“Don’t be so surprised. I’ve grown quite fond of you.” He kissed her softly. “I want to do this right for a change.”

“You don’t need to be so careful with me.”

“I do. Trust me.” He stroked her soft cheek. “Why don’t you get some breakfast while I shower?”

“I could shower with you…” She grinned provocatively. “That might be fun.”

“Don’t tempt me.” He pressed his lips to her forehead. “When you’re ready we’ll go get those pumpkins, maybe visit your dad and then stop somewhere for a late lunch. How does that sound?”

“Like a date?” She trailed her finger down his chest to his waistband. “I’d love to.”

“Perfect.” He kissed her one more time before pulling away. At this rate they’d never leave the porch. “I’ll see you in a bit.”

“Are you sure?” She gripped his biceps, pulling him back to her. “We could stay here and just… get to know one another.”

Good God, but she was a cheeky addiction!
“I love your fearlessness but we’ll stick with my plan.” He tapped the tip of her nose with his finger. “We’ll leave in an hour.”

“Fine,” she huffed as she walked over to the porch swing. “I’ll be ready.”

He laughed as he made his way into the house, dropping his mug off in the sink before hurrying up the back staircase, taking two steps at a time. The faster he showered, the sooner they could be together. Tessa was right, he had been wasting time, but no more. Today was a new day, full of so many possibilities.

He stripped out of his pajama bottoms and t-shirt while he waited for the water to heat up in the large, master shower. Thoughts of her wet, soapy and naked with him in the stall did nothing for his persistent erection. He stepped into the shower and let the hot water flow over his tense muscles. The multiple shower heads drenched his skin as the heavy steam filled the room. He closed his eyes and let his mind disengage, but then the shower door opened.

Chapter Nine

Tess took off her clothes, tossed them in a pile in the corner of the bathroom, and stepped into the steamy shower. Through the steam she could make out Chase’s muscular back and tight ass before he turned to face her.
All or nothing.

“What are you doing?” His hungry gaze traveled down her now wet body.

“Joining you.” She moved toward him, flattening her palms against his chest. “I didn’t think you’d mind.”

“Tessa.” He shook his head before kissing her. “What am I going to do with you?”

Anything you want
.
“Stop trying to fight me.” She nipped at his bottom lip when his erection grazed her center. “Let’s just go with it.”

He twisted his fingers in her hair, pulling her to his lips and kissing her hard. She gripped his shoulders for support when he lifted her and pressed her into the cool tiles opposite the shower door. When he thrust his hips forward she thought she might come from that action alone. She’d spent weeks thinking about what it would be like to feel him – all of him – inside her.

“Baby.” His voice was low. “My plan was to take you out today. You know, maybe do things in the right order.”

“Fuck order.” She reached in between them, taking his cock in her hand. “I don’t like to follow the rules.”

“Fuck,” he hissed as he tightened his hold on her. “I like it when you talk dirty.” He ran the tip of his tongue along the seam of her lips as he lowered her to her feet. “I thought we agreed to take this slow. How am I supposed to think when you have my dick in your hand?”

You
said
you
wanted to take this slow. I never agreed to that. Would you like it better…” she dropped to her knees, “if your dick was in my mouth?”

“Ahh...” he moaned when she swirled her tongue around the head of his cock.

She looked up at him, waiting for his approval as she licked her lips. She rested her palm on his upper thigh. “You’re not going to stop me are you?”

“I’d be an idiot.” He took her chin in his hand, holding her still as he pressed his cock to her lips. “I did say I wouldn’t fight this anymore so open up.”

“It’s about time.” Opening her mouth, she took him in, inch by inch, slow and steady. There was so much of him to take and she wanted it all. Once she had as much of him as she could handle, she grasped his base in her hand, pumping in time with her mouth.

“Oh, God...” he mumbled as he threaded his fingers through her hair, pulling it tight as he thrust his hips forward. “You make me crazy.”

With each pass of her tongue on the underside of his shaft she felt his control diminishing. His surrender made her drunk with desire. The tingling between her legs intensified almost to the point of pain. She’d never touched herself
there
before, but his moans fueled her lust. She had to relieve the ache. Without releasing him from her mouth, she slipped her hand between her thighs, running her finger along her slit as she continued to suck him. Her nipples tingled as she pleasured herself. Finding her clit, she massaged it between her thumb and finger as the heat of the water streamed down her neck and back. The sensation of the powerful shower heads pulsing over her flesh, the feeling she created between her legs and the taste of his cock threw her into a frenzy. His legs tensed as he gathered her damp hair into a makeshift ponytail, jerking her head back.

“Tessa...” He placed his hand over hers at the base of his shaft and removed himself from her mouth, spraying his warm release all over her neck and breasts.

With each labored breath she took, she increased the pace of her own fingers until she pushed herself over the edge and joined him in the bliss of the moment. He let go of her hair and held out his hand for her. She took it and shakily got up from the floor, cuddling against his wet chest.

He tilted her chin to look into her eyes and wrapped his other arm around her waist, cradling her in his strong hold. “That was amazing.” The corner of his mouth curved into a smile. “But from now on,” he released her face and raised her hand to his, sucking two of her fingers into his mouth. Her stomach fluttered and her pussy pulsed with need when his warm tongue flicked over her fingers. “I’m the only one who makes you come.”

Heat filled her cheeks as she tried to defend herself. “I-I’ve never done that before. I got caught up in the moment and...”

“It’s okay.” He kissed her wrist. “I couldn’t take my eyes off you. That was the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.”

“Really?”

“Really.” He kissed a path from her jaw to her lips. “I was jealous it wasn’t my fingers inside you.”

“It’s early.” She ran her lips across his stubble. “We still have time.”

“You have no idea what you’ve unleashed within me. The things I’m going to do to you all night. Every night. The ways I can make you scream. I tried to keep it at bay, sweetheart. I really did, but after today there’s no going back.”

“I’ve never wanted anyone the way I want you. When I close my eyes, it’s your hands I want to feel on my flesh, your lips all over me. You already do things to me that no one else ever has.”

“I’m going do all kinds of things to you that no one ever has.” He stared deeply into her eyes as he pulled her to him. “You’re mine now, Tessa.”

That one look in his intense blue gaze changed the dynamic of their relationship. Until this point she had been playing her flirtatious games. She’d felt in control. Something told her that was all about to change.

“The huntress just became the hunted,” he whispered into her ear. “All those weeks of taunting and tempting me have a price. A very specific price.”

Her heart beat fast inside her chest, but it wasn’t fear. Just pure, unadulterated lust and anticipation of what was to come. “I’m ready to give in to every one of your desires.”

He kissed her hard, pushing his tongue into her mouth and seeking out hers. Her body molded into his taut, muscular hold. Feeling his naked skin caress hers caused her tremble with need. When he broke the kiss, she gasped for air, her chest heaving up and down.

“You should know, when it comes to you my desires are deep and dark.”

Oh fuck!

“Are you ready for that date now?” He placed a soft kiss on her mouth. “I think some fresh air will be good for both of us.”

She nodded.

“Okay,” he said. “Go finish up in your bathroom and I’ll meet you downstairs when you’re ready.”

“I won’t be long.” She kissed him one last time before stepping out of the shower stall and grabbing a large, fluffy towel from the rack where they hung.

“Tessa,” he called for her as she shut the shower door. “I’m glad you didn’t listen to me when I told you not to join me in the shower.”

“Defiance can be a good thing.”

“A very good thing.”

Tess finished getting ready and headed downstairs to meet Chase. On her way to find him she thought about her bold act in the shower. She’d always been forward and never one to shy away from a challenge, but she usually didn’t pursue guys the way she had him. There was something about him that drew her in. From the first time she’d seen him in that rehab corridor, she knew he was different. Certainly like no guy she had ever met. The more she got to know him the more intrigued she became. She wanted to know everything about him. She wanted to be everything to him.

He wasn’t in the family room so she headed down the hall to his study. He was on the phone and she couldn’t help but overhear the agitation in his voice. It bothered her that he was upset.

“The text messages were inappropriate,” he said. “If you can’t get your drinking under control then maybe you shouldn’t be drinking at all.”

She’d never heard him speak to anyone that way before. Who could it be?

“I accept your apology but please try to refrain from drunk texting me in the future.” He paused, probably waiting for the person on the other end to respond. “I know we’re friends but we also have a professional relationship to maintain. You shouldn’t be saying those things to me.”

Tess stepped into the doorway to make her presence known. He leaned against his perfectly polished mahogany desk, looking down at the floor. She took in his faded jeans and dark blue button down shirt. She’d grown accustomed to seeing him in his expensive suits every day when he left for work, but she liked his casual look. He was always working and seemed to have so much on his mind. She wanted to help him relax and enjoy the things he had.

He smiled at her as he held up a finger, indicating he was almost finished. “It’s forgotten. I’ll see you on Monday.” He paused again. “I have to go. I have plans.” He waited for the person on the other end to respond. “Yes.”

Tess wondered if he was talking to Audra.

“Bye.” He ended the call and in three long strides, he took her hand in his. “Sorry about that.”

“Is everything okay? You sounded upset.”

“It’s nothing important.” He tucked her hair behind her ear. “Certainly nothing that needs to intrude on our day. Are you ready?”

“All set.” She wouldn’t press him on the matter. If he’d wanted to tell her he would have.

“I made a late afternoon reservation at this quaint little cafe on the water. We can go there after we visit your dad.”

“Pumpkins first?” She’d never been to a pumpkin patch before and as dorky as it felt, she was looking forward to going. “I looked online. The farm has hayrides too.”

“Would you like to go on a hayride?” He looked at her as they walked down the hall. “We’ll have time for that too.”

He was poking fun at her. “Do you think it’s silly that I want to?”

“No. I don’t think so.” He opened the door that led out to the garage. “I used to go all the time when I was a kid. Haven’t done it in years. It’ll be fun.”

“Can we take the convertible?” She ran down to the driver’s side of the car he had been letting her borrow. “It’s such a gorgeous day.”

“You really like this car, don’t you?” He laughed. “Are you driving too?”

“Of course.” She pulled the keys from her bag. “Unless you have a problem with female drivers?”

“Not at all.” He opened the driver’s side door for her and motioned for her to get in. “Have at it.”

“Have I ever told you how cool you are?” She kissed his cheek. “Seriously, I’ve never met anyone as awesome as you.”

“I’m flattered.” He swatted her butt. “I think you’re pretty cool yourself.”

“Come on, let’s go! I can’t wait to pick out some pumpkins. I already know what type of jack-o-lantern I want to carve.”

She slid inside the car and started the engine while he walked around to the passenger side. He got in, popped his sunglasses on, and clicked his seatbelt.

Could he be any hotter? “Ready?” she asked as she hit the garage door opener on the visor above her head.

“Go for it.”

“Sweet.” She threw the car into reverse, hit the gas and sped out onto the driveway.

“Oh, boy.” He squeezed the bridge of his nose. “I can see I’m in for a wild ride.”

“You better hold on, Mr. Carlisle. I like it fast.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.”
