In Christianity (more accurately, ‘capital’ or ‘root’ sins): pride, covetousness, lust, envy, gluttony, anger, and sloth (
accidie
). The traditional number is first found in
Gregory
the Great (although with
tristitia
, ‘gloom’, instead of
accidie
