“Remember what we talked about? Remember this is Silas, don’t engage him.”

“I fucked Tim... hear that Kessler? I fucked him,” I called, feeling a bit mad in the head as I grinned at him. “I fucked him until he liked it.”

Kessler’s teeth gritted together, I could almost hear the squeaking but his husband came to his rescue. “You know that’s not true, Kess. They checked, you know he’s lying.”

“He called me Daddy. You kinky fuck.”

Kessler roared and charged towards me; he raised his fist and another crack hit my jaw. I spun in place this time like a chimera piñata before receiving a blow against my gut.

Then I felt him grab me, his fingers digging into my shoulders as he shook me. “Alright, you piece of shit. I’m done playing your fucking games. Where’s Perish?”

Perish? So he did want something out of me, he wanted the non-chimera back, our other born immortal. Well, he could pull out my fingernails and rip out my eyes because he wasn’t getting a word out of me. Killian was with Perish.

“Perish is long gone.” My voice choked on my own blood. I spat it and smirked at him. “He left long ago,
brother
.”

Kessler shook his head at me. “Bring Killian in.”

I chuckled, wondering if I should pretend to be upset or not. “Go ahead; King Silas will never let you kill him. If you want to torture him in front of me go ahead, though please monitor my heartbeat so you can see just how little of a shit I give.”

The two men stared at me, two different looks poisoning their brute faces. The husband was suspicious but Kessler stared at me like he wanted to call my bluff.

Go ahead, kill the slave.

Kessler brought out his radio and talked into it. I heard Killian’s name.

My body swayed back and forth, my hands held over my head. I felt the handcuffs, tight and restricting on my wrists, already becoming chafed. It was wrenching my shoulders in an uncomfortable position but I knew I wouldn’t be alive for very much longer.

I stared at him as he lowered the radio and realized that if I got them to kill Chally quickly... not only would Kessler be in trouble but I could make sure Killian was safe forever.

“Bring him in, Daddy,” I whispered with a smirk. “See how fucked up of a clone I am. I would love to prove to you just what came out of Kreig’s lab.”

The looks, it was the looks they were giving me that filled my body with adrenaline, it was what was giving me the drive to egg them on.

Sorry Chally, but my boyfriend will always be more important than you, more important than anyone.

The two men stood there with their arms crossed, glaring hatred into me. If looks could kill their razor blade-filled glares would kill every immortal in existence.

A few minutes later the steel door to the room opened.

Chally was badly injured which I was surprised at, though I guess they had probably been interrogating him too. Though he was a mute and I didn’t have to worry about them torturing secrets out of him. Obviously they didn’t suspect that this wasn’t Killian if they were trying to bait him against me.

When Chally saw me his large owl-like eyes widened. He lifted his hands to sign something at me before dropping them. I couldn’t understand him anyways but it made me wonder if he really was playing into my plan for passing him off as Killian.

They had been friends but his loyalty towards my boyfriend was odd to me. Chally hadn’t known him for that long, why wouldn’t he turn him in in hopes for some leniency? Was he that loyal towards my boyfriend who had freed him?

I wonder if Chally knew they were about to kill him.

Chally turned his eyes from me and looked over at the man who had brought him in, but he had already closed the door.

We were alone, the four of us in this interrogation room. My fake boyfriend, my chimera brother, and the husband that Silas let him have.

“Well?” I raised an eyebrow and spat out another mouthful of blood. “Go torture him a bit, he might have stopped talking for me but he can still scream.”

The Imperial General glared at me, before in a desperate attempt to call my bluff he stalked towards Chally.

Chally backed away from him until his back hit the wall. He cowered as Kessler raised his hand and shrieked when he hit him several times in the face.

Then he pulled the boy to his feet, grabbing him the same way that he had grabbed me. “Where is Perish?”

The boy’s entire body was trembling; he let out a weak whimper and shook his head before clasping his hands over his face.

Kessler hit Chally again and yanked him to his feet; he gave him a hard push and pushed him in front of me. The walls echoed from Chally’s screams as Tiberius kicked him in the ribs, I saw his hands claw the concrete from the pain. Everything about this thin and frail kid was giving them what the predators wanted; my only wish for him was that they made it quick.

Tiberius kicked Chally until he rolled onto his back, his nose bloodied and his left eye staring to become rosy pink from bloodshot. He stared up at the ceiling in a daze before his eyes fell to me.

I made eye contact with him and gave him a small nod, not knowing what else I was supposed to do.

When Kessler grabbed him again I saw Chally’s hands move and before the others could notice he signed Killian’s special hand signal name, before mouthing
safe
to me.

I stared at him and nodded again, then with a frustrated growl Kessler threw him across the room; Chally’s head hit the wall with a crack. Kessler then grabbed his blond hair and wrenched his head up. The big tough chimera slammed the scrawny kid’s face against the concrete before pulling him up again.

What a bad ass, beating on a kid less than half his size.

Chally’s glassy grey eyes stared off into the abyss, blood streaming down his nose and mouth, then he disappeared as Kessler slammed his head back down to the concrete.

“Beating kids... how manly of you,” I said with a smirk, looking down from my dangling chain and seeing the pool in front of Chally’s head start to grow. I could hear his choking noises, and finally a sad little gurgled sob.

“He isn’t even flinching!” Kessler roared. He turned angrily to his husband and pointed towards me. “His heart isn’t even fucking fluctuating! He doesn’t care... just like Elish said. He’s a monster a fucking monster. We’re not –”

“Not in front of him, you idiot!” Tiberius found his balls and snapped at his husband. “Just call Silas and get him here; he can deal with this fuck. What he’s about to spend a lifetime in can atone for him killing Timothy.”

Kessler glared at me and I glared right back, feeling a darkness start to descend on my head. A smooth blanket of cold energy that was almost tangible on my body; the Reaper in me that had been edging my conscious. The same motivation that made me want to torture Kessler for everything that he had ever done to me.

“Yes, call Silas. I would love to see who I am supposed to be with... forever. Especially since you just killed my boyfriend.” I smiled thinly. “When me and Silas are married I will become king, and just think of what fun I will have when that happens. I really cannot wait; I have plans for you and your entire legion family.”

The Imperial Commander got another good hit on me, making my body spin back and forth. To my left Chally was whimpering and groaning but he was still moving. I was surprised he wasn’t dead yet.

I lifted my head up though when I heard a flick. I cocked an eyebrow at Kessler as I saw him take out a switchblade.

“Silas doesn’t even know we have you and I won’t tell him until I decide I have gotten enough out of you,” Kessler said in a hushed voice. He put the knife up to my neck before slowly trailing it down my silk clothing.

“And if you think this -” He looked around before locking his eyes with me again. “- is all the Legion has... oh, my boy, we’re just starting. I know your weak spots, because I know King Silas’s, and before the end of our special time together – you’ll sing like a canary. No matter how many times I have to kill you.”

My smile only widened and I decided then to be the biggest asshole in the world.

I puckered my lips and blew him a kiss. “Bring it on, Daddy.”

I clenched my teeth as he dug the knife into my stomach. I tried to take a breath but the blade kept pushing, pushing... pushing.

I tensed my body as he broke through the skin and steeled myself as I felt the cold metal break into my gut. I looked down and saw the entire switch blade get pushed into my stomach, a flow of blood starting to stream down his hand and onto the floor.

He twisted the knife and I heard his hot breath in my ear. “Where’s Perish?”

With every ounce of my restraint I tried to hold back a grunt of pain. I managed to get it down to a sharp inhale as he wrenched the knife up my gut.

My entire body started to tremble from shock; though I adamantly tried to stop it, it was something I couldn’t control. My mind might know I was coming back but my body didn’t.

“He left... long ago,” I said through clenched teeth, grunting as he twisted the knife again. My head was starting to go light and when he withdrew the knife, and a quick flow of blood coated his hands, I knew it wouldn’t be long until I died again.

Then he slid the knife down lower and pressed the blade against my crotch. “I will give you one last chance, Raven. Tell me where the scientist is or else I will break you... my way.”

The blood was flowing quickly from my stomach, the knife blade he stabbed me with tapping against his dark green cargo pants.

Tap, tap, tap.

“Gone.”

Kessler nodded; his face sculpted steel holding a burning anger inside of his grey eyes that told of a hatred only a chimera father could have. I think he was done with me at that moment but I knew his head must not be in the right place. There were so many fun ways to torture someone, I had gotten quite creative when I was torturing Bridley.

Was this really all he had?

I was disappointed.

My vision got blurry; I blinked it away and shook my head. Besides Chally groaning to my left I could hear my own blood splattering on the ground; a fast stream, he must’ve known which of my organs to pierce. I heard the pancreas bled like a bitch.

I coughed and saw more blood.

“Bring him to Nero, I’m done with him,” Kessler said after several moments had passed.

I tried to snap myself out of my blood loss-induced haze. I looked up when the door slammed and was surprised to see Caligula looming over me.

Then I was on the floor; they must’ve unchained me, or he did anyways. I think we were alone in the room.

Caligula pulled me to my feet though he struggled under what I knew were shot legs. He had some stamina on him, or else chimera medicine was more advanced than I thought.

Indeed Caligula was a tough son of a bitch, his odd mercury-like eyes hard and stoic.

Good ol’ calm and controlled Caligula... but I had heard him screaming.

I had seen his agony and I had feasted on it.

I wonder what state of mind he was in right now, far far away in the greywastes with his boyfriend locked up with Reno. Locked up and probably getting...

My eyes widened. As Caligula pulled on my arm to walk me out of the interrogation room I stopped.

“Nico.” I was surprised that my voice had left me; I was losing blood faster than I thought.

But it got his attention. Caligula paused and stared at me like I had just uttered black magic.

“What?” he said cautiously.

“Reno...” I coughed but the force of the cough brought me to my knees. I didn’t think I was going to make it out of this room; I was dying and quickly.

“Morse code on the ransom tape. They’re in Cypress sewers... Cypress sewers, understand?” I rasped, trying to make eye contact with him so he could tell I wasn’t lying. We may not be on the same side but if he loved his boyfriend... where he was Reno was.

“Cypress sewers?” Caligula looked behind him to make sure no one was listening. “What do you mean there was Morse code?”

“His blinking... he blinked it.” My head tilted forward and this time it felt like it weighed a thousand pounds. I wasn’t able to lift it and I wasn’t able to grab onto the bits of reality that were helping me maintain consciousness. I fell forward onto the concrete and it was there that I died again.

Chapter 27

Reno

If I was asked before, I would say pain didn’t have a colour... but it did. It was a bright, uncomfortable colour and no matter how tight you closed your eyes you couldn’t escape it. Not only a colour though, pain had a taste, a sound and a smell... it had systematically become all of my senses and it seemed to be my life.

There were no pain killers, no doctors, and no help... I was stuck in another room, though this one had streams of blinding light shining on my bloodied and dirtied corpse.
