Precious reached for his hand, laying her’s across his.
“Hamilton... When I was talking to Bobby on the phone... I could hear someone crying in the background. I think it was her daughter.”
He worked his eyebrows into a frown. He hadn’t even noticed that she was touching him. Hamilton inhaled, saying...
“Sad to say but, this isn’t the first time that this has happened. Bobby loves to jerk that kids chain.”
“Bobby said something about you seeing her but not calling her. What was she talking about?”
He shifted in his seat, not wanting to tell her this. Man... He had to find out how Bobby had gotten his number. He already knew that he wouldn’t renew the contract linked to that phone. He said...
“Precious... On this point, Bobby may have reason to be upset with me. I was supposed to call Sammy to arrange for her visit but I got a little sidetracked. After talking to you in Michigan, then changing my travel plans. When we arrived here; Audrey reminded me several times to call Sam, but each time it completely slipped my mind.”
“You forgot because of me?”
“Don’t do that.” He warned her. “Don’t blame yourself for my mistake.”
“Can you fix this? I mean... If you call Samantha... Do you think she’ll forgive you?”
“Yeah... I think she’ll give me a pass. It’s just too bad that I can’t call her right now.” His face lit with a wicked smirk. Precious had broken his phone, now they were cutoff, until he bought another one.
She tucked a stray hair behind her ear, pretending to be none the wiser. She scooted closer, saying...
“You know... I can make it up to you.” Her fingers crawled up his legs, arousing him to full stiffness. He stilled her hand saying...
“Let me take a shower. I’m dirty and I need a fresh change of clothes.”
“You won’t need any clothes, with what I have planned.”
Precious pressed her palm against his chest, using her other to begin unbuttoning his shirt. She guided her hand inside, rolling his nipple until it was hard and firm.
“Precious... Darling... It will only take a few minutes. I’ll make it a quick shower.”
“I like you like this Hamilton. Raw... Dirty... Natural...”
She peeled his shirt from his shoulders; then she leaned him forward, relieving him of it. Then she went to work on his pants. He wasn’t wearing a belt, so she undid his button. He stopped her when she got to his zipper. Before he could say one word; she pressed her mouth over his. Plunging her tongue deep and nearly gagging him. Her forcefulness excited him. He pushed back; bracing her head before he thrust his tongue inside of her mouth. Their moans mixed with their saliva. She was easing him back; pulling him to lie with her on the floor. But Hamilton would have no parts of that. He moved so fast, she didn’t know when or how he did it. Hamilton stood, taking her up with him. He lifted Precious from her feet. Carrying her in his arms, he said...
“I’ve had it with floors and blankets. If you’re going to take me... We’ll do this in my bed. Then afterwards, we’ll wash up together. Then, it’s my turn and I want you in the shower.”
With long determined strides, he crossed the floor, taking them into his bedroom. She made love to him. Slow and sweet, then fast and furious. When they came, like shooting bolts of lightning. They lay in bed, completely spent. As soon as he caught his breath; Hamilton lifted her from his bed, carrying her to the shower. He soaped her from head to toe, then he placed the soap in her hand. He stood still, letting her soap and wash him. When they were both clean, he positioned her against the tiled wall. In that position he slowly took her from behind. Each time they made love, Precious didn’t think it could get any better, but it did and she’d stopped doubting him. His words still rang in her head. Words telling her that he wanted to make love to her. Not sex; his touches were his tender shows of affection.
Later that evening, after cooling down, and hating that they’d had their misunderstanding. Precious lie in his arms. She asked him...
“Why didn’t you tell me about Bobby? Is that even her real name?”
He kissed the back of her head, then he said...
“Her name is Roberta. And as for your question. I never told you about her because I never really thought about it. Bobby is in my past. She isn’t someone that I normally think about.”
“I find that hard to believe. Hamilton, when I sat with you by the fire, you talked about marriage and you gave me grief for not accepting Stone’s proposal of marriage.”
She felt his deep inhalation and she wondered if perhaps this was a topic best left alone but Hamilton answered her anyway.
“Precious I wasn’t giving you grief about Stone. To be frank... I’m glad that you didn’t accept Stone’s proposal, because if you did, we wouldn’t be here and I would never be able to tell you how I truly feel.”
Precious felt a tightening in her stomach. She’d not prepared herself for anymore surprises. So to lighten the mood, she playfully said...
“Well, you don’t have to worry about me, because I’m never getting married. You’re living proof that marriage doesn’t work.”
“You’re wrong Precious.”
“Hmph.” she grunted. “You’re one to talk. Hamilton, you’re divorced. You can’t forget that.”
“There were extenuating circumstances. I thought I explained that to you.”
“Yeah... You married a crazy woman who once was married to a drunk. They had a wonderful daughter and you were sucked into their awful world.”
He smiled, then said...
“That about sums it up.”
“Yeah... And it proves my point. Actually it proves two points. Will and Bobby’s marriage failed. Then Bobby and your marriage failed. Two marriages down the tubes.”
“Precious the only way that I can persuade you that you’re wrong... You would have to marry me. Then you would see that marriage isn’t all that bad. You just have to be with the right person.”
“After being married to Bobby, how can you still believe in marriage?”
“I can say that because I was never in love with Bobby.”
“That isn’t any proof.”
“It is for me.”
“Hamilton...”
She felt his arms tighten around her waist. He pressed his lips along the nape of her neck. She could feel the throbbing of his sex, as it pulsated near her rump. He was aroused and his stirring fire was awakening her desire. His hand rose to her chest, kneading her breast. She loved the way he payed special attention to her body. Precious could stay wrapped in his arms forever; leaving her cares outside, beyond the trees and the forest.
When he lifted his head, his voice sounded low and husky.
“Precious... Do you even know how much you mean to me?”
She was quiet, then she said...
“Hamilton, I...” she couldn’t find the words. She knew... Or at least, she thought she knew. Hamilton said...
“Precious, I’m in love with you.”
He waited for her to say something and when she didn’t he said...
“You asked me... How I could still believe in marriage... That’s an easy question with an easy answer. Marriage can be a wonderful thing if you’re with a person that you love. I know that now. When I’m with you, I never want to be away from you. That’s the way married couples should feel. I feel that Precious. I have those kind of feelings whenever you’re near me. I’ve had these feelings for a long time. Sometimes, I would travel to Michigan for no other reason than to see you. To be near you.”
She didn’t know what to say after hearing this. She’d been fooling around earlier. Precious had not expected him to take her so seriously; but he had.
He said...
“Look... I don’t expect you to say anything. I just wanted you to know.”
He kissed her neck again, then he said...
“Sleep. It’s late.”
He held her tight, until her breathing was even and he was assured that she’d fallen asleep. Hamilton didn’t know where this relationship would take them, but he knew that he didn’t want her to leave him. He didn’t want her to return to Michigan. From the moment he’d been notified to contact Precious about the reality TV show; his concern had never been about the program. Hamilton had been worried about Precious; even now, he no longer cared if she chose not to return. But he did have one worry. He couldn’t imagine his life apart from her. While fixing her reputation; he had to devise a way to fix her. Precious had a warped understanding of marriage and relationships. She saw a woman’s role as being black and white and nothing in between. He had to get her to see that a life with him would be different. He had to make her want to be with him.

Chapter 8
Roses are red, Violets are blue, I don’t believe in marriage and neither should you
Now, with Precious knowing about his ex-wife Bobby, he avoided any subjects dealing with marriage. All things considered, he was relieved that she knew, but he would have preferred being the messenger. Precious had her own views concerning marriage and no amount of talking would influence her opinion. It had not taken him long to recognize the stubborn streak in her character. When her stance was set on a particular position, she failed to see the obvious, and Hamilton grappled with how best to make her see reason. Everyone person is entitled to have their own opinion, but certain aspects should never be viewed from a single point of view. As a person who had experienced marriage, Hamilton could bear witness to this. Sometimes life’s punchlines aren’t the entire story and it’s the gray areas where the truth is found. But Precious didn’t subscribed to this theory. For this reason, Hamilton couldn’t use front door approaches. He would have to come at her from an angle that would take her by surprise. While pointing out the gaping holes in her logic, he would have to avoid tipping his hand. He would have to start by using other methods of persuasion to point her in the right direction. Hamilton would need to nudge her, using parts of his body to aid her on her way.
Over the last few days, in their free time and when and if he wasn’t busy working. Hamilton made love to Precious, using moves once thought impossible. The man was a walking Kama Sutra Encyclopedia. He wooed her. Flattered her; not being insincere or phony. In every compliment, Precious sensed the truth behind his gestures. His honesty alone was a powerful love potion.
Hamilton had no doubts that they belonged together. They made a perfect fit, and each day his actions demonstrated this. He never said anything using words, or blaring hints. He expressed himself in ways that made her know they were two peas in a pod. While he did these things. As he showed her how much he longed for her. Hamilton romanced her because he wanted Precious to see them through his eyes.
From the moment he kissed her, then made love to her for the first time. His priorities had shifted. This trip wasn’t about saving her reputation for the shows sake; although, he would still see to it that the damage be repaired. When the revelation hit him, the uncanny feeling took root without him bothering to question it. Hamilton had decided in that instant. He wanted Precious in his life, and he would accept nothing less, than having her as his wife.
Precious snipped a rose. She smelled it first, before laying it in the basket with her other treasures. That morning, after eating breakfast with Hamilton, she promised him a meal he would never forget. After breaking his phone, Hamilton had to remedy the problem. They drove into town, stopping at the general store to pick up another one. As he’d warned her; the service provider in that area wasn’t one of the better ones but the store owner told him the best times to use the phone. Before leaving town, Hamilton used the phone at the general store. He didn’t want to risk not being able to update Audrey if the mobile phone worked as poorly as he’d been told. He also found out how Bobby obtained his cellphone number. His ex-wife had stopped by his office; making one of her unannounced visits. She coached an unsuspecting Sammy, to lure Audrey into Hamilton’s office. Bobby told his stepdaughter that Hamilton had bought her a new ereader and the pad had been preloaded with all of her favorite books. The entire story had been an utter lie and Sammy knew nothing about the veil of darkness that draped her mothers deception. While Audrey and Sammy searched for the nonexistent devise; Bobbie combed through Audrey’s desk and purse, stealing her mobile phone. By the time Audrey realized what had occurred, she immediately phoned Hamilton but his phone had already been broken by Precious. So, there had been no way to warn him.
As she recalled the past days events, her next thoughts concerned her new found closeness to Hamilton. It had taken a sticky smoothie to bring them together. Had that not happened; Precious would have gone on with her summer travel plans as scheduled. She stood, admiring lush green grass and towering leaf filled trees. She drew her shirt close. The weather was overcast and windy. She could hear rustling footfalls, approaching from the rear. She didn’t bother to turn, and seconds later she was being drawn into Hamilton’s arms.
