Kelsy
was just a kid and Samir wanted to know how he became mixed up in this mess. “So, you niggas thought it would be a good idea to take a shot at me and my family huh? You niggas know Kyle just signed your death certificates, right?” Samir said. But just as the words left his mouth he saw tears fall from Kelsy’s eyes. He was the only one scared shitless. Just then he decided to pull Kelsy to the side.

“What
the hell you doing Sam; this little nigga just tried to rob us,” Meko reminded him.

“Chill
, Mek. We need somebody to tell us where we can find that nigga, Kyle.”

Samir escorted
Kelsy back upstairs and he could practically hear his heart beating out of his chest. He knew the kid wasn’t built for this life and that he was just mixed up in some bullshit out of pure desperation.

“So
, what’s going on Kels, what you doing with these niggas?” Samir asked.

“I didn’t have
a choice. Me and my little brother don’t have nowhere to go and I needed the money to pay the landlord cuz’ my momma been gone for a month. I had to feed my little brother.” Kelsy explained.

“So
, you thought if you robbed me you would live to take care of your brother.”

“I swear I didn’t know we were robbing you
, Sam. They didn’t tell us until today and when I tried to get out of it, Kyle said he’d kill me and my brother. I don’t wanna die, Sam. I swear, I didn’t wanna do it.”

“Look
, I aint gone kill you, Kels, but you will help me find this nigga, Kyle. But after that, you out of this life, you hear me? Tell you what I’m gone do… I’m gone put you up with one of my chicks so you and your brother can have a safe place to stay until this is rectified. I’ma make sure I find your momma and I’ma make sure you and your lil’ bro got money for food and school.”

“Thank you Samir
. I swear, I’m sorry, but I didn’t know it was you.”

Samir lead the youngste
r back into the basement and pulled the Corleones aside. He explained his decision and they all agreed to spare the kid’s life. Meko made sure Carlos would keep tabs on him and sent him to Nicole’s house; a freak they used from time to time to stash work.

Once
Kelsy gave them the info they needed on Kyle’s whereabouts, they removed him from the scene.

“What you want to do with these nigga
s?” Seven asked Samir.

“Send them to dance with the devil,
Mek. As a matter of fact, this is your fault, Cesar, so you handled this shit. Meko, make sure he gets it done.”

“You got it my nigga.
Ces, you strapped?” Meko asked.

Meko, he does ‘em all, and then you niggas come to my crib.”

Samir couldn’t even look at Cesar
, so he turned and walked away. Chase and Seven followed close behind him. Just as Samir was walking out the house, he heard the first shot. He took a deep breath and realized he had just gone from a non-confrontational dope boy, to a killer, in less than 24 hours.

Chapter Fourteen

The ride to his house was a somber one. Samir couldn’t believe that Cesar could be so careless and not do research on Kyle. He was mad at himself for not siding with Meko in the first place. Meko never steered them wrong. Samir knew that how they did business would have to change in order to prevent anything like this from happening again. He had to make an example out of Kyle, so that every nigga in the hood would think twice before crossing the Corleones ever again. He only had one day to do it.

Just as he was becoming lost in his thoughts
, his phone rang. It was  with another number he didn’t recognize. “State your case.” Samir answered.

“Hey
, Samir?” the soft voice responded on the other end of the phone.

“Who is this?”

“It’s Khloe.”

“Oh
, man… what’s up pretty, why it took you so long to call me? That’s not a good look boo.”

“Boy
, stop acting like you been waiting for me to call you. You probably have plenty of girls calling you”

“Yea
h, but you’re the only one I been waiting on. Where you at, let me come get you?”

“I’m at my best
friend’s house, on a hundred and nineteenth.”

“Ok
ay, cool. Give me an hour and a half and I’ll be there. I can’t wait to see that pretty face again.”

“Ok
ay. I’ll be ready and I can’t wait to see you either. I’ll see you when you get here.”

Samir hung up the phone and smiled for the first time that day. He hadn’t stop thinking about
Khloe since he met her at Harold’s. Even with all that was going on in his world; her smile was on the forefront of his mind. He was excited to see her again, so he was determined to make his meeting with his boys short and sweet, so he could make time for her.

When he arrived
at his building, the rest of the Corleones were waiting on him in the lobby. Samir was the only teenager who lived in the building alone. The door man had an idea of his occupation, but Samir was such a pleasant and generous person, nobody in the expensive high-rise even questioned what he did for a living.

The
y all headed to Samir’s apartment, in silence. Once inside, Samir didn’t say a word. He had to gather his thoughts before he found himself being unreasonable. On one hand, he wanted to blame Cesar, but on the other, Cesar had a point when he said that they were in the business of making money. Samir was the leader, so he should have made the final decision that would have prevented this whole mess. After 10 minutes of silence, Cesar began to speak his peace.

“First off
, let me apologize to y’all. I should have researched that nigga more than I did. I brought him in and he fucked us. I should have listened to you, Mek. I take all responsibility

“Man, Cesar
, nobody is to blame. We voted, so that makes all of us responsible. We a family, so whatever happens to this family we’ll handle it like a family.” Seven added.

“Aint no sense in crying over spilled milk
, what’s done is done. What we need to be worried about is finding that nigga and fixing this situation. Then we make sure something like this never happens again.” Meko added.

“Samir
, what you want us to do?” Chase asked.

“First,
Meko is gonna have his young boy’s locate this, Kyle nigga and handle that. And Meko, spare nothing; turn this bitch upside down. I want that nigga found before I go visit my brothers on Saturday. Next, because of what just happened, it’s time to move both spots and beef up the man power around all the spots, twenty four hours a day, from here on out. Next, we’ll never, and I mean never take anybody that aint in a key position to any of our traps again. We will not make transactions for them again. Last; if and when we front a nigga, he will have to go through a trail run for at least a month before we even consider the possibility. We can never have this happen again. So, Meko, you make sure these streets understand what will happen if you cross the Corleones.” Samir informed his crew.

“I got it bro
,” Meko responded.

Aight my niggaz, ya’ll try to chill tonight. Don’t let this shit stress y’all. We’ll fix it. Get some pussy or something and let me get ready, I got a date with shorty from Harold’s.” Samir joked.

For the first time that day Samir was excited about something. It was something about this girl that he couldn’t explain. He knew he
wanted to get to know her better.

He got dressed and th
rew on his favorite Issey Myaki cologne. He wanted to impress her and he had never been concerned with impressing a chic before, because hoes flocked to him. When he spoke to them, they jumped at the chance, especially with his new found street fame. But Khloe was different. She didn’t seem too pressed about him, and in fact, she didn’t even know who he was. Most chicks knew his name before he could even say it. His normal routine consisted of meeting a chic, giving her his number and she would call him 10 minutes later, throwing the pussy at him immediately.

Khloe
, however, waited to call him and she just wanted to know what he was doing, opposed to when she was going to see him again. Samir had to make sure he left a lasting impression on her because although he just met her, it was something about her that made him want to get closer to her.

Little did
he know, Khloe was on the other side of town, just as nervous as he was. She didn’t really talk to many boys, especially someone of Samir’s caliber. She just so happen to be hanging out with her best friend when she ran into him. Samir’s reputation exceeded itself because Khloe’s best friend Shay knew exactly who he was, as well as each member of his crew.

“Girl, Samir got money. His pops and
his brothers are the shit. Word is, he just took over for his brothers who got locked up last year. Your little ass just hit the jackpot.” Shay teased, as she applied Khloe’s makeup.

“Is he a drug dealer or something?”
Khloe asked.

“Bitch
, he’s the man, that’s who he is. He supplies the drug dealers. This dude I use to talk to works for him. You have to be fly, so you can’t wear this mess,” Shay teased.

Shay
pulled out a brand new Versace button down shirt, black, BeBe jeans and a pair of Roberto Cavalli booties, all courtesy of her boo; for Khloe to wear. If she was going to snag the biggest baller in their age group, then Shay knew Khloe had to dress to impress. She even pulled out her black chinchilla coat and added it to Khloe’s ensemble.

“Bitch
, don’t you think this is a little too much. I don’t want him to think I’m some type of gold digger or something.”

“You don’t look like a gold digger
. You look like a girl who knows something about fashion.”

“No
, bitch… I look like the rest of you dope girl chicks.” Khloe said, as she looked at herself in the mirror. Just then Shay’s phone rang and Samir had finally arrived.

“Bitch
, he outside!” Shay screamed as she looked out the window. She was excited that her best friend was about to go on a date with one of the biggest D boys in the hood.

His car glistened
under the street lights. Shay hugged Khloe as she walked out the door. She knew being with Samir would change her sad life. She saw what her friend went through at home, so she was happy that she could have a night where she could smile.

As
Khloe emerged from the house, Samir quickly jumped out of the car to greet her. She was like an angel walking toward him. He had never seen someone so beautiful.

Khloe
was extremely nervous about being with him. She thought he was a gorgeous man and she knew every chick in the hood wished they could be with him. But here he was, standing against his car, waiting for her.

“Oh my
, you look amazing, sweetheart.” Samir complimented Khloe and then he kissed her forehead.

“You look nice yourself
, Samir. You smell good, what’s that, Issey Miyaki?” she asked.

“Yea
h, how did you know?”

“It’s my favorite cologne
,” Khloe smiled.

“That’s good to know
. Well, let’s get outta here.” Samir said, as he opened her door. He noticed that she reached over and unlocked his door and he remembered the scene from the movie
Bronx Tale,
when Sonny told C that if she reached over to unlock his door, then she was keeper and if she didn’t, then she was selfish.

Although it was only a movie it could
have easily been applied to real life and with that one gesture, Samir knew he had inadvertently met a great one in Harold’s that day.

“So
, what you wanna do, have you eaten anything yet?” Samir asked.

“No
, I haven’t. I am kinda hungry.”

“Where you
wanna go, I was thinking something like Pizzeria Uno or Lawry’s.”

“Ok
ay, that’s fine. I love pizza, so pizza is cool.”

“Good, I was hoping you said that, it’s my favorite spot
, so I know you’ll like it”

On the ride downtown, Samir couldn’t stop admiring
Khloe as she quietly sat in the passenger seat. He never thought he would meet a girl that had the ability to make him feel butterflies in the pit of his stomach. He was Samir Kendall aka Sam Corleone, and here he was, nervous about a chic.

He wanted to make sure she enjoyed herself that night because he wanted to see her again. Samir knew all the girls in the hood and this girl was a fresh face he had never seen before. That made her more attractive to him
, especially because she wasn’t making a big deal about who he was. He didn’t even know if she knew who he was. It was refreshing to be with someone who only saw him as person instead of what he did for a living.

When they arrived to the restaurant, Samir allowed
Khloe to go inside and get their table while he parked the car. He didn’t want her to have to walk in the cold. He almost ran from the parking garage to the restaurant so he wouldn’t keep her waiting long. She was still sitting in the restaurant foyer, waiting to be seated when he walked into the restaurant.

“How long is the wait
?” he asked her.

“Oh, there is no wait
. I didn’t want to sit until you came in.” she explained to him as she informed the hostess that they were ready to be seated. Samir smiled as he thought of the consideration she had for him this early in their meeting.

“So
, how come I never seen you before?” Samir asked.

“Well, I don’t live in the city
. I live in Country Club Hills.”

“Damn
, what you doing way out here?”

“Well, I
kinda ran away from home and my best friend’s mother let me stay at their house.”

“Ran away?”

“Yeah, my mother hates me, so I ran away because she’s abusive.”

“Wow, sorry to hear that baby.”

“Oh, it’s okay. I’m used to it.”

“But
, you shouldn’t be used to that shit.” In the middle of their conversation, Khloe noticed his phone’s going off continuously. Curious to know if what Shay told her was true, she found the courage to ask him about his life.

“So, my best
friend Shay said that you were a drug dealer or you supply the drug dealers. Is that true?”

“Aww man, you really don’t know who I am. To answer your question, yes, I sell drugs for a living, but it’s something that I was raised in.”

“How old are you, aren’t you
kinda young to be a drug dealer?” she asked, as she took a sip of her pop.

“I
’m seventeen, but I been hustling for about a year.”

“Oh, well
, I think it’s kinda dangerous because drug dealers go to jail or end up dead,” she explained.

“I
’ll be okay, but is it going to be a problem, I mean, I really like you and I don’t want what I do to make you not like me.”

“Oh no
. I like you a lot. I just don’t want you to think that I’m a gold digger or something.”

“I don’t think that
. I know gold diggers and I can tell you aren’t one of them.”

Samir and
Khloe spent the rest of the dinner talking about everything under the sun. It was the first date he was on where he actually cared about what a woman had to say, opposed to thinking about what hotel he was going to take her to and if she could suck dick.

With
Khloe he was only interested in what made her smile and what he could do to see that smile on her face at all times. It was only the first date but he quickly made the decision that he wanted her in his life.

When he dropped her off that night
, he didn’t want to lose sight of her. He wished he could wake up to her face the next morning, but he decided to respect her and wait until the next chance he had to see her again.
