Chapter Three

STELLA

He kisses my neck.  His hot breath is making me so horny.
“Colton, you want to do it?” I ask.

“Can we, please?”

He kisses me again.  Gosh, that sends a thrill down my spine
that spreads all over.  I thought my body wouldn’t need sex after pregnancy.
But I was so wrong.  In fact, my body is now more sensitive and hungry for a
good sex.

I feel so guilty. I should stay away from sex to protect my
baby, right?

“Colton.  Oh, yeah.  Why not?”  I feel so bad that I
actually said that.
Gosh, what am I doing to my baby?

He helps me lie in bed comfortably.  Then he removes my
clothes one piece a time, looking at me with great concern.  “Stella…”

“What?”

“You think that’s going to be okay for our baby?”

I think for a few moments and then shake my head.

“You don’t think so?”  His hands stop moving.  He sounds so
disappointed.

“I’m not sure, Colton.”

“Maybe…, okay, let’s not do it then.”

But I know he wants sex badly because the bulge on his pants
is huge.

“I think we will be okay if we’re careful.” I try to make
him happy.

“Really?  How?” His eyes brighten up.

“Like…” I think for a few moments and then say, “Like not
pushing too hard.”

“Got you.” He grins.  Soon he removes my bra.  “Holy fuck,
your tits are huge.” He circles them all over.

I’m so turned on that I moan.

Colton gets very excited.  His eyes grow huge the moment he
removes my panties.  “Holy cow, Stella, your pussy is so thick and full.”

“You like it?” I smile.

“Yeah.”

“Come over.” I spread my legs.

He removes his clothes and lies down beside me.  “I’m going
to do it from behind, okay?”

“You’re not going to fuck my asshole, are you?” I tease.

“Of course not.”  He grins.

I roll to my right side and move my legs forward.  He slides
in carefully.  Oh, my, I have to admit that I’ve never been so excited for sex.
I want to come almost immediately.  “Colton, harder.” I gasp, pushing my hips his
way.

He gasps, pumping harder.  Soon, he is ramming me like
crazy.

Soon, I’m s seized by a huge orgasm.  I gasp, rolling onto
my back.  “Colton, I want you to fuck me hard and deep.”

“Sure?” He asks.

“Yup.  Hurry up.”

He rolls on to my body, ramming into me.  I scream.  At the
beginning, he is pushing his body away from mine with his elbows, trying not to
put too much pressure on my belly.  After a while, however, he crushes down
hard and fucks with all his power.

I’m a bit worried about the baby.  But now I’m so excited
that I actually push my hips high and move my body in rhythm with his thrusts,
enjoying his every stroke.

Five or six minutes later, he unloads and rolls off of me.

“Stella, was it good for you?”

“Yeah.  You?”

“Sure.  Maybe we can do it again tonight.”

“Oh, no.” I moan.  Now, I really worry about my baby.

I go pee in the morning and see blood.  Gosh, what’s going
on?  Did sex last night hurt the baby?

I almost cry.

I take a few deep breaths to calm down.  I want to make sure
before I tell Colton.

Luckily, the blood stops coming out of me.  I wipe a few
times but still see red bits seeping out, though not much.

What am I going to do now?

“Colton…”

“What?” He rolls off the bed and rushes into the bathroom.

“See?” I point to the toilet.

“What’s going on?” His eyes widen.

“I don’t know.” I almost cry.  “Colton, did we… hurt our
baby?”

“Oh, no!” He’s horrified.  “It’s all my fault.”

“No, Colton.  We made the decision together.”

“Let’s go to the doctor.” He looks at me.

I think for a few moments and say, “If something bad
happened, then it’s too late already.  Let’s wait and see.”

“How about you, Stella.  You okay?”

“Yeah, I guess.” I murmur.

It’s been three days.  Oddly, my morning sickness has disappeared.
And I no longer want to eat pickles.  My food craving is gone, too.

What’s going on?

Gosh, this is no good.

“Colton, I think…” I sob.

He holds me tight.  “Stella.  It’s all my fault.  I’m so
sorry.”

We hug, saying nothing.

“Colton.” I look at him.

“Huh?” He looks into my eyes.

“Maybe…” I bite my lower lip.

“‘Maybe’ what?” Colton rubs my back.

“Maybe we should have stuck to tradition.”

“You mean that silly sibling tradition?” He scoffs.

“Yeah.  If we did that I wouldn’t have gotten pregnant.
Then we wouldn’t have lost our baby.”

“Idiot.” He rolls his eyes.  “It was an accident.  You can
date someone else you could’ve still gotten pregnant.”

Yeah, maybe he is right.  But still I feel so guilty.

“You know what?” He looks at me.

“What?”

“Let’s have a pregnancy test.”

Chapter Four

STELLA

 “Colton, you serious?”

“Sure, why not?”

“Where did you get the idea from?”

“Well, I checked the Internet.  That was when you said you
got pregnant.”

“Oh. Great.”

We get into the rental car.  The traffic is bad.  “Why the
fuck is every asshole is on the street?”  Colton scoffs.

I look at the clock and smile, “Colton, it’s five twenty-one.
Everyone is going home.”

“We’re stuck.”  He stops the car at the traffic lights and
taps the wheel.  “Wow, look at that hot chick.” He grins.

A curvy girl is crossing the road.  “Colton, you want other
girls?  You want to fuck that chick?” I smile.

“Free entertainment, Stella.” He grins, turning on the radio.

A woman is talking about diets.  Colton reaches for the
button to switch station.  He is a big fan of hip hop.  “Wait a minute.” I stop
him.

“You like that shit?” He grins.

I swallow, shaking my head.  Gosh, her talking about food
makes me hungry.  I don’t want any of the broccoli, but cheese and chicken? I
could polish that off in a second.

Finally traffic begins to move.  I see a few restaurants and
a McDonalds.  My tummy is now rumbling.  I try to keep quiet but finally say,
“Colton, can we eat first?”

“What? You’re… hungry?”

“Uh-huh.” I nod, swallowing hard.

“Really, really hungry?”

I nod again.

“Holy cow, we still have the baby.  Give me five.”  He stops
the car on a side street.  “What do you want to eat?”

“Anything.”  Oh boy, everything sounds delicious.

“Anything?”

“Yeah.  Hmmm…” I think for a while.  “McDonalds or Kentucky
Fried Chicken.”  I smile at him.

“What? You serious?” I know why he’s so surprised. I always
stay from the junk food. I try my best to be healthy and stay in shape.  But
now, all I want is to have something that’s salty, greasy, and absolutely
yummy.

“Yeah, I’m serious.” Boy, I can’t wait.

“There’s a KFC up ahead.” He starts the car.

“I want everything to go with it.  Fries, a big drink… oh,
yeah, the dipping sauces, too.”

Colton orders a Mega Bucket.

“Colton, isn’t that too much food?”

“Don’t worry.” He winks.

I’m sure it’s a meal meant for a family.  But soon we finish
everything—fifteen pieces of chicken legs, eighteen chicken nuggets, two large mashed
potatoes with gravy, three large fries (yes, three!), one large coleslaw, and
three dipping sources.

I toss the last of the fries into my mouth and chew
carefully.  Then I lick my finger.

“You want more?” Colton leans back, smiling at me.

“Can we?” I beam.  Then I change my mind right away.  I
don’t want to grow into a pig.  “Forget it.”  I stand up.  “Let’s go.”

The traffic is a lot better now.  It’s getting dark.  The
streets are illuminated with the orange glow of street lights.  We move slowly,
trying to spot a drug store.  Soon, we see a Walgreen’s.

We walk in, holding hands.  “You go talk with those guys and
I’ll take a look.” Colton gives me a smile and then strolls away.

I’m not sure where to look.  After wondering around for a
while, I ask a sales lady for help.

“Sure.  Please follow me.”  She smiles.

There are different pregnancy test strips.  Also there are
little digital gadgets.  They vary in the number of tests available and
prices.  It’s so hard to decide which one to pick.

“What’s up, baby?” Colton strolls by.

“See, which one?” I look at him.

“Beats me.”  He looks for a while and then smiles, “Just
pick the best one there is.”  He strolls away again.

I bite my lower lip and think.  Finally I make up my mind.
Heck,
let’s go with the pretty one.

The cashier is a guy.  He looks super bored because no one
is in the line at the moment.  He passes me the receipt with a big smile,
“Thank you.”

“Thank you.” I smile back and turn to look for Colton.

“Excuse me?” The guy says.

I turn.  “Yes?”

“Um… are you from Bunker Hill College?”

I’m not sure what he means.  “Y-e-a-h…”

“Oh, hi, I’m from the college too.” He smiles.

Oh, he’s working part time here.  “Nice to see you here.” I
smile.  But I can’t remember I saw the guy anywhere.  I hesitate for a short
moment and then ask, “Did we meet somewhere?”  Maybe we met in a party or
something?  I’m not so sure.

“Ah… No.” He stumbles on his words.  “But I kind of know
you.”

I look at him, saying nothing.

He mumbles something and then smiles, “You know, you’re kind
of… um, popular.  See, people… talk.  Um, sorry.”

I’m so pissed.  Who the hell does he think he is?  “This is
not very professional, sir.” I stare at him.

“You asshole.”  Colton’s angry voice pipes up from behind.

The dude’s face turn red, and then pale.  “Sorry.” He
mumbles.

“Don’t let me catch you talking to Stella again.  You
fucking asshole.” Colton stares at him.

“Colton, let’s go.” I pull him.

“I could have punched him.” Colton’s voice is so angry.

“Colton, it’s not worth it for a dumbass like that.” I try
to calm him down.

Chapter Five

STELLA

It takes me a while to go get through my pregnancy test.  I
collect the urine sample and then tear along the notch to open the sealed
pouch.  My hand is shaking.

I then dip the strip carefully into the urine until it
reaches the max.  I count to three and pull the strip out.

We wait.

“What do you think it will be?” Colton rubs my back.

“What do you want it to be?” I turn to him and ask.

He thinks hard and then gives me a tiny smile.  “Hell. Can I
be honest with you?”

“Sure.”

“I don’t think I’m ready to take the responsibility yet.
But still, I want my son.”

“Daughter.” I roll my eyes.

“Okay, daughter.” He kisses my cheek.  “See, I’m a big kid
inside.  I just want to have more fun.  And I want to spend more time with
you.”

“We can still have fun and spend time together, Colton.”

“That’s different, Stella.  Once we have kids, you’re not
going to pay attention to me.”

“You’re just jealous, Colton.” I kiss him lightly.

“Yeah, but only a little.”  He grins.  Then he says, “Kids
are expensive, you know.”

“So, you don’t want to take the responsibility, huh?” I
tease.

“Of course I do.  But we both have school and all this other
shit to take care of.  I can’t make good money.  Oh, look.” He points to the
test strip.

The color is appearing bit by bit.  But now it’s hard to
tell.  I look carefully.  “Two lines.” I whisper.

“How come I see only one?” His eyes are only a few inches
from the strip.

“You can’t see anything.” I smile.

Sure I see two lovely lines appear bit by bit, both are
pink, but one is darker than the other.

“See, our daughter is back.” I smile.

“Lord.” Colton grins.

Despite the tests, my morning sickness does not return.  This
worries me.  “Colton, what do you think?”

“I think you’re doing okay.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re eating so much.” He grins.

He’s so confident, but I’m not so sure.  “Colton, I’ve been
having these really weird dreams, where huge monsters are chasing me. What do
they mean?”

“Nothing, Stella. Absolutely nothing.  They’re only dreams,
right?”

“Maybe the baby isn’t well?”

“You think so?”

“I’m just wondering.” I lean back, closing my eyes.  Gosh,
not sleeping well gives me headache.  But still, I have to go to all my classes
and take the exams.

“Let’s go see a doctor.” Colton says.

Dr. Jennifer Ronson is nice and patient.  But the risks she discussed
with us really worry me.   She talked about the Down’s syndrome and other
genetic disorders.  I’m not sure if we have any genetic issues from either family.
“Colton?” I look at him.

“Not that I know of.” He shakes his head.  Then he adds,
“But I don’t know much about my family anyway.  I know almost nothing about my
mom.”

It’s the same with me and my dad’s side.  But there is no
way to find out at the moment.  “So, what should we do, Dr. Ronson?”

She gives me a professional smile.  “No worries for now,
Stella.  I will arrange special tests as needed.  We will start with the blood
test, okay?”

“Okay…” What else can I say?

The discussion about diet and exercise is fun.  But her mention
of smoking, drinking, and drug use worries me.  I’m not on drugs, nor do I
smoke.  But I do drink.  And I got drunk quite a few times.  “So, what do you
think, Dr. Ronson?” I ask.

What I didn’t tell her was that I actually tried pot a few
times.  It was the party thing.   Everyone was doing it.  I don’t want to blame
it on peer pressure that was pretty much it.  Now I’m sorry I ever touched it.

“How often do you drink?” She smiles at me.

“May be once or twice a week?  But we stopped since I got
pregnant, right?” I look at Colton.

Colton nods slightly.

“That’s okay.”

Thank God!
I close my eyes and pray.

“But the blood test will tell us more.”  Dr. Ronson adds.
Gosh,
I’m so worried.

We walk out of the clinic in silence.  “What do you think,
Colton?” Finally I murmur.

“I think that’s a shitty doctor.” He blurts.

“But she’s the professional.  We should trust her, right?”

“Yeah, risks this and that.  Remember she mentioned the HIV shit
as well.  What kind of doctor is that?”

“That’s her responsibility, right?”

“What kind of fucking responsibility?  To scare the shit out
of the patient?”  Colton rolls his eyes.

Waiting for the blood test result is torture.  Day by day,
I’m so worried.  Then after about a week, I begin to relax.
Heck, I can’t
change anything, right?  If anything goes wrong, so be it.  It’s the doctor’s
job to find out and fix it.

There is a lot going on. Final exams are coming.  Lots of
assignments are due, too.

To make things worse, there’s a guy and a girl in our group
who are constantly missing, making our group discussions and presentation
preparation nearly impossible.

One day, they do show up.  But soon, they disappear into
another room, and their moaning is so loud that we have to cancel our group
discussion.

I hate those jerks.

I bite my lips and scribble fast.  I want to write down
everything the professor says.  I hate Calculus.  For anyone not into math or
not being math-minded, this class can be a nightmare—given the abstract and
difficult concepts in mathematical theory.  It’s one of my course requirements,
and unfortunately my math skills don’t extend much beyond being able to type
into a
calculator.

My cellphone vibrates.  Heck, it sends a weird sensation to
my body.  My mind goes… dirty.  Oops, no good. I take out the cellphone to turn
it off.   But the caller ID shocks me: it’s a call from Dr. Ronson.

What the heck is going on?

The moment the class is over, I rush out and dial the
number.  The receptionist answers my call.  “Stella, thank so much for calling
back.” Her voice is very sweet.

“So…” I’m eager to know what’s going on.  Is the blood test
back?  Is there something wrong with it?  Else they wouldn’t call me, right?

“Let me pull out your file, Stella.” She pauses for a few moments
and then says, “Sorry for keeping you waiting, Stella.”

“No, don’t apologize.”
God, please let me know what’s
going on.

“Yup.  Your blood test result is back.  And the doctor wants
to see you. When’s your earliest available time?”

My heart drops, my belly tightening.  After a long while I
mumble, “Is-there-anything-wrong?”

“Sorry, Stella. I can’t tell you anything.  Dr. Ronson will
let you know.”

Shit!
Something must be
badly
wrong.
