Dark Angels MC: Chasing Love

Lily Winters gripped the steering wheel of her old Toyota Camry hatchback and tried to calm her labored, panicked breathing. She was attempting to drive through the town of Amber and make it into the next city in order to get to her sister’s house and get to safety. But the way that her car was sputtering and stalling, it did not appear as if she was going to make it. She had driven the broken down vehicle from New York all the way out west, and was actually surprised that she had even made it that far. But of course now that she was almost at her destination, the car was beginning to die.

Lily’s eyes darted out of each of her windows as darkness began to settle on the deserted streets. She pulled out her cell phone in hopes that her battery had not died just yet. The phone was at two percent, so it was well on its way to fading to black. She didn’t know who she could call anyway, because her sister did not have a car of her own to come and pick her up in, let alone any money that she could lend to her. The last thing that she wanted to do was contact the authorities and let them know that she was in distress in an attempt to get some vehicular assistance. That would only alert them to her whereabouts, and then it would only be a matter of time before word got back to the authorities in New York.

The engine on Lily’s car let out one last long, wheezing cough before it completely died. She had managed to pull over onto the side of the road beforehand, and now she wiped her damp brow and fought back tears as she grabbed her purse and stepped out of the car. Lily pulled her tiny denim shorts down a bit over her long, slender legs, and adjusted her voluptuous breasts, which were practically spilling out of her thin, tight white tank top. She threw her long, thick, auburn hair back off of her face and stared down the road, hoping that someone would come along soon to provide her with some assistance. Lily prayed that nothing was seriously wrong with her car, because she was desperate to get to the city and get out of dodge. She only had so much money to spare considering she had left New York so abruptly, and she had the aching feeling that trouble was hot on her trail. So the sooner she got back on schedule, the better.

As she stared down the road, Lily saw two bright headlights coming her way. She walked toward the back of her car so that she could better see the approaching vehicle. As it got closer, Lily breathed a deep sigh of relief once she realized that it was actually a tow truck creeping along slowly. She hoped that the truck was slowing down because the driver saw her and was willing to stop and help her with her car. When the truck pulled up behind her and stopped, Lily put her hand up to her chest and thanked her lucky stars that help had arrived so quickly. She walked around to the driver’s side of the truck and read the name of the company that had been painted on in a blast of red flames along the door.

“The Dark Angels, Coming To Your Rescue,” it read. Lily certainly agreed with that as she approached the door and waited for the driver to get out of the truck. When he did, Lily almost gasped at how ruggedly handsome the man was. He was well over six feet tall, with dark, wildly curly hair and beautiful sun kissed skin. His brooding hazel eyes appeared as if they had seen their fair share of danger and pain, but they danced as they eyed Lily up and down. The man’s broad, bulging chest and shoulders and muscular arms and abs could clearly be seen through his tight gray tee shirt, and his tight jeans revealed quite a well-endowed package behind the zipper.

“Good evening, ma’am,” the man said politely. “You have some trouble with your car?”

“Ye…Yes, I…I am,” Lily stammered, struggling to maintain her composure. The man’s deep voice and overwhelming presence had quite an effect on her, and she was having trouble getting her words out properly. As a matter of fact, she could barely even look him in his sexy, inquisitive eyes.

“What seems to be the problem?” he continued, walking toward the car and around to the hood.

“It’s my engine. It died. The car is so old and I’ve driven it all the way here from the east coast, so…I guess I just wore it out.”

“The east coast, huh,” the man said, reaching inside of the driver’s window and popping the hood. “Let me take a quick look and see what’s going on.”

Lily walked around to the front of the car and stood next to the man as he looked around underneath the hood. She inhaled deeply and relished in the intoxicating, woodsy scent of his cologne. He must have noticed how close she was standing to him, because he looked over at her curiously then gave her a slight smile.

“I’m Geech, by the way. I work for The Dark Angels Towing Company. And you are?”

“Lily. Lily Winters,” she smiled shyly, reaching out and shaking his extended hand. His large palms engulfed her petite hand, and his strong grip sent shivers of sexual energy down her spine.

“It’s very nice to meet you, Lily,” he replied, holding her hand for several seconds longer than necessary. When he finally let go, he looked back down inside of her car slowly and fiddled around with several wires. Lily remained next to him, still standing closer than necessary. When his arm would accidentally brush up against her full bosom, she did not back away. And when he leaned over in her direction and reached out to check her oil, she didn’t budge as his thigh pressed against her leg. Finally, after a few more minutes of Geech looking around underneath the hood, he stood up and looked directly over at Lily.

“Well, the bad news is it isn’t looking too good for your car. This isn’t anything that I can repair right here on the spot. But the good news is I can tow your car into the shop, and we can take a closer look there and figure out what’s going on and what needs to be done in order to get it back up and running.”

“That sounds great. I really appreciate your help, Geech,” Lily smiled, feeling as though she had been sent a guardian angel to help get her out of the huge, dangerous mess that she had gotten herself into, which had her fleeing New York in such a hurry in the first place.

“Don’t mention it. I’ll get your car hitched to the truck and get it towed to the shop. If we can’t get it fixed tonight, there’s a motel right next door to the shop and a diner right across the street. The motel is pretty inexpensive, and it’s clean and comfortable. And the service at the diner it great, plus the food is really good. So even if you do end up having to spend the night in Amber before you head off to your final destination, you’ll be taken care of.”

Lily inhaled deeply after taking everything in that Geech had just told her. As he headed back to the truck, got inside, and drove it around to the front of her car, she walked over and stood on the sidewalk. Lily did not have the time or the money to stay over in Amber. She needed to get out of the public eye and hide away at her sister’s place as soon as possible, just in case any of her New York ties came looking for her. But at this point, thanks to her decrepit car, all she could do was remain at the mercy of Geech and his mechanics and hope that he could get her back up and running tonight.

Once Geech got her car hooked to the tow truck, he led her to the passenger side of the truck and held her hand as she climbed inside. Then he ran around, hopped in on the driver’s side and pulled off. As they drove down the dark road, Geech made pleasant small talk with Lily. He kept it light and intentionally did not get too intrusive, and discussed things like her driving alone all the way from the east coast and the beautiful weather out west. Lily could tell that he wanted to delve in a bit further and find out what had brought her there, but she was relieved that he didn’t, because it was the last thing that she wanted to discuss.

It didn’t take long for the pair to arrive at The Dark Angels auto repair shop. Geech guided the tow truck inside of the garage slowly, and when he came to a stop, he and Lily hopped out. Lily looked around and eyed several of the mechanics, who had all stopped what they were doing to check her out. Huge, flirtatious smiles spread across all of their faces, and she felt so overexposed and self-conscious amidst their invading stares. But Geech had come around to her side of the truck and put his arm around her immediately; protecting her while silently sending a message to the men that she was off limits. Lily looked up at Geech and gazed into his eyes, grateful that he had once again come to her rescue.

“Come on, I’ll take you into the waiting area, then I’ll talk to the guys about your car and have them check it out and see what’s going on.”

“Thank you,” Lily replied quietly, feeling so appreciative of Geech and his helpfulness. When he opened the door to the small waiting area, Lily walked inside and sat down on the couch while he turned on the television.

“We don’t have much around here to eat,” he told her, “But I can grab you a can of Diet Coke and bag of potato chips from the vending machine to tide you over we figure out what’s going on with the car, then get you some dinner.”

“A Diet Coke and bag of chips sound perfect,” Lily said, unable to stop her roaming eyes from traveling all over Geech’s sexy body. And the kinder and more helpful he was to her, the more attracted she felt toward him. But Lily had to stop herself before she started to fall too hard. She had already gotten herself into enough trouble when it came to men, and she had a past that was rushing to catch up to her at any given moment. So the last thing that she needed was to get involved with yet another guy who appeared to have some sort of dark past lurking behind him as well.

Geech walked out of the waiting area and returned a few minutes later with the can of soda and bag of chips. Lily was starving and so thirsty because she hadn’t eaten or drank anything for hours. So she tore into the chips ravenously and guzzled the soda down in practically three gulps. Geech watched her intently, then laughed when she tossed the empty can and bag into the garbage can.

“Wow, you must have really been hungry and thirsty,” he said jokingly.

“I was,” Lily sighed as she too laughed at herself and brushed the crumbs off of her lap. “I hadn’t had a drink or anything to eat since early this afternoon.”

“So you must be starving,” Geech said, his eyes full of care as well as attraction as he stared at Lily intensely.

“I am, actually,” she admitted. “But hopefully my car will be ready soon and I can get to my sister’s place. I’m sure she has dinner cooking as we speak.”

Geech turned around and looked out at the floor of the shop, watching as the mechanics looked underneath the hood. “I hate to tell you this, but when I went out to grab your snacks, the guys told me that they doubt it if they can fix your car tonight. You blew the engine, and they may have to search around to find a replacement for you. There’s no way we can get that done tonight.”

“Oh
no
,” Lily moaned as she closed her eyes and covered her face. She felt a bolt of sick nervousness hit the pit of her stomach at the thought of being in a foreign place alone overnight. She had felt vulnerable and as though she was in danger for months now, and all she wanted was to get to a safe place around people who would love and protect her so that she could finally breathe easy and relax. “I really need to get out of here tonight,” she continued as she looked back up at Geech desperately. “And I need my car. I can’t afford to stay here tonight. And I don’t feel comfortable staying in a motel alone. I just…I can’t…” Lily stammered as her eyes filled with tears.

“Hey, relax, take a deep breath,” Geech said soothingly, walking over to Lily and sitting down closely next to her. He put his arm around her, and she immediately fell into his chest and exhaled, finally feeling safe within the arms of a man for once. She wiped her eyes and relished in the feel of Geech’s touch. He was now slowly rubbing her back and consoling her, obviously realizing that she was in distress and needed some comforting human contact.

“I’ll tell you what,” Geech began when Lily finally sat up. “Why don’t you just come back to my place and stay with me tonight? It’s obvious that you don’t want to be out here alone in a strange place amongst strangers. So no worries on eating dinner at the diner alone, and don’t even think about having to stay at the motel by yourself. I have a nice apartment a few blocks away, and it’s comfortable and secure. I’ll be there to protect you. And you can have the bedroom. I’ll take the couch. No funny business. You’ll have all the privacy that you need but the comfort of knowing that someone is there to look after you and guard you.”

“Are you sure?” Lily asked him, stunned that he was willing to open up his home to a complete stranger. “I would hate to impose on you like that, especially because you don’t even know me. I could be crazy!” she joked, attempting to lighten up the dark mood which she had set.

“I’m positive,” he laughed. “It’s obvious that you’re not crazy, and I can see that you could use a friend right now. I don’t know what’s going on, or what you’re running from, but there’s just something about you that makes me want to be there you. For some reason, I really feel a strong connection to you, Lily. I felt it the moment I pulled my truck up behind your car. And when I got out and shook your hand, there was an energy between us that really hit me. It’s almost as if I was sent there to help you. So let me do that. Let me help you.”
