Cajun

A couple of hours later, Olivia began to awaken. Groaning, she rubbed her forehead with her fingertips.

Pleased she finally roused, Cajun kissed her shoulder. “I’ll get you some water.”

“Don’t go.” She turned toward him, burying her face against his chest. “You smell good. Always so good.” One of her hands navigated south along his abdomen. “I want to eat you up,” she said as her palm dragged lower until she palmed his growing erection.

Grabbing her hand, he rolled her to her back and clamped her arm on the bed beside her head. Her free hand curled around his neck, and he buried his in her hair, trapping her against the bed as his knee wedged between hers. Nipping at her lips, he slid his thigh upward to anchor against her pussy. Olivia rocked her core against his leg, eyes rounding as she hissed at the friction.

“Your friends are outside waiting for you to wake up.”

“Don’t care.” She obviously did because a little bit of her lust died in her eyes. “I need to feel you inside me. Need to feel you when I come.”

“I won’t expose you that much, catin.” He slid his lips along her cheekbone. “We’re vulnerable with our pants down, and I don’t trust them.”

Olivia lifted her head and bit him where his neck and shoulder met. She dug her teeth in without breaking skin, but it was enough for his cock to twitch against the rough cotton of his sweats. Licking the flesh trapped between her teeth, she dragged her hand up from his nape to scrap her nails across his scalp.

“I thought I’d lost you,” she said when she finished bruising his skin. A mark he’d wear proudly.

Lifting his head, he cupped her chin, notching her head back and forcing her to hold his gaze. “Jessie wasn’t sufficient competition. I put him down easily, like the rabid dog he was.”

“I forgot about him. He wasn’t my concern. I worried the sorceri would hurt you after they knocked me out. I tried to expel the poison with my magic, but it didn’t work. If I hadn’t wasted my energy on it, I could’ve knocked them out with my magical ball. I was so sure they’d use you against me. Even feared I might never see you again.” Her voice cracked. “I’ve never been so scared in my life, Cajun.”

Did that mean she cared more about him than she’d let on? It didn’t matter. She cared for him in some capacity, and he was in love with her. Because of his love, his beast wouldn’t allow him to give her anything less than what she desired.

Cajun kissed her, driving his tongue inside her mouth to tongue-fuck her. Olivia clung to him like he was a lifeline. Using one hand, he unhooked the button on her jeans, the zipper purring loud as he lowered the metal. He shoved her pants down a few inches at a time, and she lifted her hips for them to lower the denim over her bottom. She took over then, releasing a single leg, and leaving the other encased in denim. Olivia wrapped her bare leg around his hip, pressing her foot against his ass and bent the knee of her jean-clad leg.

Her palms dove beneath the waistband of his sweats and cupped his ass, shoving at the cotton just enough they wedged low on his hips releasing his cock. “Fuck me, Theodore. Fuck me like it’s our last hour on this earth or like we barely survived.”

He glanced at the door, wanting to give her what she obviously needed, but worried about her safety. Warring with his animal for the safety of their mate was a new thing, and he didn’t know how to proceed.

As if she read his concern, he felt layer after layer of her magic coating the room. Using her grip on his hair, she growled and turned his face toward her. He loved it when she mocked him with a growl. She bit his bottom lip hard enough to draw blood. The red drops dotted her lips as she said, “They can’t get through that.”

She licked the red droplets away, and he kissed her. As he shoved his tongue inside her mouth, he impaled her on his cock. He swallowed her shocked scream, and her sudden lurch upward was halted by the weight of his body. They crashed into one another, her eyes wide, her breath erratic, and her whispered “yes” had him fighting for control.

He fucked her like a maniac. Hard. Hard enough the bedframe bumped against the wall with each thrust inside her. She met each of his lunges, swaying beneath him in perfect timing. And it still wasn’t enough.

Cajun pulled out and yanked her jeans off, flinging them over his shoulder, before rolling her to her belly. Clutching her hips, he jerked her pelvis up. Her knees settled beneath her, and he impaled her again.

She fisted the bed linens, her throaty cries turning him feral. Her cunt squeezed him, and he groaned, realizing he hadn’t wrapped a condom around his dick. He’d worn protection after he fucked her twice that first time. His wolf said it was too late now, but the man respected her too much to forget it.

He shoved deep and went motionless. Leaning over her, with his hands braced on either side of her shoulders, he nipped at the back of her ear. “I forgot the condom.”

“Don’t care.” Olivia turned her head just enough she could side-eye him. Her pussy muscles tightened on his length, released and tightened again, and his wolf whined for him to keep fucking her. “Don’t care, Cajun. I’m yours. Don’t need the condom.”

His wolf jerked forward, and his claws burst free, tearing through the mattress, and he gave it to her rough again. But it wasn’t enough, wasn’t deep enough, or close enough, something was missing.

He curled his hand around her throat and sat back on his heels, drawing her up with him. Her back rested against his chest, her legs spread wide over his bent thighs, and his cock slid as deep as he could get inside her hot, tight pussy.

My pussy. My woman.

In agreement with his wolf’s claim, Cajun lowered his hand from her neck to squeeze a clothed breast, and traversed lower over her naked belly until his fingers swirled about her clit. As he began to rock up into her tight body, he plucked at her nub and through the fabric of her shirt and bra teased her nipple.

Theodore
.” Whispered with feeling, he knew she enjoyed this position. One of her hands landed on the back of his hand that played with her clitoris. Her other arm lifted, and she reached back to cup his head, the move thrust her breasts up and the one into his palm. Cajun grazed his teeth over her shoulder wanting to mate her—
not without her permission
—while he pinched a little harder on her nipple and clitoris.

Olivia turned her face just enough their gazes met. “Bite me.”

He froze where he sucked and scrapped his teeth along her flesh. A different spot from where he’d temporarily marked her last time. “No.” Not moving was hell, but he took joy in the clenching of her channel on his length. “If I do it again or any harder, I’ll mate you.”

Olivia moved, fucking him, and used his fingers, guiding them with hers, over her clit. Her icy-blue eyes held his, and it was hot as hell knowing she took her pleasure, squeezing even harder on his erection, until he was gasping on groans that sounded more like growls, and she smirked at the pleasure she wrenched from him.

Goddamn, she fucks like a goddess.

Olivia yanked on the short strands of hair at his nape. “Fuck me, damn you, like you’ll never be inside me again.”

Cajun wrapped an arm around her waist and clamped down, holding her still with his dick filling her. The minx gave a frustrated groan, but focused on squeezing and releasing him with her muscles. He scraped his teeth along her neck. Gooseflesh erupted along her skin, and she gave a breathy moan as she slanted her head to give him all the landscape he desired. “I’m gonna give it to you, catin.”

“Not soon enough.” Face scrunched she attempted to move, but he held her steady. “I’m dying.”

He chuckled at her drama, but then she started cunt-squeezing his dick again, and his chuckles died, his control slipping. Olivia Scott did not play fair. Cajun gave it to her, fucking her and playing with her clit. Her head lolled on his shoulder as her eyes rolled in her head. She clearly enjoyed herself and encouraged his thrusts with little backward thrusts of her own.

He laved his tongue over the broken flesh where he’d bitten her during their lovemaking a few days ago. But he wouldn’t bite her no matter how much he wanted to mate her.

Only a few minutes passed before she came, her passage sucking on his length so perfectly he joined her, grazing his teeth on the wound, as he filled her with his seed. What would he do if she became pregnant? They weren’t mated, and no promises had been spoken between them.

Shoving the thoughts aside, he caught her chin between his index finger and thumb and tilted her head so he could kiss her. He kissed the tip of her nose and her brow, as her channel made divine twitches around his erection.

The hand in his hair shifted, and her fingernails trailed across the stubble on his jaw. “That was fantastic.”

Loving the sound of her just-fucked voice, Cajun kissed her again.

“Mmm… kissing you is fantastic too.” She rubbed her lips back and forth across his mouth. “Can’t get enough of you.”

“That’s the mating heat, catin.” He’d heard others compare it to being drugged, and he agreed.

“Yeah.”

“The more we fuck, the harder it’ll become to resist.”

“Yeah.”

He couldn’t read what that meant, so he changed the topic. “Ever had anal sex?”

“That’s where you go next? From mating to anal sex?” Olivia grinned, shaking her head. “You ever have anal sex?”

“Yeah.” Any topic to keep from talking about the elephant in the room—the sorceri waiting for Olivia. Cajun leaned forward, pressing her against the mattress, and pulled out. “I like ass fucking, but not all women do.” He flopped onto his back on the bed beside her, and she wiggled until she was comfy on her stomach. “Curious where you stand on it.”

Olivia turned her head to face him and trailed her fingers along his chest. “I’ve never had anal with a real person, just with my vibrator. I come harder that way. I won’t say no to trying with you.”

Cajun hauled her onto his chest, and she curved around him as if her entire body hugged him. She nuzzled his neck, and his cock wanted to get interested again. Sighing, he said, “We gotta face your kin.”

“I know.” Her lips moved against his skin. “Tell me what happened after they tranq’d me.”

Olivia

As Olivia dressed, she mused over what Skarlet had said to Cajun. It wasn’t much information, but enough to tell her the other Key wanted her help. Unsure if she should believe her or not, much less trust the other woman, she asked Cajun, “Could you scent any lies from her?”

“No, but I was distracted with your condition, and my wolf was furious.” He tugged on his shirt and then palmed her nape. “I’ll watch her closely, and I’ll let you know if she’s lying.”

Snuggling against his chest, she filled her lungs with his smell. Soon they’d have to talk about their future… mostly if there was one. The siren song slash mating heat was making her crazy. All she wanted to do was fuck him, and to hell with the world. Let it burn while he was inside her because she wouldn’t care.

“Let’s get this over with.” She kissed his chest before drawing away.

“I’ve got your back,” he said as she opened the bedroom door.

Warmth hit her squarely in the heart. No one had ever truly had her back. Anyone pretending they did, always came with conditions. Cajun committed to her without any expectations, but she reminded herself it was only because she was his mate, and his wolf wouldn’t let him act in any other way.

Pasting on her game face, the one she used whenever negotiating contracts, Olivia walked out of the bedroom with Cajun at her back. The sorceri were on the back porch where Cajun said he’d left them. Skarlet stood with her arms crossed and her face turned toward the river. Silver sat on the edge of the porch and used her finger to burn a line into a piece of wood.
Fire sorceress
. Good information to have because if Olivia doused her with water, she’d null her magic.

“The silver-haired one is a fire sorceress. She’s also the one who shot me with the tranq.”

Cajun nodded and laced their fingers together. He didn’t ask why that mattered, but just absorbed the information.

The three brunettes reclined on the furniture, but sat a little straighter when they noticed her. They gaped between her and Skarlet, but said nothing to alert the other Key of her presence.

Before she stepped outside, she drenched the veranda in magic to dull their power.

“Impressive.” Skarlet faced her and lowered her arms at her sides. “And a bit terrifying to know I’m powerless.”

“Tit-for-tat.” Olivia fingered the pinprick on her neck where the dart had hit her.

Apparently understanding Olivia’s meaning, Skarlet glared at Silver. In response to Skarlet’s glower, Silver said, “I’m sorry.”

Cajun shook his head and mentally said, “
She’s not sorry
.”

Olivia let it go because fussing over the truth of an apology wasn’t worth an argument. “Cajun told me what you said to him. I’m still deciding if I should believe you or not. What I don’t understand is why you brought the wolf with you.”

“I met up with him in town at Sassy Wolfe. It became obvious we were looking for the same person.”

“If you knew who I was, why didn’t you approach me in Hollywood or my home in Montana?”

“I didn’t know your identity until I met the wolf.”

Doubting the other woman, Olivia elevated her eyebrows, and Cajun said,
“I don’t scent a lie.”

Skarlet kept talking. “I’d pick up your power signature at random moments over the last two years, but it’d wink out too fast for me to pinpoint a general area. I’ve been scouring Hollywood with no luck. I found two of the other Keys. Now that I’ve found you, I only need to find the fifth one. You should give him the siren song and accept his mating. The pairing will make you stronger than you already are. Jessie is the only reason we were able to break through your barrier. With the mating, your weakness goes with it.”

“What is your weakness?”

That question caused the other Key to stutter. “As a show of my honesty, I dissolved the enemy wolf for you. Even his scent is gone so his pack cannot track him to this location.”

“Thanks,” Cajun said at the same time Olivia spoke. “Appreciated, but not what I asked.”

A long moment passed before the redhead said, “Fox.”

“Lie.”
Cajun’s word filtered to her immediately.

Olivia was almost glad she’d lied so they knew Cajun’s lie-meter worked properly. Even so, she’d chosen a hard-ass stance, and she’d continue with it. “I’ve no time for liars. Get off my property.”

“Please, you have to hear me out.”

“I don’t
have
time
for lies.” She blew a breath, and uttered a few words. “In thirty seconds my magic will poison yours, and you’ll start to bleed magic. Thirty seconds after that, if you’re still not off my property, you’ll die like any human who bleeds out. That gives you one minute to run like the hounds of hell are chasing you.”

It wasn’t even possible to run a mile in a minute, but that wasn’t her problem. Olivia turned away to enter her home, but Skarlet halted her. “All Keys are running out of time. We all turn thirty this year.”

Halting in the doorway, she’d didn’t look at the other woman, but didn’t halt her rapid talking either.

“You’re the only one to have found your siren song. A prophecy says when the first and oldest among us finds our siren song the rest of us will soon find ours. We all must accept our siren song, and unite as allies, or this will be the last year for Keys. The Gathering are killing our species—”

“They’re killing
Keys
, not our species.” She stared at the redhead.

“Yes. That’s true, but by killing us, they’re turning our kind extinct.”

“You breached my shields with my enemy.”

“Would you have met with us if I hadn’t forced your hand?”

“We’ll never know. If tracking me with my enemy wasn’t enough, your silver-haired Cleric shot me with a tranq. Explain to me why I should put any trust in you, Skarlet? Why I should care that Clerics are dying?”

“We’re the heart of Clerics, without us they die.”

Unmoved Olivia shrugged at Skarlet’s words.

“Haven’t you ever wondered why we’re born to
every
generation?”

Olivia shook her head. “No.”

“Throughout history we have been a cohesive unit. We draw the madness, anger, and sickness from our population.”

“We’re a Cleric filter?” At least that’s what she thought Skarlet meant.

“Yes.”

“We’ve got to go, Skarlet.” Brunette One tugged at the redhead’s shirtsleeve. “We’re running out of time.”

“This is too important.” Skarlet shrugged the other woman’s touch off. “Without all Keys coming together, the sorceri will end. Not a single new sorceri has been born since our generation, making us the last of the Keys. Surely you knew this?”

Olivia smirked. “Why would I? Three hits were made on my life before I was eighteen. I hide from the Clerics. I
hate
the Clerics for what they did to my parents and the life they’ve forced me to live.” She’d been orphaned at the age of five, lonely without anyone to care for her since then, and never getting too close to people because any friends she had were in danger. Friends also made her vulnerable, and she couldn’t fully trust anyone anyway. How many would’ve turned her in to the Gathering for the bounty they offered? The Wolfe family had been the first to breach her shields. “I don’t associate with Clerics any more than I have to, and I’ve certainly not concerned myself with their breeding habits.”

“Skarlet. Let’s go.” Silver nudged her. “Less than thirty seconds remain.”

“This is too important. Go without me.” Skarlet faced Olivia once more. “No further sorceri will be born until one of us Keys becomes pregnant by our siren song.
You
are our first hope.”

Olivia peered at Cajun from beneath her lashes. He hadn’t worn a condom earlier. Could she be pregnant now? Did she want to be? Too much uncertainty remained between them. Even so, she didn’t care if the Cleric race lived or died. “I’d prefer all my children to be shifters anyway.”

“Your daughters will only ever be sorceresses, and unless we save our species, all of your daughters will die too.”

“She’s speaks the truth.” Cajun squeezed her fingers, and she only then realized he still held her hand. “Will you allow an entire race to die simply because of a few bad seeds?”

She stared at Cajun a long while, contemplating the pros and cons of a world without Clerics. “What is your weakness, Skarlet?”

Another stutter by the redheaded Key, and her eyes closed on a sigh as she said, “Tigers.”

“Truth. How much time does she have left before she bleeds out?”

Olivia observed Cajun. In his eyes she could tell he fretted over the safety of the other woman. She couldn’t care less if the other woman lived or died, but he was a good man. His ethics and moral standard were obviously higher than hers.

“I want to meet with the other Keys before I make a decision. You’ve got two days. After that, I’ll be gone again.” She waved her hand and teleported the five women safely off her land.

“What are you thinking?” Cajun nudged her inside and shut the glass door, locking it even though her wards blocked any would-be intruders from entering.

“That I don’t like her, don’t trust her, and damn sure don’t trust her Cleric friends.”

He walked to the kitchen and retrieved a beer from the fridge. “I sensed only the one lie from her. Is there any way you can find out if your kind is in danger of extinction?”

She plucked the bottle from his grasp and took a swig before returning the alcohol to him. Wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, she stared at his mouth thinking of all the amazing things it could do.

Shaking herself out of her lusty thoughts, she walked toward the bedroom. “Maybe.” The last thing she wanted to focus on was the Key and her prophecy of doom. “I’m getting a shower.”

“Olivia, are you intentionally ignoring the elephant in the room?”

Chewing on the inside of her mouth, she turned to face him. They stared at one another, and something about his scrutiny left her feeling insecure. Crossing her arms over her chest, she would’ve hidden from him if she could’ve made it happen.

“What
is
the elephant?” she asked for no other reason than to try and sidestep the conversation.

“Denial.” Hurt flashed in his eyes, and she despised hiding from him. He finished off his beer and nodded his head. “We have something special between us, the potential to be great together. Skarlet and your mother through her diary have both told you to accept the siren song. You leave in a few days. I don’t want to push you, but I can’t keep pretending all is good. There’s a shitstorm brewing, and I don’t even know if you’ll let me protect you.”

This siren song was like a goddamn drug she couldn’t get away from because even his annoyance turned her on. Having so little control over her feelings toward him made her angry. But she wouldn’t hide from him.

“I want you to bite me. I want to give you my siren song, but I have no control, and I hate feeling like a drug addict.” She wanted to blow shit up with her magic, but held herself together. “You want my forever, and I’m afraid I can’t give you a month much less the rest of my life. I know nothing about relationships, nothing about love or trust or anything else that a relationship requires. I’m cold and detached, and I don’t give a damn if the sorceress world lives or dies.” When she realized her hands shook, she shoved them in her blue jeans’ pockets. “Most of all, I’m terrified I’ll never measure up to what you want or need.”

“Why would you think that?” He scowled. “You’ve gotta know you’re the only woman I’ve ever felt this way about.”

“It’s the mating heat, Cajun. It’s making us both crazy and irrational. Once we’re mated, you’d realize I’m not all that likeable.”

“I like you just fine.”

“You don’t know me. I’m self-absorbed—”

“A self-absorbed woman wouldn’t have given a shit if Aunt Barbara and the family was in danger. A self-absorbed woman would’ve ran for safety and said fuck them. Don’t get me started on your big-sister routine, so don’t try that bullshit with me.”

She loved the Wolfes so she’d do anything to keep them safe. And those girls needed someone at their back, needed to know they were worthy, they were special, or they could easily end up part of the criminal system. “I’m messy, and I can’t cook for shit. I don’t even know if I want babies.”

“I’m not exactly tidy.”

“Your house was spotless.” He was a bachelor, and she’d been surprised by his pristine home. “Dust free.”

“So you keep your maids. No different than you hiring on Campbell’s maid when he sold this place. How’s that a hardship?” He drew nearer; close enough she felt his heat against her crossed arms. She battled the urge to reach out and touch him. If she made contact, she’d be dragging him to the bedroom and riding him.

Fuck this goddamn mating heat
! This was the definition of insanity, forget the Key-curse that’d drive her there.

“I can cook, like to cook, so that’s a non-issue. As for babies, you might change your mind.”
