A NOTE ON THE AUTHOR

A lifelong collector of quotations, David Pratt was born in England and studied at Oxford, Harvard, and the University of Toronto. He is a Professor Emeritus at Queen's University in Canada, where he taught from 1969 to 1997. He is the author of numerous academic books and papers, and his poetry and short stories have appeared in more than one hundred literary journals in the United States, Canada, Britain, and Australia.
