We’re both silent all of the way back to his place and I’m not sure if I did something wrong or if he’s blaming me for the incident. When we pull into his garage, he comes around and helps me out. I’m confused when he leads me out of the garage and to my car. He opens the door for me.

“You should go home,” he grumbles. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

I’m starting my car before it even dawns on me what’s happening. I look up and his garage door is already shut, so I do what he asks and drive home.

The whole time I’m wracking my brain, trying to figure out what the hell happened. We were having a great time, then Gabe went to take a call and that stupid guy showed up. Suddenly, Gabe became distant. On a constant loop, it runs through my head that he’s mad at me, but I didn’t do anything. That guy’s the one that came on to me. I was just sitting there, minding my own business.

Well, fuck him, then. If he’s going to be like that, then I don’t freaking need him.

Chapter Seven

Jasmine

It’s been two days since my night with Gabe. He called, like he said he would, but I’ve ignored every single one of his calls. I’m not ready to talk to him. I wasn’t expecting his dismissal to hurt as much as it has.

Today, he sent flowers with a note asking me to call him so he can explain. I know, eventually, I’ll give in because I miss him. I knew I was screwed when I saw the flowers this morning and began to cry. He’s all I think about. I just want to bury my nose in his neck and breathe in his scent.

I shake my head to clear my thoughts about Gabe and get back to making my shopping list. I’m making the cupcakes for my mom’s group home party at the skating rink Saturday. Like I knew would happen, Jordan backed out of helping me. He called me earlier this morning and told me that he and Topher were going out. I thought they broke up, but what do I know? They seem to be trying to make it work, which makes me happy, but, even though I’m used to it, I hate when he breaks his promises to me.

I grab the list and my purse and head out to my car. It’s hot as hell already and I’m glad I’m wearing a tank top and tiny knit shorts. I turn on my air and let it run on high for a few minutes before I close the door. As I drive toward the store, I think I see Gabe driving in the opposite direction, but he’s gone before I know for sure if it was him. It probably wasn’t.

I fill my cart with eggs, flour, vanilla, and various other ingredients to make the cupcakes and the homemade frosting. Two years ago, my mom, brother, and Jill all pitched in and bought me a baby blue KitchenAid Stand Mixer, my favorite color.

I pay the cashier for my groceries. I load the groceries in my sweltering car and climb inside. Once the car is cool, I head home to begin baking.

I set everything out on my kitchen counter and wrap a bandanna around my head to keep my hair from getting in my eyes. I turn on some music and begin mixing up cupcake batter.

I dance and sing while I bake batch after batch of cupcakes in various flavors. Baking is my life. Over the years, I’ve perfected many of my own recipes. I’ve even had people pay me to make treats for parties and other small events. Ever since I was a little girl, I cooked and baked. Cooking is the one thing where my mom has always been able to teach me things. Even though she lost a lot of her memories, she’s a natural in the kitchen, something both her and I inherited from Grandma. The timer goes off, pulling me from my thoughts.

I pull the pans out of the oven. Then there’s a knock on the door. I set them on the cooling racks and go to the door. I look through the peephole and see Gabe standing on the other side. I know he’s not going to leave, so I might as well let him in. I take a deep breath and open the door. His scent hits me and I just want to throw my arms around him and bury my nose in his chest, but not until he explains himself.

“What are you doing here?” I ask as I step back to let him in. I shut the door and wait for his answer.

He looks me in the eye and I can see how tired he is. It looks like he hasn’t been sleeping. He steps toward me. I should back away, but I don’t. This man, in such a short time, has become my addiction. I don’t just mean physically, but emotionally too. I love talking to him. He’s so smart, funny, and intense. It’s the strangest combination, but it works for him.

He wraps his hand around the back of my neck. “I wanted to apologize for the other night. I’m not sorry I grabbed that guy because you’re mine and any man who tries to touch you will have to answer to me.” I think I just got a little wet. “What I am sorry for is scaring you. I saw the look on your face and I don’t want to ever see it again. I know I have a temper and lose my cool quickly, but I’d never fucking hurt you. I had a deal that went bad and I was pissed.”

Well, that totally makes sense. “I wasn’t scared, Gabe. Sure, I was freaked out, but more so because I didn’t want you thinking that I may have asked for that or that I provoked that guy’s attention. I thought maybe you were mad at me.”

He propels me forward until I’m against his chest and wraps his arms around me. I immediately feel better.

“Well, shit. I’m sorry, baby. I should’ve talked to you about the phone call.” He pulls back and tips my face up. “Can you forgive me?”

I nod my head and he crushes my lips against his. The kiss goes on for what feels like a long time. I savor the taste of him, the taste that has become my addiction. I pull back and look up at him.

“I’ve got to finish baking.” I grab his hand, pull him into my kitchen, and sit him on a stool next to the counter. I get a beer out of the refrigerator and hand it to Gabe.

“What are all of these for?” he asks as he looks at the table covered in cupcakes.

“On Saturday, the group home my mom lives in is having a skating party and I promised my mom I’d bring cupcakes. Do you want to come? You could meet my mom.” I expect him to politely decline, but I’m completely shocked when he smiles and says he’d love to.

Soon, he’s up helping me measure and mix the ingredients for the next batch of cupcakes. We work silently together and every now and then he kisses my neck or my forehead as we finish the last batch of cupcakes.

Gabe goes to the door to grab the food we had ordered earlier. He sits the food down on the table and helps me move the cupcakes to the counter. I join him at the table with two beers and grab my carton of chicken lo mein.

While we eat, we talk about his work, my brother, and Jill and Nico. It seems to me that Gabe knows there was or is something going on between his best friend and his sister. He tells me that there’s a guy who he thinks we should introduce to my brother. He’s the owner of one of the companies Gabe uses. The guy’s name is Ashton and he’s some ruthless businessman. I tell him that I don’t think it’d be a good idea since my brother has a tendency to sabotage his own relationships.

I stand up to pick up the food. He wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me down onto his lap. I wrap my arms around his neck, laughing against his neck as he tickles my sides.

“Stop, stop, stop.” I wheeze. He chuckles against my forehead. “You’re so bad.” I push away from him and stand up.

I feel his eyes on me as I move around the kitchen, getting out everything I need to make my frosting. I mix, whip, and taste until I get it just right. I dip my finger in the bowl and pull out my finger that’s now coated in the sugary concoction I just made. I saunter over to him, adding a slight sway to my hips. As I get close to him, his eyes darken. Quick like a snake, he grabs my arm. I straddle his lap and lick my lips when he grabs my wrist and brings my frosting coated finger to his lips.

I hold his eyes as he brings my finger to his mouth and sucks it. I moan as he hardens beneath me. His tongue swirls around my finger and I rock against him. I pull my finger from his lips. I cup his face in my hands and bring my lips to his. I want nothing more than to kiss him hard and fast, but I settle for slow and easy. He cups my ass and brings me down more firmly against his hard cock. His kisses taste sweet, like the frosting.

My body is on fire and my clit throbs. He pulls away from my mouth, shoves my t-shirt up, and pulls down the cups of my bra. He grabs at my nipple with his lips and I moan as my toes curl. This man plays my body like it’s the finest instrument. I pull and grip at his hair as he bites at my sensitive flesh.

I ride him harder as I feel myself getting closer to a mind-blowing orgasm. He brings his mouth back up to mine and resumes grabbing my hips and rocking me against his dick harder and faster. He slides one hand around the front of me until he reaches my throat. His lips don’t leave mine, even when he squeezes me just enough to make it hard to take a full breath.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but that causes me to come hard. I cry out into his mouth. I feel him moving, but I’m in such a daze that I don’t even realize what’s happening until my ass is planted on the table and he’s got a wad of frosting on his fingers.

I watch with half-lidded eyes as he smears a glob of frosting all over my pussy. At the first swipe of his tongue, I cry out. He lashes me with his tongue, getting every bit of frosting off of me, but he doesn’t let me come.

Instead, he takes the rest of the frosting and rubs it over both of my nipples until they’re covered in the sugary goodness. He licks around the edges first, teasing me relentlessly. I try to guide his head to my nipples, but he doesn’t let me lead him to my nipple. Instead, he licks and nips at the flesh between my breasts.

I’m so turned on that I’m begging and pleading with him to fuck me. His evil chuckle makes me want to punch his face until he finally sucks one of my nipples into his mouth. He licks, sucks, and bites at it until I’m squirming restlessly on top of the table. He switches sides and gives the other nipple the same treatment.

I’m delirious with lust and reach out, undoing his jeans and freeing his cock. I stroke it ever so slowly. His growl vibrates against my breasts. I grab a cupcake and rip the paper off. He takes it from me, crumbling it up all over my chest and stomach. He picks up the pieces with his tongue as he drags it over my skin. His teeth nips at my skin, his beard scratching me.

“Please fuck me already!” I cry out. We move fast. In seconds, he impales me on his cock and I groan. I hold on to the back of the chair as he drives his cock inside of me over and over. It’s like he’s trying to split me in half. Over the music that’s playing, our groans and grunts fill my apartment. His lips touch my neck and my whole body shivers.

“You ready to come for me, baby?” His voice is deeper and rougher.

“Yes,” I moan. He rubs my clit.

I ride him harder as I feel myself splinter apart. My orgasm hits me hard. He changes the angle and I cry out over and over again. Gabe picks up the pace and then he holds himself planted firmly inside of me as he groans against my sweaty skin. I catch my breath and look down. My shorts are torn to shreds.

I can’t help but giggle and kiss him right under his chin. He helps me up and off him and I quickly head back to my room to grab another pair of shorts. When I come back, Gabe is sitting at the table, looking completely relaxed and proud of himself. I kiss him quickly and head to the counter to finish frosting and decorating the cupcakes.

***

My eyes are closed, but I’m awake. Gabe’s fingers slide up and down my back. I crack open one eye and see it’s only seven in the morning. We didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night.

After I frosted all of the cupcakes, I took some of the frosting, painted my lips with it, and then dropped to my knees and took his cock all the way back in my throat. It was a heady experience to bring that large man to his knees. I swear, when he came down my throat, his groan sounded like a pained cry.

He threw me over his shoulder and carried me to my bedroom, where he fucked me doggy-style until I passed out from exhaustion. He then woke me at around five and I slowly rode him until I came and he followed.

Now I’m enjoying the gentle way his fingers trail up and down my body. I turn over and tuck my head under his chin. His lips touch the top of my head. “I don’t want to get up, but I’ve got a meeting today.” I wish he didn’t have to leave too.

“It’s okay. Will I see you later?” As soon as the words leave my mouth, I wish I could take them back. God, I sound so needy, which is not me at all. I peek up at him and expect to see a look of fear on his face, but instead he smiles.

“Yeah, baby, you’ll see me later.”

He kisses me and gets out of bed. I admire his naked behind as he walks out of my room. I hear the shower turn on and get up to join him. We don’t have sex, but we do wash each other with only kisses shared between us. After our shower, I sit on my bed, wrapped in my towel and watch Gabe get dressed.

“Wait,” I say. I get down in front of him and look at the scars covering his knee. I don’t even think. I just lean forward, placing my lips on the biggest scar that runs from above his knee to a few inches below it. He inhales sharply. I continue kissing each scar. I pull back and see that his cock is semi-hard.

“Oh, no you don’t, Jasmine. You keep looking at me like that and I’m never going to get any work done.” He hauls me up by my armpits. “I promise I’ll fuck you good tonight.” He quickly dresses and kisses me hard on the lips.

I watch him walk out the bedroom door and then hear the front door open and shut. I fall back on my bed and stare at the ceiling. I can’t help the stupid grin that splits my face. I’m falling so hard for this man and it scares the shit out of me. What if he hurts me? What if he breaks my heart and I never recover? I shake my head because I’m not going to let those thoughts ruin how I feel right now.

I get up and throw on a tank top and shorts. I go into the bathroom, blow dry my hair, and quickly braid it. I’m putting on a little makeup when Jordan comes busting in the bathroom. We’re going to need to have a talk about him just barging in. I would be mortified if my brother walked in and caught Gabe and me doing it.

“What’s up, sis? You’re glowing. Why?” He stares at me and I want to turn away. “It’s Gabe, isn’t it? You little slut!”
