            Like a wild
animal she clawed at his skin and writhed under his body.

            He did this
to her, he made her so hot and crazed. Made her forget every other thing that
mattered besides him and the way they made each other feel.

            She watched
him with lustful eyes, her perfect man. His body was so tightly packed with
muscle, sinful little beads of sweat slid down all that hardness.

            His skin
looked impossibly hard over all that strength, but it was butter soft to the
touch. His eyes, the darkest forest green, devoured her as they swept over her
body.

            There had
never been a man as beautiful as he was.

            Lifting her
legs higher he placed him around his shoulders and she lost her damn mind.

            The feeling
of pleasure was indescribable. Her head thrashed from side to side, her finger
nails gripped his forearms and her eyes were captured by his.

            No matter
how she writhed beneath him, his eyes always seemed to find hers.

            Like water
starting to boil, she felt her orgasm begin to build and rise. She was clinging
to him the sensations too powerful, her climax coming too strong.

            All at once
her body seized around her, her muscles jolting almost to the point of sweet
pain.

            It was such
a deep orgasm that it pulled him down with her.

            Hot wet
lashes of cum filled her, pushing her orgasm on.

            He groaned
heavily over her, his arms shaking at the elbows as he continued to prop
himself up through it.

            With the
last of her strength she pulled him down flatly on top her, cradling his body
against hers, and when she shut her eyes she fell asleep almost instantly in
the safety and warmth of his arms.

            Sebastian
was extremely pleased with himself and the progress he had made with Marcus.

He
had stopped to have dinner and say goodbye to a few colleagues after the
meeting. He would be escorting Marcus back to the New York Embassy tomorrow
night and staying there, meanwhile Cass would put together  a stealth team to
capture Sampson alive and bring him in for questioning.

He
was the key to busting this thing wide open. They had either found the leader
of the Nine or they had found his right hand man. They would break him.
Sebastian would make it his personal mission in life, his most burning
obsession, until they had discovered every single secret that man had to hide.

Cloud
nine didn’t even begin to describe his mood, until he got to his front door.
She had been here, her stink was all over everything.

Cautiously
he opened the door, unsure whether she was still inside.

Thankfully
the little pest was already gone.

He
set about to figure out
why
she had come back at all and found a folded
sheet of paper addressed to him sitting neatly on her favorite couch.

Frowning
he unfolded it and began to read.

S-
I know I fucked up… ok more than fucked up, I took things to
nuclear blast level between us, but you’ve gotta trust me on this-

He
stopped reading for a moment to let out a scoff he simply couldn’t keep in.

-Marcus
is the leader of the Nine. I’ve been working with him for months. He’s going to
attack the NY Embassy tonight. You have to get there now to warn and help your
people before it’s too late. I’m going into hiding, because they’ll kill me for
warning you. I know you don’t believe me, I know he’s your friend, but it’s the
truth.

You’re
the only person who’s ever looked at me as more than a sex object, I tried to
not let it get to me, but it did, and now it’s ruining all my heartless plans.
I hope you’re happy.

Dick.

-A

For
a full minute he stood in dumbstruck silence. What the hell was this shit?

Marcus
being the leader of the Nine was some sort of cosmic joke. His parents had been
traitors to the Breed and he had denounced them when he was barely old enough
to be considered a man.

That’s
how their friendship had started, once he was on his own Marcus had come to
Sebastian’s family for support and shelter.

Years
later when he discovered they had had a hand in the death of Cass and
Sebastian’s parents, he was fueled by as much rage as they were. He had called
for them to be hanged before Sebastian had even gone off for vengeance. He had
even offered to go with him on his hunt for all those responsible.

Marcus
might be a pompous ass, and was certainly losing his edge as the years went on,
but he was far from a traitor.

So
if she was lying to him, what was she trying to cover up, or distract him from?

Such
a conniving little minx could have multiple goals with every ruse and lie.

Was
she out to take him down? Perhaps trying to lead him off to be ambushed
somewhere?

He
loosened his burgundy tie and reminded himself that hell hath no fury like a
woman scorned. She had never been rejected before, especially so fiercely,
could she truly be after revenge? He wouldn’t have thought that she had any
pride left in herself to be offended over.

The
answer suddenly hit him like a ton of bricks.
He
wasn’t the target,
Marcus was. They were trying to get Sebastian out of the way so that they could
take Marcus out tonight while he was away.

Sebastian
bolted out the door like a flash of lightning. He had to get to his friend
before it was too late.

Punching
in Marcus’ number he rushed up flights of stairs, hell bent on getting to his
apartment. They had only been apart for two hours, had Sampson or Ayla already
gotten to him? Had he let his friend down just as he thought he was saving him?

Anger
surged through him as his call went straight to voice mail for the third time
in a row. He had to have been too late.

Too
late.

Panic
filled him.

Nearing
the door to Marcus apartment, he didn’t slow down, just threw his shoulder into
the lock and felt it crumble.

Quickly
he searched around but found no signs of a struggle.

Running
out of options he dialed the front desk and the Embassy’s head secretary picked
up the phone.

“I’m
sorry to bother you darling, but have you seen Marcus? I really need to find
him,” he did his best to sound calm and collected. The last thing they needed
was for a panic to start.

“He’s
gone off to wrap up a few things before he leaves with you tomorrow, I can try
and call him for you,” she offered.

“No,
no, that’s unnecessary,” he had already tried and the phone was clearly off,
“what about Sampson? Any idea where I could find him?”

“They
left together sir,” she replied coolly.

All
around him a deep coldness sank into the world. His old friend was dead.

            Hours
passed as Quinn silently watched his sleeping mate. She had passed out almost
immediately after they made love. He should have joined her but his mind was
too restless; no matter how exhausted his body was, his mind was raging.

            Only the
beautiful siren beside him kept him calm. If not for her he would be going mad
with his need for vengeance.

            The only
thing in the entire world that could stop his blood lust, was her.

            With gentle
fingers he stroked her hair, the soft shallow sound of her breathing soothed
him.

            Nothing
could ever pull him from her side.

            When he
thought of what his life used to be, of how
he
was once he had escaped
the Hunters… he closed his eyes and tried to keep his breathing steady. The
last thing he wanted was for her to wake from him.

            Despite his
best efforts however, she began to stir.

            “Everything
‘right?” she mumbled, rubbing her cheek against his shoulder like a cat.

            “Couldn’t
be better,” he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her in tighter.

            “No
something was wrong, I felt it,” she blinked the sleepiness out of her eyes.

            “Nothing
for you to worry about,” he rolled so that they were each lying on their side
facing each other, “my mind just wandered into a bad place, that’s all.
Everything is fine now that I can see your beautiful face.”

            “Oh no you
don’t,” she poked him in the chest, “there’s no way in hell you would let me get
away with that, so you had better spill it.”

            “I was
thinking about my time with the Hunters, and how bad things were, and then my
time after I had escaped from them, and how it seemed to get worse,” he pulled
the down comforter up higher on their bodies, so it rested just under her chin.

            “How could
it possibly have gotten worse?” her eyebrows knit together in concern.

            How could
he even begin to explain?

            “When I was
being held a prisoner it was awful, the things they did to us I hope they rot
in hell forever for,” he tried to keep the violence out of his voice, “but when
we were there and these things were happening to us, at least we had each
other. It was almost like a team… us versus them… does that make sense?”

            She nodded
her head slowly, but all he saw was sympathy and concern.

            “When I
escaped, yes I was finally free, but to do what? To go where? For what purpose
did I have to live anymore?” he shook his head and hated that they were
discussing this, “I didn’t belong anywhere. I barely knew anything about the
Breed and had no idea if they would accept me, or shun me as some sort of
mutant freak. Or worse, blame me for Balor and Rod being captured.

            It’s not
like I could go back to my family. With the way things had gone down I knew
that I had killed them with my disappearance. How could I randomly show back up
on their door step? Even if I had, what would I do then? Go back to college?
Start a ‘normal’ life after being tortured, after knowing there’s so much more
to life than I had ever known? In my wildest dreams I never could have imagined
they were actually out there looking for me, that they had any clue I was still
alive.

            I was just…
floating… directionless…. Pointless….”

            “I don’t
want to hear you talk about yourself that way,” she interrupted and his heart
swelled at the love that filled her eyes.

            He wouldn’t
push it, but there was no way she could ever deny that she was head over heels
in love with him. That knowledge was enough to banish any negative thoughts he
ever had.

            “That’s how
I felt for a short time, when I was in a very dark place, and before I met
you,” he held her tight and let her feel his strength, “now that I have you,
I’ll never feel that way again. You anchor me, I’ll always have a purpose
because I have you.”

            “I’m so
sorry,” she whispered, not bothering to hide the sadness that pooled in her
eyes.

            “Nora for
what? Baby we’re together now, everything is fine,” he cradled her face in his
hands, forcing her to look at him.

            “I was such
a bitch. I never, not once, thought about how you felt. All I cared about was
what I wanted. I was so selfish while you were suffering,” her voice cracked
and he could feel the tears were on their way.

            “That’s
enough,” he rubbed his thumb across her check, “we’re both kind of assholes,
it’s why we’re perfect together.”

            She laughed
and it broke apart the foul mood their conversation had brought on.

            “I guess we
both are kind of assholes… cheesy assholes,” she giggled, “… we’re so gross.”

            “I think
it’s just you,” he looked at her pointedly and received a jab to the gut for
it.

            “In all
seriousness though,” he started again soberly, “I just want you to know how
much you mean to me, and now I can tell you without having to worry about you
running even farther away from me.”

            “I wasn’t
running that hard from you,” she tried to keep a straight face.

            He smirked
down at her and she giggled again. Taking a deep breath he started again.

“I
was lost and alone, and I felt more helpless than I ever had in my entire
life,” he looked away from her and prepared himself for what he was about to
say, “the last Hunter compound that I attacked was the biggest one I had ever
gone after. I didn’t think that I was going to make it out of there alive. To
be honest, I had planned not to.”
