“I should warn you that I’m very picky when it comes to my coffee. I just don’t drink it any kind of way. It has to have the right amount of cream and sugar in it to make it wonderful.” She blew on it a couple of times, wanting to cool it down before she took a sip.

“I think my cup will be a winner when it comes to your coffee, Ms. Williams,” he bragged and then gave her a quick kiss on the mouth.

Rachelle arched an eyebrow before she took a sip and then looked at Cash with shocked eyes. It tasted perfect! How in the world did he know that she liked a dash of cream and two sugars in her coffee? Usually most people fixed it too strong for her, but this was delicious.

“It’s just the way I like it,” she replied still surprised by the fact as she placed the cup back on the tray.

“I told you not to be surprised.” Cash grinned at her. “I know what my woman likes. Now dig into your food. I don’t want it to get cold.”

Rachelle picked up a forkful of eggs, shoving them into her mouth. She moaned at the hint of garlic that she tasted on them.

Next, she cut through a slice of French toast and took a good bite. She almost died from pleasure when it practically melted on her tongue. Lord, if Cash kept cooking for her like this she was going to be in a whole lot of trouble. This guy really knew his way around a well-stocked kitchen.

“Where did you learn how to cook like this?” she asked, before eating another bite of French toast. She couldn’t get enough of it.

“My mother taught me and my brother at a young age how to cook. She was training to be a personal chef when she got pregnant with me and had to quit culinary school. She was planning to go back after I got older, but she had my brother and got married, so it never happened.

“So, she took all of her training and passed it on to us. Which is a good thing, because the way my brother has a new girlfriend every week he needs to know his way around a kitchen to impress them.”

“I like hearing about your brother, but we need to talk about us.” Reaching for her coffee, she took another sip. “Where are we going to go from here? Should we try doing the long distance thing and see how well it works out for us?”

The unwelcome tension stretched even tighter between them as Cash tried to get his words together. He knew where he wanted his relationship to go with Rachelle, but he was nervous she wasn’t on the same page as him.

What if he moved too fast and ended up losing her after he just got her in his arms?

He decided to jump in with both feet and be honest with Rachelle. He couldn’t hold back any longer about how he truly felt. The magazine and note he sent to her was the first step at getting her here with him. Now, he had to find the right words to keep her at his side.

“No, I don’t want to do the long distance thing with you,” he admitted, moving the tray off her lap and placing it on the floor.

“I hated when you were away from me that month. All I could think about was you. I wondered if you were with another man. I know I told you in my note, but I want to look into your eyes when I tell you the words.”

“Rachelle, this is going to sound strange. I hope it doesn’t scare you away, but I have fallen in love with you. As crazy as it might seem, it is the truth and I want you to be in my life. Sure, some couples go through stormy weather to find their way back to each other, but we didn’t have to experience those trials and tribulations. It doesn’t mean my love for you is any less real.”

“Cash, I….”

“No, please let me finish,” Cash insisted, cutting her off. “I can wait for however long you want me to, but understand that I want to be with you. I want to be around to see you make a success of your business. That is why I wrote the review for you. I know people listen to what I have to say about anything and everything. Why shouldn’t I brag about the woman I care about?”

“You’re falling in love with me?” Rachelle questioned. “Are you sure?” Reaching out her hand, she traced his bottom lip with her index finger.

Grabbing her hand, he turned it over, placing a kiss in the palm. “Honey, I’ve never been more positive about of anything in my life, but like I told you earlier, you don’t have to tell me you feel the same way yet. All I want to hear from you is that you could start to feel something for me. Do you think you could do that?”

Rachelle’s grin was so big that it covered her entire face. “Cash, I don’t need any more time to make my decision. While I was away from you all I did was think about us until my head hurt. I had come to my decision way before you sent me the article. But, I couldn’t force myself to take the first step to come to you since I was the one who shoved you away. I love you, too,” she told him.

“My sisters told me to live my life without fear and that is what I’m going to do with you. I don’t want to be anywhere without you again. We can find a way to make this work for us. It might be hard, but we can do it. I know we can if we are willing to work together.”

“Oh, baby. You don’t know how good that makes me feel.” Cash said, pulling her into his arms. “How do you think we should celebrate our first morning as a couple?”

“I think we should seal it with a kiss?” she suggested.

“No, I don’t want to do that.”

“Alright, do you want to have a repeat of last night? I don’t have a problem with that at all.”

“Sweetheart, you really know how to hit a man where it hurts, but my answer will still have to be no.”

“Cash, you have turned down a kiss from me along with spending the day making love. I’m beginning to think your words of love aren’t true because I can’t think of anything else that you would want to do with me.”

Cash cupped Rachelle’s face in his hands and then planted a soft kiss by the corner of her mouth. “Baby, I want to do the thing that made me realize I was falling in love with you.”

“What thing was that?” Rachelle asked.

“I want to make S’Mores in front of my fireplace. You looked so beautiful doing it the first night we were together.”

“Keep talking like that and you might get something extra to go with those S’Mores,” she promised in a low voice, leaning closer to him.

“Can I have a hint with the something extra might be?”

Wrapping her arms around his neck, Rachelle laid back on the bed, pulling his body with her. “Give me the kiss I asked for and I might give you a hint.”

“Will it be something good?”

“Yes, it will.”

“I guess I better kiss you then,” he whispered against her lips. “Because I love surprises and I don’t want to miss out getting one from you.’

Cash kissed Rachelle. He couldn’t keep the love he felt for her from spreading throughout his body. He was going to marry her. She just didn’t know it. All he had to do was wait for the perfect time to give her the ring.

Before Rachelle came into his world he was just going through the motions, living each day as it came. It wasn’t until he looked into the beautiful eyes of the woman beneath him that he knew he could be a better man.
