(Heb., ‘meal’). A Jewish festive meal. According to the
Talmud
, there are two sorts of festive meals.
Se’udah shel reshut
has nothing to do with religion, and scholars are discouraged from participating (
B.Pes.
49a);
se’udah shel
mitzvah
, on the other hand, is a meal held in conjunction with religious rejoicing, as at a
circumcision
, a wedding, the
Sabbath
, the
Passover
seder
, etc. It is a religious duty to share in and to enjoy such feasts.

, ‘service’). Sikh ideal of service. Service rendered in accordance with God's will and without expectation of reward counteracts

(egoism). A sev
panthi is a Sikh who has spent a life in service to the
panth
; or more specifically, a member of a group which serves others, founded in memory of Bh

who tended the wounded in battle on both sides.
