“Let’s get out of here,” Fate said quietly as she took Fortune’s arm.

“Where should we go?” he asked as he placed his free hand over hers and gazed into her eyes.

“I’ve found another interesting case.”

“Really?!” Fortune exclaimed, his eyes brightening. “Another woman?”

“Male. A soldier.” She said in an excited whisper.

“Deployed in combat?”

Fate nodded with a slight giggle and then quickly added, “We could mess with Karma so much.”

“He’s such a little bitch,” Fortune said as he scrunched up his nose.

“I know,” she replied as she squeezed Fortune’s arm. “If anyone needs to be taught a lesson, it’s Karma. He’s had it coming for much too long, and I know just how to give him what he deserves.”

“Oh, honey,” he said with a sparkle in his eye and a deep sigh. “I really like the sound of this.”

“I knew you would.”

Thanks

Thank you to every philosophy teacher I ever had - both formal and informal. Without being exposed to so many different theories I never would have personified Fate and Fortune in this manner.

A very special thanks to my husband for making me coffee and keeping me going when I’ve had too many projects on my plate. He also cooked when I was too tired, and also when I faked being too tired because I didn’t want to cook. He knew it and cooked anyway. That’s love.

Thank you to Jill Wronski, who edited this in segments as I sent the pieces to her. Thanks for your patience throughout this project. I was always behind schedule.

I’d also like to express gratitude to my dog, who is my constant writing companion. If Fate tried to enter my life I’m pretty sure that my dog would bite her on the butt and rip a hole in the seat of her Chanel suit.

We apologize, but you will need to know how to spell her last name to get there. However, we do understand.

We have trouble with it, too.
