can change my life any time."

There was a short silence and then all three
of them broke into laughter.

"You are one hell of a charmer, boy." Alva
said. "'Change my life anytime.'" She chuckled to herself.

"Okay, handsome." MJ said with a grin. "I'll
admit you’re a cute one". If he had been capable of it, Adam would
have blushed himself at the remark, but the only thing filling with
warm red blood was his dick. "And you got me. Now where the hell do
I sign for this thing?"

"No need to sign. But I will need your phone
number in order to deliver. The sender was very clear on that."

I'm sorry Blake,
he thought,
but this
girl deserves better than an asshole like you.

MJ folded her arms and stared at him.

Do it. Do it. Do it. MJ,
come on.
He kept smiling but his stare was
intent.
Please l
et this be the start of something. Don't send me away. Come
on, just your number please.
He
willed her to cave in and accept a beautiful destiny with him, a
lifetime of adventure, love, and crazy sex together
forever.

It was the first time a guy had tried to get
her number this way. So okay, it was slightly original. But MJ had
been waiting her whole life to meet the right guy and she was
determined in the meantime not to waste any time with
happy-go-lucky losers, good looking, charming or otherwise.

"You know," she said, "this could begin to
get annoying."

"Ma’am, as much as I would love to have your
number, this really isn’t about me. The sender wants it. In fact,
he insists."

"He?" Alva raised an eyebrow.

MJ sighed. It had been so long since she had
been with someone.

With anyone.

"How about you give
me
your
number?"
She said. "Will that get you out of here?"

He grinned.
That's a start, but we can do better than
that.
He thought.

"I don't know, Ms O’Rourke. The sender was
very particular--"

"The sender will have to be happy with what
he gets."

"I’m sorry, Ms. O’Rourke. Unless I get that
number, I’m under strict instructions not to part with this
item."

He waited.

She looked at him like an adult humoring a
child. Would she give in?

"What kind of courier service is this
exactly?" She said.

Okay, baby. You win. You're the boss. For
now.

"Okay," he said, sidestepping the question,
"just this once I'll break the rules, but only because I just can't
resist those damn sexy eyes of yours."

He gave his sexy smile again and MJ felt
herself melt.

Adam grinned widely. Was that the beginning
of another sweet sexy blush again?

MJ felt herself begin to redden but she was
able to swallow it this time. She had been a chronic blusher as a
teenager but had long since mastered the problem. It was so long
ago that she had forgotten the trick, but it came back to her
now.

Adam was disappointed. He would have to wait
to see that cute flush again. Maybe sometime when he was going down
on her or making her scream his name after her tenth orgasm.

He scribbled down the number and slid it
over to her. Then he left without a word; just a dark, sensuous
glance that promised delivery of a whole other kind.

MJ couldn’t help but smile until she saw
Alva watching her like a hawk. She sat down quickly, glanced at the
number, and then put it away.

No way.
She thought.
Never in a
million years.

She felt Alva’s eyes burning into her.

"More like the bitch is in heat than the
change of life." She muttered, just loud enough for MJ to hear.

It was enough. She stood up, put her jacket
on, and strode to the entrance with her envelope in hand.

"Cover for me." She said loudly. "I'll be
back in ten."

She didn't wait for the response.

Chapter Two

Joshua Drummond sat in his office playing with his
mobile phone. He loved the view of the downtown New York financial
district that his top floor office gave him, but today all he could
think of was where his roommate Adam was. The image of the girl on
his phone was some consolation. Ever since he had received it, he
had been unable to stop looking at it.

Everything about MJ was absorbing to him and
for the last week he had attended only to business that was
absolutely necessary. Luckily, there were plenty of people in his
organization who could take care of the day-to-day running of his
many businesses. It was one of the perks of being young and
fabulously wealthy. If something took your interest, you could
devote as much time to pursuing it as you wanted.

For the last two weeks it had been MJ.

"This can’t go on much longer." He mumbled.
Two weeks was a long time to be obsessed with someone without
having taken any real action, other than putting a security detail
on them and watching their every move. The problem was there was no
way for him to approach her. He had made a promise to himself and
to other people who were important to him that he would take no
direct action.

Everything about it went against the grain.
Normally he could take what he wanted, when he wanted. He hated any
kind of subterfuge.

But he had to do something. He picked up his
phone.

"Jonas?"

"Yes, sir?"

"Where are you?"

"I’m outside her office right now."

"Anything going on?"

"Just a courier delivering something at the
moment. Looks like he’s on his way out of the building
already."

"Okay, good. Stay there and keep me
posted."

"Will do, sir."

He ended the call and went back to looking
at pictures of MJ on his phone.

I have my pick of
beautiful women in this town or any town in the USA. So why this
one girl?
He couldn’t understand the
fascination himself, but it didn’t make it any easier to
bear.

Chapter Three

"She took my phone number." Adam said to a random
stranger as he pushed his bike out into the street. He had his head
in the clouds and a rod of steel in his pants. There were still a
lot of deliveries he needed to get done today, but he didn’t
care.

"She blushed." He said. "All I did was tell
her she had nice eyes!" People gave him a wide berth. There were
plenty of crazies in New York City.

He got onto his bike and shot out into the
traffic, making excellent time as he sailed through the sea of
cars. When he hit his first stop light, he smiled at a cab driver
with the window down and his arm hanging outside.

"She took my phone number." He repeated to
the driver with a huge smile. The man looked back at him
witheringly.

"Sucker." He said. "She got rid of you that
easily? What are you, twelve? Go suck my d--" The lights changed
and the cabbie sped off through the intersection.

Adam stood with his mouth open. Getting MJ
to take his number had seemed like a lot when she was in front of
him. He had been half afraid to breathe in case she evaporated like
a dream. Now he felt like the biggest idiot in New York City. The
cabbie was right.
