"I thought you said you'd taken care of that asshole" she spat at him. "Thank fuck! Are you ok Angel?" She lit with that familiar dark ugly feeling "Am I ok? Are you fucking serious? That asshole has been watching me for who knows how long now and he just tried to kill my fucking brothers. Again, I thought you took care of that shit." Trace and Tex began to approach her and she put her hand up to stop them. "I did. His friends are dead, I was saving him for last and he got away. I've been trying to find him." She was fucking pissed and shooting at that guy had done nothing to calm her. "You've been trying. Well you can fucking forget trying because I will find him and finish this shit my fucking self." Cole and Tex both shouted at the same time "The fuck you will!" She gave Tex the finger. Cole continued "You will leave it to me. Now tell me where you are." She wasn't telling him shit "Cos you've done such a good fucking job so far." "Watch it Angel I've already had enough of dealing with your shit today" he growled at her in a way that would make most people's knees quake. She was far too pissed for that. "Yeah well you don't have to deal with it anymore this is now my problem so fuck off" she hung up on him. Her phone rang again immediately and she silenced it turning to find Tex, Trace, King and Reaper all staring at her from across the shop. "Why the fuck is the front of my shop getting shot up?" King asked through gritted teeth. She stayed silent. The guy had shot up the shop and the brothers were after him. It was now a club problem whether she liked it or not. She opened her mouth but Tex spoke before she could "A few weeks ago she was attacked by a bunch of guys in an alley in the city." The air instantly got chilly. "This guy was one of them." Both King and Reaper glared at her. If she'd been standing here before that night she would've done everything and anything to crawl her way out of this situation. But it wasn't before, it was after and so she squared off on both them rearing for a fight. Reaper raised one eyebrow at her then they both turned to Tex "Anything else you boys been hiding from us cos this shit seems to be turning into a bad habit of yours." Tex shook his head "She wouldn't tell us shit about it." King turned back to her "Talk now darling." She knew she'd be playing with fire if she refused, King would punish her and it would not be pretty. If she had to tell them she had to be careful what she said.
"These guys jumped me in the back alley of the Mint. There were four of them. I fought them off broke one guy's nose gave another a serious fucking headache but they overpowered me. I got knocked out during the scuffle so I'm not really sure what happened all I know is someone came to my rescue and those guys disappeared. Turns out three of them are dead and this guy is the only one left. Now he's pissed and he wants me dead." King wasn't satisfied with that "Who is he? You know anything about him?" She didn't want to get too specific bringing the MC to Cole's doorstep would not be good. "No I was too busy trying not to get raped to ask his name. All I know is he was a bouncer at the club there." Then the atmosphere got artic. "The guy who helped you?" That was an entirely different story. She hesitated. "I'm guessing he's the reason this guy's friends are dead right?" She nodded. "You gonna give us a name darlin'?" "Can't do it." King eyed her incredulously. "You sure about that?" "I don't want him involved with this anymore. He's done enough. The problem is mine I'll take care of it." He really didn't look happy, "No you won't. We protect what's ours and you my girl are a Soldier of Chaos through and through. We take care of this together." His tone and the stony look in his eyes told her there'd be no arguing that point. "This friend of yours anything we should know about?" She shook her head at him "Nothing that concerns the club." "I'm not talking about the club being concerned Darlin'. I'm talking about your family being concerned." The concern and love he had for her was written all over his face. King had loved her like she was his daughter. "No nothing to be concerned about just a good friend who thought they were doing the right thing by me and unfortunately cocked it up." He nodded his head at her. Tex's phone rang "Speak……….. Right bring it in." He closed the phone "They lost the guy." King let off a string of profanities. "Nikki said this guy worked at the club. Slick works that club maybe he'll know something about this guy" Trace offered. "You guys get hold of him see what you can find out and for fuck's sake Nikki answer that fucking phone."
She turned her attention to the incessant vibrating in her pocket knowing it would be Cole "I don't like being ignored Nikki. Now please tell me you aren't in the Soldiers of Chaos compound right now?" What? Now he knew where she was too. What the hell was going on? She walked outside out of ear shot of everyone and lowered her voice. She watched the street cautiously. "How the hell do you know that?" Cole cursed several times under his breath. "I'll take that as a yes. Why are you there?" What was she gonna say? No point in lying to him and she certainly didn't want him to think she was club ass. "Because they're my family." The swearing got louder "What do you mean family Nikki?" A movement on the opposite side of the road caught her eye. She focused on the black BMW. "Lenny didn't own a black BMW did he?" She began to wander in the direction of the car trying to look relaxed and distracted by her phone conversation as she passed the BMW. "No why?" Cole's tone was strained. She crossed the road further up from the Beamer behind the dark pickup. Nikki slid the pistol from her waist band as she rounded the pickup keeping it hidden slightly behind her. "Nothing just this car I noticed earlier I hadn't seen it around here before." She knocked on the window of the Beamer with the barrel of her pistol. "You haven't answered my question Angel. What did you mean by the Soldiers are family?" A familiar face began to appear as the window dropped lower. Roger.
Roger raised his hands slowly to show he was unarmed and his face was plastered with a sheepish grin. "How bout you answer me a question first? Was Roger following Lenny or following me?" A stream of profanities regarding Roger's skills or lack thereof followed her question. "Based on your reaction I assume it was me." He was having her followed. What the fuck? Nikki could feel her anger building. "Nikki!" Trace was calling out to her. Nikki quickly slid the gun back into her waistband before Trace noticed it. "What the hell are you doing?" If she didn't head back there now she'd draw some very unwanted attention Roger's way. "In my experience Angel it pays to keep an eye on what belongs to you." What belongs to him? An angry growl left Nikki and she stomped back towards the workshop. "What belongs to you?" "Yes now answer my question. How are the Soldiers your family?" "I grew up in the club. My dad's a member." Silence followed. "Wait, Nikki Jones as in Reaper Jones’s daughter." His voice had dropped low almost like he didn't want to say it out loud. Well screw him she was who she was didn't matter who she was related to "Yeah." "Why didn't you mention this before?" "You never fucking asked and we didn't really spend much time talking." Nikki did not have time for this bullshit. "Listen we can discuss this shit some other fucking time cos right now I have other shit to worry about. I've got you stalking me, some asshole trying to kill me, several bad ass bikers breathing down my fucking neck looking for answers I'm not sure I can give them and a serious urge to lay someone or something to waste. So can we move the fuck past the circumstances of my lineage and deal with the problem at hand. They wanna know about this guy and Trace is going to hit up Slick for info. So you need to tell me every damn thing you fucking know about him." She was breathing hard that ugly dark feeling inside her swelling to tidal wave proportions. She needed to get herself together and fast or she was gonna lose it.
"You need me to check that shit happening inside you right now Angel?" The question came out of left field. His tone was a soft warning. She didn't need to think about the answer she knew she needed it. That was not good in fact that was very bad. She'd known the guy two weeks and already her need for him was palpable. "Because right now I want to spank the shit of you for this bullshit behaviour. That mouth of yours would serve you better if you spent less time running it and more time using it to service my cock." Her body quaked with anticipation at the thought. "I will not leave this situation alone but I know that the MC won't either, so I'll share through Slick and I expect the same in return. Got it?" She forgot herself her mind still on servicing him with her mouth and she nodded her head. "Words Angel." "Yes Sir." He growled low and it hit her right in her sweet spot "And Angel you come to me and you do it soon I don't care what you have to do to get out from under the shit that's happening there. You don't I will come and find you and that won't be good for anyone, least of all you." He was right about that if she didn't get a hold of herself soon she was gonna do something dangerous and stupid and extreme. She looked back towards the group of men watching her closely and waiting. "Ok." She hung up and returned to them "Sorry a friend rang when all this shit went down and wanted to make sure I was ok." She lied. What else could she do? "If you guys are going to talk to Slick then I'm going to the Casino to ask around."
Trace immediately balked at the idea "No Way Nikki. You're already in enough danger and you're gonna go hanging around his stomping grounds? I don't fucking think so." She shook her head at him "He's hardly gonna attack me in a public place full of camera's, security guards and people who can identify him. You guys go sniffing around in the city that brings trouble. I go I don't look outta place there." They stayed silent except Trace "How are we supposed to protect you there? I don't like it." He looked to the others for help but got none. Tex sighed and scrubbed his hand through his hair "Let her do it I'll talk to Slick get him to keep an eye out for her" he turned to Nikki then "but I'm telling you now he escorts you there and he escorts you home. You've only got as long as he's there and if he tells you to leave or back off you do as he says." It was Trace's turn to shake his head he kicked some stuff and walked out into the forecourt swearing. She wasn't gonna stick around long enough for anyone to change their mind "Make the call I'm going to get ready." She left the workshop before either of them could ask who she was on the phone to earlier. Trace stood across the forecourt watching her walk towards the clubhouse. She glanced his way and the anguish in his face made her wish she hadn't looked. Tex crossed over to him and Trace said something to him she couldn't hear. Then two pairs of concerned eyes were on her. Her life was turning into a regular old shit storm and she was dragging them down with her. If she could cut them loose and be sure they'd leave her be she would but they'd follow her to the ends of the earth and everyone knew it. She turned away from them the sound of bikes roaring back into the compound the soundtrack to her exit.
"There's something more going on with her than we know." Tex followed Trace's line of sight clocking Nikki as she moved across the forecourt towards the clubhouse. She looked over at them her face nearly unreadable. If it wasn't for the slight downward twitch of her mouth Tex would've thought she wasn't affected by this whole thing "Her poker face is very good but still it's not good enough." He turned back to Trace who was nodding in agreement. "She's hiding something, something serious." Tex frowned at Trace. She'd never hidden anything from them before, mostly because she never had a reason to and also because they could read her like no one else could. He knew Trace was right but what was she hiding? "Any ideas?" Trace shook his head "I have one but I don't think it's the whole picture. She's been pretty closed off since Sheila but this is something more." Fucking Sheila. Everything came back to that stupid bitch. She was a junkie whore who took pleasure in destroying herself and when that wasn't enough dragging her poor daughter down with her. Tex hated her but still the memory of her in that room made him feel sick. And what Nikki did to that traitorous Crow bastard was a lot less than what he would've done had he laid his hands on the guy. It was a fucked up situation all round but they'd been in fucked up spots before there was more to it than that. "I think she's seeing someone, someone she doesn't want us knowing about." Tex's eyes widened at that little thought "Seeing? You mean fucking?" Trace shook his head "I mean I think there's more to it than just plain old fucking. And this friend of hers why does she not want us to know who it is? Whatever it is if she's hiding it, it's gotta be bad." Tex couldn't agree more with that statement. Tex hadn't forgotten about the rich guy Slick had supposedly seen her with the one he'd warned them about "Think it was that guy Slick saw her with the other night?" "Only one way to find out" Trace gestured to the phone in Tex's hand. He was right Tex had a phone call to make.
"Slick. It's Tex. I got a favour to ask. It's Nikki." "Sure man. What do you need?" Mention that girl's name to Slick and he'd do just about anything. Tex recalled the amount of times they'd had to kick his ass because she talked him into shit she wasn't supposed to be doing. "You know she got attacked by some guy and his mates in the city the other week?" Tex continued after Slick's affirmative response "She told us a friend of hers took care of the situation and it would appear he cocked it up. The guy's friends are apparently dead but he is alive and kicking and coming after Nikki to finish the job." Several expletives fired down the phone at him. "He was a bouncer at the Mint. You work that club right?" "Yeah. Lenny. I saw her talking to him that night. Shit. I always thought there was something off about the guy." Tex's temper rose a little. He saw her and he said nothing. He shook his head. This wasn't Slick's fault. "Know much about him?" "Other than his name and the off vibe I got no." "Right. Nikki's going in to the club to get whatever info she can find on the guy and I want you to escort her in and keep an eye on her. Think you can handle that?" Tex hoped he could because if anything happened to that girl on Slicks watch he'd kill him. "Can do. I'll be at the clubhouse in thirty." He had another question for him "One more thing this rich guy you saw Nikki with the other night, any idea what's going on there?" "I don't know man. Looked to me like it was a serious case of fuck and run but you'll have to ask Nikki about that. All I know is that I got a seriously bad vibe from the dude." And if his vibe about Lenny was right then his vibe about this guy could be too. "Thanks. I'll see you in a thirty."
