As he yelled, “Shit!” the gag kinda came out of his mouth. Finally the boy sounded properly scared.

Managed to catch him before he could tumble too far over and do damage to himself. You know, since he couldn’t use his arms to stop him none. ‘Course that got Kabe pretty much where I wanted him: across my knees, his head hanging down towards the floor and his butt bared. I reached around and used the fingers of my free hand to push his little bit of butt-floss back in his mouth. His dick, getting harder by the second and tip already a little damp, rubbed against my leg.

I shifted just a bit, opened up my knees a hair and caught his dick between my thighs. Then I squeezed. I held onto him with the lead of the belt wadded in my left fist, right up next to his wrists. I reached down and stroked that fine brown skin. The hard plain of his back was all warm. The muscle of his glutes felt so good as I ran my hand over his cheeks. Took my time just feeling around, slipping the side of my hand down his crack, fondling his fuzzy nuts. I kept his prick pinned between my legs.

Once I had him kinda trembling, I brought my hand up. Kabe’d turned his head just enough so’s he could watch me some. He could probably just see my hand from where he was at. Just held my hand raised. Built the tension in him wondering when that blow was gonna fall. Built the tension in me wondering how his body would twist when I hit him.

I grinned. “You’re gonna get it now,” I whispered, more to myself than anything. Smacked him hard, right on his upturned ass. He jerked, his dick kinda sliding between my legs. “Yeah, you know what’s coming.” Licked my lips and swallowed, letting time drag by for a bit. Moments like this made me think on the first time—not the first time we got it on, mind you. No, the first time he and I got all rough and tumble like this. I’d gotten all overtaken by the feeling and let go. Kabe’d rode that wild slide with me…told me he liked it. Since then this, beating on his butt, came to be one of our favorite things.

I smacked him again. The blows stung enough on my own hand, I could imagine how they felt on his ass. Just to tease, I brought my hand down fast, but stopped short. I tapped his upturned cheek all light like. Kabe jerked like he’d be shot…guess with expecting hard and getting gentle. Already his skin burned. Could see my handprints, all red, glowing on his skin. I ran my hand over the curve of his butt, savored the heat coming off it. I squeezed, hard, digging my fingers into his muscles. Kabe gave off a muffled groan around the shorts stuffed in his mouth.

Then I took a deep breath and started whaling on his butt. I rode the charge of it. Felt the power of my hand beating his bare cheeks flare up the muscles of my arm. The sound of the slap of skin against skin ran little shivers down my spine. My heart almost forgot to beat as I watched him stiffen each time a blow landed just so. With him squirming, he kept rubbing up against my hard dick through my shorts. His own prick was still wedged between my legs. I’m sure that wriggling worked his excitement up pretty good.

Kabe’s ass glowed all red. I ran my hand over the left cheek. The heat soaked into my palm and set my blood all on fire. All the while he’s humping off between my thighs, his toes scrabbling for purchase on the wood floor. I loved feeling that long, fine dick of his sliding there with both of us all sweaty. It sent bubbles shooting up through my stomach and tightened my nuts up. Brought my hand down on his ass again and again. My own palm stung, I’d been hitting him so long and so hard.

Kabe moaned through the gag. Then he shuddered. He twisted. He squirmed. Then it happened. My thighs got all wet with his spunk.

Didn’t even give him a moment to catch his breath. I yanked him up by his arms. His dick slipped from between my legs as he dropped to his knees almost right in front of me. I spread my legs, reached down and tugged my prick free from my shorts. “Spit out that gag.” Stroked myself some while I watched Kabe try and spit the fabric out of his dry mouth. Once the soggy fabric fell to floor, I reached over and grabbed his hair. “You get to work,” I growled as I pulled him over. He shuffled along on his knees. “Come on, boy, suck it.” Pushed his head down and made him take me all in. I held him there. Heard his breath huff through his nose and I felt his tongue push against my dick as he fought not to gag.

I let him come back up some. Just enough so he could suck down a quick gulp of air and then I shoved him down on my aching prick again. We played that for a while, letting him know who held the power over his right to breathe. I mean, I weren’t out to suffocate Kabe, but I let him choke a bit. Each time I shoved him down or brought him back up, his mouth took a shred of my control with it.

Finally, I couldn’t take it no more. “Come on, boy,” I panted out, “get me off.” Didn’t take my hand off his head, but I didn’t apply no pressure neither.

Kabe rocked back a bit. My dick came clean outta his mouth. Kabe swallowed. He licked his lips then dove down and swallowed my prick. Lord, that boy could suck chrome off a bumper. His warm mouth made my insides go all jumpy. Not like I weren’t charged up already from smacking his rear. I’d been sprouting wood since I laid the first blow down. Everything went all tight. My heart hammered inside my chest. For a moment it felt like my whole body would explode.

I grabbed Kabe by the hair and yanked him back off me. I jacked myself. Took me all of about two strokes before my whole sense of self collapsed into my dick. White spunk shot out of my prick and caught him on his cheek and chin and mouth. It ran down over his brown throat. Lord, few sights looked as fine as Kabe did right then. I bent over and kissed him. Tasted myself on his lips. Then I mumbled, “Yep, I worked so hard for that.”

Chapter 6

And that’s when my phone began to ring…my cell phone. Maybe, one of these years, I’d get around to assigning ringtones to folks, but I hadn’t yet. That meant I had to check. ‘Cause if it was work, then I had to take it. No two ways about that.

I untangled myself from Kabe and pulled back. Raising one finger to keep him at bay, I said, “Hold that thought…” as I fished the cell outta my pants. When you’re law enforcement/EMT/Search and Rescue you always check who’s calling—even if you’re in the middle of full on pounding—’cause who knows if it’s the next call out.

Looking at the display, I recognized the number right off: Devon Blackthorn, Dev for those of us that know him. His last name, well, yeah, it were something that came on down through his great-granddad from Ireland and it never quite fit Dev’s otherwise Paiute heritage. And even though I knew him well enough to know that…I hadn’t spoken to him in close to six or eight months. I hit the green button and put the phone up to my ear. “Joe’s Pizza.”

“Dude,” Devon had a warm, soft chuckle that matched his warm soft smile, “you ever going to get a better joke.” I bet he smiled right then…’course I ain’t never known Dev to be without a big old grin slapped across his face.

“No.” About that time Kabe settled into his hip-cock and glare routine. Kinda didn’t work so well when he was sitting on the floor with his hands tied behind his back. I ignored his attitude while I jammed the phone between my shoulder and ear. “What’s up?” Knelt down behind Kabe and loosened the belt up enough he could get his hands free.

“Coming your way.” Three, four months ago, the thought of Dev being in my neck of the woods would have froze my gut solid. “Don’t worry,” he reassured, since last time we’d talked I hadn’t been, well, out about myself, “I just won a package to ski Brian Head and figured I could do with getting out of town.” Dev, see, he used to be my hunting buddy…you know, for stalking the two legged pretty boys infesting Vegas. “You going to be around?”

“Could be.” Switched the phone over to my other ear as I stood. “When you gonna be here?”

As he scrambled up off the floor, Kabe cut in, “Who’s going to be here?”

I shushed him with a glare and an outstretched palm. With my other hand covering the base of the phone, I hissed, “An old friend,” and left it at that.

I missed the first few words. “—before Christmas. I’ll e-mail you the finer details.” Then his voice got all wicked. “You and me, we’ll hang out, have fun, you can hook me up with the locals.” That was Dev, trying to dig where he thought it’d get the most reaction. “Just like old times.”

“Dev, you’re a dog.”

Kabe threw me a sour look as he fished his phone/music player/do-everything-but-laundry device outta his jeans on the floor. I didn’t rise to his bait. Instead, as he plugged himself in, I used his shorts to wipe myself off before I jerked up my briefs. Then I wrangled a pair of my jeans out of the hamper.

I jammed the phone between my shoulder and ear again. “Yeah, we can grab a bite and chew the fat.” Then I shoved my legs into my pants. Otherwise, I still had on my undershirt and socks. For wandering around the house it’d serve.

“Great!” Dev sounded all pleased. Cain’t say that I wasn’t kinda as well. I mean, I don’t got a lot of friends, at least ones that I didn’t have to hide any part of my life from. He and I, we forged a lot of trust over the five or so years we’d known each other. “So what’s up with you these days? Haven’t gotten an IM or call in ages.”

Not like we chatted it up a bunch. Neither of us had that bent. Still, if I was surfing the net and saw Dev online, I might say hi.

“I’m okay.” Hoped I sounded more confident than I felt with that statement. “Had a lot to deal with recently.”

“You’re hiding shit.” I should have guessed Dev would hear it in my voice, man had been a deputy up in Northern California longer than I’d been one in Utah. “Don’t hide shit, Joe. Tell me.”

“Things.” I hedged.

“The lie detector is pinging…what things?”

“Hold on.” I put Dev off for a moment. Then I hollered, “Hey, Kabe,” loud enough that he pulled the ear buds out. He’d flopped himself down on the bed. “I’m going to head downstairs and pull something out for dinner.” Figured if I let him know this was just a speed bump in our evening, he wouldn’t be grumpy all night. “Or we could go out if you wanted.”

“Kabe, dinner, downstairs…” Dev teased in my ear. “What have you been up to?”

“Hold on…” That I said into the phone. Then I turned my attention back towards Kabe. “Got any requests…” Kabe fed me attitude again and added a shrug in response. Not like we spooned all the time, but I guess he must have been in the mood for a bit more than just getting off. “Look, I haven’t jawed with Dev in like six months. Give me a minute.”

“Six months and two hours wouldn’t have killed you.” Kabe hissed as he messed with the headphones before plugging himself back in.

I didn’t right want to deal with it just then so I just let him sulk a bit. Grabbed my short boots and headed down the stairs with the phone still propped against my ear.

“You have a guy.” Dev sounded amazed. ‘Course he would have, the last time I’d talked with him I hadn’t been out and I hadn’t ever figured on being out. He only gave me a heart beat before hitting me with, “Is it love or only sex?”

Between Kabe’s attitude and Dev’s teasing, I was going to have to put the hurt on someone. “If it was anyone but you, Dev,” I grumbled, “I’d tell them to take a long walk off a short pier.”

He laughed, “So, does this guy qualify as part of the lots to deal with?”

“Some.” I took a deep breath and then blew it out. “He and I, we sorta got caught at it…” I set the boots on the floor and then toed into them, but left them untied.

“Mother—” Dev didn’t finish the curse, “that sucks. That would qualify as a shit load to deal with.”

I ran my hand across the buzz of my hair, stepped a few feet over and dropped into my recliner. “It ain’t the half of it.” Picked at the worn old fabric as I figured how to put it in words. “Now I got an administrative hearing coming on up and I’m damn near sick as a dog with worry about it and I cain’t tell no one.”

Dev corrected. “You’re telling me and I ain’t no one.”

“‘Cause you won’t judge me and you don’t expect nothing from me.” I reminded him.

“Sure I do. I expect you to buy me dinner.” He and I had a similar take on humor.

Probably why, outta all the guys I’d met over the years, Devon and I actually became friends. That and how hard it was to be a cop and be gay. Not just my own problems up here, but I remembered times in Vegas where I’d hooked up with someone fun. They’d offer to take me to some party to
party
. Not three steps in the door and I’d have to turn around and leave because of all the drugs around. And I didn’t think for a minute that everyone who’s gay is into that
scene
, but the ways I was meeting most guys led down that path.

Sitting still bugged me, so I hauled myself up. I knew Kabe was upstairs, plugged into his music…but I didn’t want my worry to get to him. Grabbing my jacket off the peg, I stepped out the front door and onto the porch. The cold air bit my skin. Felt good. Like I needed that.

And I know I just dropped off the end of the conversation while I struggled into my coat. Dev just kinda waited for me to get to it. But that’s how we were.

Dev and I, we could jump from joking about having to bail on some hot piece of tail for all the wrong reasons, to laughing over rolling up on some drunk spouting off about the last coming, to getting all somber over some kid one of us had to scrape off the pavement. And, well, we had a connection, but it just didn’t go anywhere beyond that. Not like we hadn’t messed around…like scratching an itch, it felt good, just not something that made us want to be together that way.

I took another deep lungful of air. Then one more. “Dev.”

“Yeah, Joe?”

“I screwed up.” Just saying that darn near ripped my lungs out. “Big time.” Don’t know how long I was out there. Long enough that I sketched out the basics for Dev…and I didn’t need to fill in a lot of blanks. Dev knew me. Dev knew what I did. His mind could fill in the holes well enough. From why I needed Kabe so much, to why I’d never let that boy worry about nothing he didn’t cause. Dev, Dev would understand why I did what I did.

I probably left a lot of it out. Still, by the time I finished Dev just kept saying, “shit,” and “whoa,” over and over. Realized while I’d been out there, the sun had dropped below the ridge of the mountains. At one point, Kabe rapped on the big front window from the inside—shrugging like he wanted to know what I was at. I shot him a glare and he rolled his eyes in disgust, before moving off into the house. Frankly, I couldn’t remember the last person I’d jawed that long with…and me just all talking. Finally, Dev stopped repeating himself and said, “Dude, now’s about the time I’d take up drinking.”
