After a while we broke apart and I breathed deeply, feeling slightly light headed.
“I’m going to go now, since you seem somewhat conflicted,” he said with a smug expression. “But you know where to find me. And I know where to find you. And I’m not going to stop looking just because some fool thinks he can snag you away.”
I licked my lips and nodded, still catching my breath.
With one last squeeze he let me go and stepped out the door, pulling it shut behind him. As he did, I couldn’t help but notice the bedroom door opening and Corbin stepping into the room.
“Sounds like I was just issued a challenge, even if he doesn’t know it.”
The way Collin had asked me about a competitor made me suspect otherwise. “He might know it’s you. You never know.”
Corbin smiled. “No. He’s thinking Cohen is the competition.”
“Cohen?” I couldn’t hide the surprise in my voice. “The way Collin talked I thought Cohen and Agent Rogers were together.”
“They’ve had a few trysts, but nothing serious. And anyway, he’s got good reason to suspect Cohen of being interested. He gave you the gun back, didn’t he? Few FBI agents would tamper with evidence like that. His attraction must be obvious to Collin. After all, they know each other well.”
“But why would Cohen be interested in me?”
Laughter rumbled from his throat and his face glowed as he considered me. “I guess we’ll have to wait and see. But it’s probably the same reason the rest of us are interested, Temptress.” Stepping forward he swept me up in his arms. “Cades live for danger.”
