Yaum al-D
n
.
The Day of Judgement in Islam, succeeding immediately the day of resurrection (
yaum al-Qiy
ma
), so that the two can be regarded as parts of the same event, and are often virtually synonymous. It is the day when each person's deeds will be weighed on an exact balance (Qur’
n 7. 8 f.; 21. 47; 23. 103 f.; 101. 6–9)
Yaum al-Qiy
ma
.
The day of resurrection in Islam. Referred to frequently in the
Qur’
n
as a matter of certainty (against the scepticism of
Mu
ammad's
opponents), it is likened to the power of God to bring new life from the dead earth. The descriptions of what it will be like are frequent and detailed.
