“I do. Every time I gaze at Xander and Baby Kaz, I have this thought and it’s I’m one of the luckiest men on earth because I found my soul mate and I have such a wonderful family. My life couldn’t be better because I have you by my side and that means everything to me.”

She kissed his lips and their passion for one another ignited yet again in a growing inferno of heat, lust, desire and pure unadulterated love. It was so easy for them to come together again and become one. They made love like they fought, with so much passion, it escaped through their pores and kept them both on edge yet full of love for one another.

In the afterglow of their lovemaking session, they finally fell asleep in one another’s arms and it felt right, perfect and honest.

Kaz had finally met his match and this one was a firecracker. She was stronger than him and would always be there for him. There was no doubt in his mind, he was one of the few who found love the third time around and the thought made him fade into his dreams with a smile on his face and pure unadulterated bliss in his heart.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Happy New Year!

THE NEW YEAR’S Eve concert held at Vogue Hotel and Casino was beyond brilliant and I’d dressed the part knowing it would be; Scarlet Fever and Winter’s Regret on the same stage again? Together they made magic and I had no doubt in my mind it wouldn’t be any different that New Year’s Eve.

I wore a short black designer skirt which showed off my toned legs, a slinky silver halter top from some big time French designer and knee length Christian Louboutin shit kicking boots with four inch heels that could slice a man’s dick off.

My honey blonde hair was down and had recently been cut to shoulder length. I seriously didn’t need all the hair and with the chestnut lowlights I’d added, I actually looked young and carefree.

Talia texted me to meet her in her dressing room back stage as she got ready for her performance. Unfortunately, I got held up in the VIP section watching all the different live acts.

It had been a night of outstanding songs and great acts.

The winner from
Talented Voices
, Gemma Hughes, had wowed the crowd with her rendition of Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” followed by a haunting take of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb”.

After she’d stepped off the stage, Damian Phillips was in prime shape to warm the crowd up with his sexual and bass heavy songs. He sang two of his number one hits from his latest album, “Ready When U R” and “Simply Beautiful.” The second was a mid-tempo song and the women in the audience screamed their appreciation before he said good night to the audience.

His performance was followed by an obviously drunk but still lively act by Trilogy. Sydney found it amazing that Juli could sing just as well intoxicated as she could sober and she had some deep-throated, sexy-voiced, rockin’ songs for the crowd.

“I hope you’re tired of that easy listening shit,” she began as she swallowed a shot of Jack Daniels on stage. “Because Trilogy doesn’t play easy…we play motherfuckin’ hard! So get ready because here we come and we are ready to rock you.”

Her cigarette laced voice was intoxicating as the band broke into a rendition of one of the crowd’s all-time faves, “Buy Me A Little Happiness”. She sang the way she lived and her voice was hypnotic, haunting, grating and beautiful at the same time.

I’ve been down and out for too long

and that’s why I wrote this fucking song.

To all of you who betrayed me,

made me suck you off and then left me,

I’m up here for you—scars and all!

Daddy, daddy, please see me,

don’t think you fucking need me

to be the silent one in your kingdom of hell.

I’ve stripped myself down to the bone,

I can’t belong to anyone,

the road is mine and it’s my home

and you’ll never see me again.

She paused as she played a gorgeous solo on her bass while her boyfriend strummed his guitar like it was a part of his body before she broke into the chorus.

We have tonight, we might have tomorrow

but all we know is that life brings us sorrow.

So I wait with anticipation,

swallow shots with my imagination,

don’t think I need you around.

If you can’t take me as I am,

will you feel bad when I confess,

fuck you, I’ll buy myself a little happiness…

buy me a little happiness.

I shook my head because if Gemma Hughes was a younger version of Chyna Bleu who had yet to play than Juli was a younger version of Talia nipping at her heels.

I finally broke away and strolled to Talia’s dressing room where I sat on the sofa as she looked up at the screen monitor every now and then. “Juli’s good, isn’t she? Now you know why I had to have them on our upcoming tour.”

“Most definitely. Are you going abroad?”

“It hasn’t been decided yet but this tour will only three months so if we do decide to go abroad, it’ll probably be Western Europe, Japan and Australia. I can’t do another long winded tour like we did with the Gods of Rock. To be honest, the road is no place for a baby and I hate I have to bring Kaelan along but I couldn’t stand to be apart from him all that time either. However, it does give me a break from Jaden and I have given him that time to make up his mind. By April, he’ll either have to shit or get off the pot. I’m tired of the goddamn merry-go-round to be honest and I am too old to be any man’s ‘secret’ lover.”

She paused and stopped applying her mascara. “By the way, did you hear what happened to Faith?”

There was a name from the past. I hadn’t been keeping up with my best friend lately therefore I merely shook my head. “What happened to her?”

“Apparently, Mz. Thang planned on crashing you and Kaz’s wedding. She was pulled over by a Nevada Highway Patrolman. You know there’s that zero tolerance thing here when it comes to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs…well, he suspected her of being intoxicated. Her vehicle was searched and they didn’t find any booze but they found a shitload of prescription drugs and cocaine.

“She called her mommy and step-daddy to come save her but they won’t be able to get her out of doing jail time since she’s already been in rehab and has had numerous offenses covered up by the police department in Calabasas. It doesn’t look good for her…that’s all I can tell you.”

Although I wanted to feel sorry for Faith, I couldn’t conjure up any sympathy. She truly needed help but didn’t think she had a problem because she was still beautiful and only used drugs when she thought she needed them. Obviously, she was heading in a very wrong direction and she would pull everyone around her down with her. I had a family to think about and couldn’t be bothered to get myself caught in a situation that would put me or anyone I cared about at risk.

“Does Jaden know?”

“Yeah but he can’t do anything either and ironically, her parents blame him for
her
problems. They’ve filed a restraining order against him. He’s not allowed to come within five hundred yards of her or they can have him arrested on the spot. He’s out of her life—physically—at least for now.” Talia stood and stretched languidly.

“Showtime.” I smiled at her before she strolled over and embraced me.

Chyna Bleu had just finished her set and as always, the woman was amazing. With a body to die for, long blonde hair—professionally dyed—killer blue eyes and a voice that would make Christina Aguilera jealous, the woman was talented and a certified pop star with over one hundred million albums sold across the world during the span of her ten year career. She was only twenty-eight and already on her way to becoming a legend.

“Good luck.” Talia and I pulled away from one another as she winked at me.

“Let’s hope I don’t need it!” She walked out of her dressing room and moments later, I heard her yelling into the mic, “Vegas, are you ready to rock?”

The first strings of their current number one hit, “Love’s An Illusion” began and the crowd went wild.

It was time for me to check on the love of my life.

Scarlet Fever was the final band before the clock struck midnight and as always, the best was saved for last.

Talia’s haunted voice followed me through the maze of hallways that was the backstage area.

When I wake, and I’m all alone.

And there you are again, blowin’ up my phone.

It’s a warning, and I hear it from my friends.

I have to wonder, will this pain ever end?

I can’t take it, my heart is burnin’.

I hear your voice then, and I feel the yearnin’.

I stopped walking and watched Winter’s Regret perform on one of the flat screens in the hallway.

Will this be over and when will the nightmare ever end?

My heart is broken and some tears just won’t mend.

We’re going nowhere way too damn fast.

This kind of love was never meant to last.

Kris, Seth and Linx played in sync and as Niko expertly played the drums, Talia began the chorus.

Your love’s an illusion, my worst confusion.

You told me to have faith and my world would change

but the only thing I’m feeling is estranged.

I won’t take it anymore and I’m showing you the door.

Pack your fuckin’ bags and leave the key…

I won’t allow you to make a fool out of me.
