Simon tightened his mouth, reining in his rage. Getting angry at Sholto would not help anything. “If you want to kill me, then kill me.” They had been dancing around each other for too long. A showdown was inevitable.

“You know I can’t do that, Mayhew. You’re protected.”

“Not always.”

“I can feel the angels at my back willing me to take a swipe at you so they can retaliate. It must piss the ethereal off that they can only react after the fact.”

That was true. Angels did walk amongst them. Every human being had at least one good angel that walked beside them, silent and unobserved, who tried to help, guide and when all else failed, bring them peace when darkness descended. Simon had a battalion of angels surrounding him. At least that’s what Socia described them as and she was not prone to exaggeration. “Go back to where you belong, Sholto.”

Simon watched Sholto turn his back to him and walk off. That move alone indicated he was too cocky to fear anyone. Simon hoped would be Sholto’s downfall. He reached into his trouser pocket for his cell phone.

“Socia.”

“They are fine.”

He knew the woman was not prone to anything but the facts. She said and did what she had to and no more. While Simon was interested in knowing her story, he was also aware she would never tell him. “Why did you come to the wedding?”

“I had my reasons.”

Simon knew she would never tell him what they were. “Thank you, Socia.”

“I do what I must.”

The call ended on those words. Simon blew out a long breath and loosened the tie around his neck. It was time to find Mary and explain some of his life to her.

Chapter Eight

“I need to show you something.” Simon tugged on Mary’s hand and pulled her along to stand outside the half door at the Bungalow post office.

“It’s a door.” She looked from Simon to the door. There was an intense look in his eyes the made her wonder at his interest at something as commonplace as a door.

“Look closely at it.”

Mary focused on the door. Red, scarred and probably made of pine. There was nothing she could see to be excited at. “Okay, it’s half a door with a battered handle.”

“Look at the other door.” Simon drew her attention to the other one.

“It’s full sized. Huh…” That was odd. She had been to the Bungalow post office hundreds of times and passed by these doors without thinking about them before. But Simon was right. The disparity was there and obvious if you stopped to think about it. Mary shrugged. “Well, it is Cairns and weird stuff happens here.” Her gaze went back to Simon. Tall, luscious, edible. Thoughts of his naked body on and in hers made her shift her stance, pressing her legs together as if trying to re-capture the feeling from last night. “You dragged me out of bed for this?”

After the wedding they had gone back to her house and filled the bathtub she had with hot soapy water and climbed inside it together, water sloshing over the sides. Neither had worried about the mess. The need to be naked together was all they cared about. She had sunk down over his dick, impaling herself on the rigid mass until he filled her. There they had sat, quietly talking about everything and anything, neither moving. It was the peace and the closeness they both craved.

When Simon finally could stand no more he had ordered her out of the tub. Mary had stood up leisurely, allowing the water to slide down her body, her pussy level with his face.

“You like”? Her knees were shaking with need. Mary wondered if he could see that. Lifting off from his dick had been the last thing she wanted to do. She had only done so knowing that once more, very soon, Simon would be on and in her.

“I love. Now out of the tub and get on your hands and knees.”

Mary shivered as she thought about what his words conveyed. Would he take her from behind as she had always craved a man to do? “And if I don’t?”

Simon pulled on his cock. “I will jerk off right here and now instead of fucking you senseless.” He tugged at the flesh.

Mary scrambled out of the bathtub, her feet sliding as she rushed. It would be such a waste to let all that hot, stiff dick be wasted in his own hands. She dropped to hers knees and waited.

“Don’t turn around.” Simon got out of the tub.

“You’re not—”

“Playing with myself?” He chuckled at that. “No, I plan to shove my dick in your ass, lovely Mary.”

She trembled. It was her darkest fantasy coming to life. Mary had always wanted a man to so that but so far none had been accomplished enough to try.

“Simon?”

He grabbed a bottle of lotion and came to stand behind her. “Yes?”

Mary could hear him flip the lid and squirt out the lotion. “How did you know?”

“What?” He stroked the cream along his shaft. “That you wanted to try everything?” Simon dropped down behind her, his body covering hers.

“Yes.” The feel of his wet, soapy flesh on hers made Mary close her eyes and sigh.

“Because you’re mine.”

She jumped as he slid the finger of one hand inside her anus. The other hand moved around to her clit. “Oh…”

“But wait, there’s more,” he murmured, a second finger joining the first as they thrust back and forward in time with the fingers that toyed with her clit.

Mary closed her eyes and gave into the feeling. It was raw and primal and in some ways wrong. Yet that’s what made it feel so right. When he removed his fingers she whimpered. “Don’t stop.”

“I’m only just starting, lovely.” The head of his dick pushed at the entrance to her ass. “Relax,” he said stroking her back as inch by inch filled her. Once he was fully inside, Simon stopped. “How do you feel?”

The pressure of his dick in her ass was intense. She felt full to the brim. “I feel hot and so needy. If you do not fuck me right now I will scream.” Mary wanted to feel the push and pull of Simon as he took her. She was pleased when his fingers went back to her clit. She sighed as he rubbed the nub.

“I think you like me.”

“I think—actually, I know you need to move, mister.” And he did. Deep, long strokes that had Mary dropping her head to the floor as she pushed her ass back for more.

“May I go faster?”

“You can do whatever you want with me.”

Simon needed no more urging, he pulled out almost to the tip and then pushed back inside her ass fast and deep. He did this several times before he ramped up the pace of his thrust.

Mary was breathless as she tried to keep up. She was half kneeling under her own power and half being held up by the man behind her. All she could hear was the sound of her panting and the groans of satisfaction from Simon as his balls slapped against her ass.

“Oh, hell,” Simon muttered as he tried to pull out.

Mary knew what he was trying to do. “No, come inside me.”

“But Mary—”

“I want you to,” she told him. “I need you too”

“I love you, Mary.”

“I love you back. Now fuck me, please.” When he came, a hot spurt of cum shot up inside her. It felt weird but good.

“Oh, Mary,” he growled, kissing her shoulders.

“I so want to do that again.” The weight of Simon collapsed on the top of her felt right. She was his and they both know it. “Don’t get up.”

“I’m too heavy.”

“You’re perfect.”

They lay there like that for a while, neither mentioning the declarations of love they had made because neither wanted to take them back.

Simon smiled. He liked that Mary enjoyed sex and could be turned on by a look from him. He’d never felt the need to prove his manliness to anyone but this woman made him feel strength he never knew he possessed and the need to prove himself to her was important. “We’ve got our whole lives to spend in bed. This is not just a momentary fling and fuck with us Mary. This is forever.” The blush she gave in response made his heart beat a little faster with love for her. On one hand she was a strong tigress of a woman and on the other she was sweet and shy.
And all mine.

That she admitted she loved him? Unforgettable.

“You—I—stuff like this doesn’t happen to me.”

“That was because you were waiting for me to come along. Together we’re going to do lots of stuff.”

“Socia mentioned destiny.”

“Socia is a smart lady.”

“She’s a sad lady,” added Mary.

“Yes.” Simon wasn’t surprised Mary felt that. Kindred souls understood each other even in a fleeting moment. “Socia is also right. Destiny is upon us.”

“In the shape of a half door at the post office?”

Simon looked into Mary’s eyes. She was smart and open to anything. It was time to tell her about what he did. “Do you remember when you first met Swerve he talked about saving the world from evil forces?”

“Yes, that was an unforgettable moment.”

“Would you believe me if I told you this half door is a time portal and I am honor bound to destroy it to save the world?

Mary opened her mouth and then shut it. She looked from him to the door and back again. “I was going to say you’re out of your mind but then a man with a fire ball turning up at my sister’s wedding indicated to me that my life had taken a supernatural turn.”

“Yes, I hope for the better after we destroy Sholto and the portal.”

“We?”

“I have friends who help me in this work.”

“Right.” Mary thought about that for a moment. “And this is a time portal that evil can come through?”

“Yes. Time lords use it.” Simon liked that Mary was thinking this out and not dismissing it as if he was joking.

“Like to
Dr Who
?”

“Sort of. Time lords are a menace.”

“I like
Dr Who
.”

“He’s not a real time lord.”

“He uses a tardis anyway.”

Simon laughed. “You’re cute. Now focus.” He needed her input and insight. So far neither he nor his colleagues had come up with a solution and sometimes the most obvious answers came from people without an agenda.

“Focus on the door?”

“Yes.”

Mary blew out a breath and analyzed the door. “Okay, so time lords wander in and out of it causing problems.”

“Correct.”

“And you—”

“I, along with others, stop them.”

“You’re a superhero?”

Simon laughed at that. “I’m just a man.”

Mary’s gaze returned to his. “You’re more than that.”

“Am I?” Such simple words from Mary made Simon feel like he was more.

“Yes.”

He reached out and clasped her hand in his. “We
should
have stayed in bed.”

Visions of loving Mary made his cock jump with need.

“Or at least on the floor.”

He smiled. “That was good.”

“It was great. But now
you
should focus.”

He cleared his throat and adjusted his stance to relieve some of the pressure in her trousers. Simon still held her hand. If he could not have the whole woman at that moment then a touch would keep him sated until he could. “Time lords care for no one but themselves.”

“Sort of like my mother.”

“Sort of, except instead of assuring husbands for her daughters, time lords interfere in and ruin worlds in order to seek riches and power.”

“Then they have to be stopped.”

Not many people would have taken his words as calmly as Mary did. She didn’t question his sanity or choose to walk away from what he was saying. She cared enough to listen. “Yes, that’s what we do.”

Mary nodded. “So, you’re out to save the world from evil. What can I do to help?”

That was more than Simon could have asked for. He pulled her into his arms and held her close. “That you don’t think I’m mad and that you understand me is everything.”

“I never said I didn’t think you were mad. I just think so much I can’t explain has happened to me since meeting you so it’s easier to go along with it than fight it.”

Simon kissed her lips, savoring the taste of her. He loved how she trembled against him in reaction. “I wonder if you know how much I need you, Mary.”

She lifted her gaze to his. “Me? I’m hardly powerful enough to do what you do.

You save people.”

“But I’m stronger with you.”

The look of need in his eyes and the knowledge that it was for her made Mary feel like she was going to cry. That he declared he loved her made her feel like shouting out loud with happiness. But neither emotion was applicable at that moment. “So what do we do? Go through the door and kick time lord ass?” She could do that. There was no way she wanted aliens screwing up Cairns.

Backpackers and the City Council did enough of that.

“We have to blow the door up.”

“Here?” Mary was surprised at his solution. She looked around her. There were people everywhere. “Even in Cairns, the land of banana time and casual living, people are going to notice that. Flying debris has a way of landing on people.”

“Yes, that’s our problem.”

“Would it take much for one door to explode?” It was a half door anyway.

“Yes because there are the forces of many worlds behind it.”

Right. Evil forces behind the door. Who knew there was so much going on in Cairns? “Then seal it.”

“That’s not effective in the long run. Seals break and can be tampered with.”

Mary pulled from his arms and started to walk around the door. She was a problem solver by nature. She moved in and touched the wood. It was cold. That wasn’t something to be expected in the tropics. She wondered who or what lurked behind waiting their chance to come through. Mary shook her head as she thought of the possibilities.

“What?”

“Life was so normal before I met you.” Boring, but normal.

Simon moved in and covered the hand that was on the door. “Do you regret us meeting?”

Mary turned her head, dazzled once more by Simon’s beautiful green eyes. “No and you know that.”

“I really do think you like me.”

I really know I love you
. “You’re okay.” He chuckled at her words. “Back to the door conundrum.” It looked like something that a couple of good kicks could demolish but then that would probably cause another problem. Her gaze ventured upwards to look at the supports holding the doors up. They in turn were connected to the roof that formed a veranda over the whole structure. “You could detach the whole thing, take it away and then blow it up somewhere no one will notice.”
