Yellow Turban rebellion

), which controls the level from which breath is exhaled. It is usually linked to

Yen-t’ou Ch’uan-huo
(Jap., Gant
Zenkatsu;
828–87)
. Ch’an/Zen master, dharma-successor (
hassu
) of Te-shan Hsuan-chien. His death, murdered by robbers, caused the problem of ‘Yen-tou's cry’: far from accepting death with equanimity, he uttered a cry heard for miles around.
Hakuin
solved the problem when he attained enlightenment and said, ‘Indeed, Gant
is alive, strong, and well’.
