Buddhist monk and scholar, especially of
Tantric
Buddhism. He was born a

, but became Buddhist in response to a vision. He wrote many works on monastic discipline, issues in

, and tantra. The tr. of his works into Tibetan began under his own supervision, thus extending his influence.
