In the register of baptisms, however, we find two separate entries; on 6 August 1559, we have a mysterious entry recording the baptism of a ‘Richard Hathaway', with no father's name, and on 4 January 1562 a ‘Richardus filius Richard Hathaway alias Gardner'.
