“No kidding. Never did I dream we’d be this good together.”

“It was totally worth waiting for, especially with you,” she said.

Her words sent a shiver of delight through him.

Thank God he’d done right by her.

Epilogue

Their honeymoon had been short, the majority of it spent in bed. Sated and happy. His wife enjoyed every lesson, every position, every taste, touch, smell and sound as Trent educated Sabrina, introducing her to the art of sex.

When they returned to work, it was to a rousing applause from the staff. Sabrina had no problem settling into her job with a renewed gusto from her recent experiences. He was so proud of the way she made her columns her own, taking great pleasure in testing and trying every one of her ideas out on Trent who happily offered to be her personal guinea pig—forever.

Sabrina moved in with him and they excitedly began to search for a home.

January flew by.

When Sabrina moved out of Kat’s apartment, Angel moved in. Kat and Jill took to Angel the same way they’d done with Sabrina. Which worked out fine since Angel’s sister was getting married. Angel found a new home and friends she’d have for a lifetime.

Skin Deep’s
first issue had been a great success. Circulation was up by thirty-one percent in the first six weeks.

As Valentine’s Day neared Trent and Sabrina planned to celebrate the day and their success with the magazine over dinner. Sabrina told him she had a special surprise.

He made reservations at the fondue place and ordered dinner in advance, a special request. The chef had laughed and agreed to prepare all the aphrodisiacs she’d tried on him before.

The hostess escorted them to a private booth. After placing their drink orders Trent gave Sabrina her gift.

Sabrina squealed when she opened cruise tickets to the Bahamas then frowned.

“What’s the matter, honey? I was sure you’d love a nice cruise for a vacation. The end of summer will be perfect. By that time the magazine will be running smoothly and we’ll make sure your articles are done ahead of time. Kat said she’d sub for me, no problem.”

“Trent, I love the idea. Really I do. We’ll have to either take the cruise sooner or maybe wait until later next year. You’d better open my present.”

Trent removed the wrapping paper from Sabrina’s package to reveal a long black velvet box. He opened it expecting to find a watch only to find a pregnancy test with a big blue plus in the window. He smiled from his eyes to his ears. “Seriously?”

“I can’t believe you’re actually surprised. We’ve been going at it like rabbits since we got married.

“I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

Trent pulled out his cell phone and called Travis then his folks, as Sabrina called her folks and Kat, Jill, and Angel. Both families were ecstatic about the news.

Family.

After a long leisurely dinner, they called the travel agent and moved the cruise up to take advantage of what time they’d have alone before the baby came.

Sabrina and Trent found a house they loved, moved in, and spent the next several months decorating, shopping, and designing the nursery.

Doctor’s appointments, passports, issues of the magazine filled their days. Passion and love filled their nights.

The magazine was a major success.

The biggest surprise of all was how well Trent’s life fell into place. It was as if every problem between him and Travis suddenly vanished.

A wife he loved. A job that not only fulfilled him but one he was honestly proud of.

All that was left was the wait for the impending birth, and to watch as his family grew and thrive.

On October 2, Sabrina went into labor.

Step fourteen. Present him with a child. Check.

Deb Julienne

While some say truth is stranger than fiction, Deb Julienne’s experience runs more along the lines of slap-stick comedy. She believes when life tosses you lemons it’s best to turn it into Limoncello.

Baking, gardening, and writing help fill the leftover space of the day job.

As a teen of the 70’s, some of her most precious memories are enough to make her laugh out loud. She considers herself lucky to have had many friends and partners in crime, stretching the boundaries along the way. Life has been known to take U-turn at a moment’s notice dropping her into a compost heap.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, she now resides in the Tahoe National Forest Basin, her own bit of heaven on earth, with her husband of 33 years, with three sons and one daughter, and two very precocious grandkids.
