This list describes what makes you happy—and happiness is what “abundance” is all about. You can have all the money in the world, but if it doesn’t make you happy, what good is it?

Take a few minutes to define what prosperity and abundance mean to you today, right now, in this moment. Make a list of ten things that would make you feel prosperous if you had them. Now find an object that represents each entry on your list. Select these objects with care—you’re going to use them to work magick.

Let’s say that your wildest dream is getting your pilot’s license. Perhaps you haven’t yet accomplished this goal because you didn’t have enough money for lessons or an airplane. Any number of objects might represent your dream: a model airplane, a photograph of the type of plane you would like to fly, or a child’s plastic toy plane. The point is to choose something that immediately connects you to the feeling of flying.

When you’ve collected all ten items, put them in a place where you’ll see them often: your desk, a windowsill, or your altar. Each time you look at them, you’ll be reminded of your dreams of abundance and your intention to attract prosperity into your life.

Do you think you’re worthy of prosperity? Do you believe you are inherently valuable? Do you trust the universe to provide for you and always give you whatever you need? Or do you constantly worry about paying bills and fear poverty? Do you believe that money is the root of evil? Do you think you can’t be both rich and spiritual?

Prosperity consciousness
means you wholeheartedly believe you deserve to have whatever you desire. You know that your good fortune doesn’t take away from anyone else’s—the universe’s warehouse of goodies is infinite. You welcome wealth of all kinds into your life. You use money to enrich your life and the lives of others. If you don’t have a prosperity consciousness, you’ll need to develop it before you can successfully do spells for prosperity.

Each time you notice yourself saying or thinking something that undermines your prosperity consciousness, such as “I can’t afford that,” cross it out in your mind’s eye by drawing a line through it. Then rephrase the statement in a positive way.

We talked about affirmations in
Chapter 13
. Affirmations are good tools for reprogramming your ideas. Write down one or more affirmations related to prosperity and repeat them often. Say your affirmation(s) aloud at least a dozen times a day, until your subconscious gets the message. Here are a few suggestions:

• My life is rich with abundance of all kinds.
  
• I have everything I need and desire.
  
• All my bills are paid, and I have plenty of money to spare and share.
  
• I am happy, healthy, wealthy, and fulfilled in every way.
  

Try not to concern yourself with how you’re going to get the money. Just trust that opportunities will begin to present themselves to you if you continue to say the affirmation and believe in yourself.

For each of the spells in this chapter, I’ve noted the best time to perform the spell. In most cases, you’ll be more successful if you do spells for prosperity and abundance while the moon is waxing. The seeds you plant with your spell will grow along with the moon. As the moon’s light increases, so will your wealth.

Taurus is the zodiac sign of money, material goods, and physical resources. Therefore, an ideal time to do prosperity spells is when the moon and/or the sun is in Taurus. If your spell involves other people’s money, insurance, taxes, inheritance, or litigation, you might be better off casting a spell when the moon and/or sun is in Scorpio.

The best days of the week for doing prosperity magic are Thursday and Friday, the days ruled by Jupiter and Venus respectively. These planets encourage growth, abundance, and good luck.

Stop dreading those bills—that’s the key to this spell’s success. Instead, try looking at your bills in another light. Your creditors have provided goods or services up front, because they’re confident you’ll be able to pay. Now it’s time for you to believe in yourself.

• A piece of green paper or paper designed to resemble money
  
• A pen that writes gold or silver ink
  
• A black ribbon
  
• A stick of peppermint incense
  
• An incense burner
  

• Whenever you pay your bills
  

Gather together all bills that are due, plus your checkbook and a pen. Collect the listed ingredients. Cast a circle around the area where you will perform the spell. Cut the green paper into a rectangle the size and shape of paper currency and write $1,000,000 on it. Use the pen with gold or silver ink to write the following affirmation on the green paper: “I always have more than enough money to pay all my bills. My prosperity increases every day in every way.”

After you’ve finished writing checks to cover your bills, stack the receipts and place the piece of green paper on top of them. Tie up everything with the black ribbon. Fit the stick of incense into its burner and light it. Hold the envelopes containing your checks in the smoke for a few moments. Put aside any fears and imagine you have everything you need, when you need it. Open the circle. Repeat this spell every time you pay your bills.

When you least expect it, often at the most inopportune time, the dishwasher breaks or your car’s air conditioner dies. Here’s a spell to generate extra cash to cover those emergency expenses.

• A ballpoint pen
  
• Three candles, one green, one gold, and one silver
  
• Three candleholders
  
• Enough coins (any denomination) to form a circle around all three candles
  
• Matches or a lighter
  

• Preferably during the waxing moon, but in an emergency you can do this spell as necessary
  

Collect the ingredients needed for this spell. Cast a circle around the area where you will do your spell. Using the ballpoint pen, carve the word “money” on the green candle. Inscribe the gold candle with the word “abundance” and write “now” on the silver candle. Set the candles on your altar or another place where they can burn safely. Position them so they form a triangle, with the green and gold candles at the base and the silver one at the apex of the triangle.

Next, with the coins make a circle around the candles. Be sure all the coins are face up and that each coin touches those on either side of it. Light the candles and call upon your favorite spiritual helper—a guardian angel, totem animal, or other deity—and ask for assistance in acquiring the money you need.

Allow the candles to burn down completely, but don’t leave the burning candles unattended. If you must leave the circle before the candles finish burning, extinguish them and light them again later to continue the spell. When the candles have burned completely, open the circle and thank the deity for helping you.

This versatile magick potion has many possible applications. Rub it on candles to increase their power. Dab it on talismans. Anoint gemstones, crystals, or magick tools with it. Rub a little on your body. However you use it, this money oil helps you attract all forms of abundance.

• A green glass bottle with a lid or stopper
  
• A small piece of tiger’s eye or aventurine
  
• 4 ounces of olive, almond, or grape seed oil
  
• A few drops of peppermint essential oil
  
• Gold or silver glitter
  

• During the waxing moon, preferably on Thursday
  

Wash the bottle and gemstone with mild soap and water, then dry them. Gather all the listed ingredients. Begin by casting a circle around the area where you will do your spell. Pour the olive, almond, or grape seed oil into the bottle. Add the peppermint essential oil and glitter. Drop the tiger’s eye or aventurine in the mixture, then put the lid or stopper on the bottle and shake three times to charge the potion.

Open the circle and apply your Magick Money Oil in whatever manner you choose. This magick oil can be incorporated into many of the spells in this chapter.

Whether you’ve got your eye on a pair of designer shoes, a new computer, or a sports car, this spell helps you obtain whatever your heart desires. You can magickally manifest big things as easily as little ones. The only limits are in your own mind.

• A clear quartz crystal or an abundance crystal (one that contains a greenish mineral called chlorite)
  
• A picture or other likeness of the object you’ve “gotta have”
  
• Essential oil of cedar (or the money oil from the previous spell)
  

• During the waxing moon, preferably on Thursday
  

Collect the ingredients needed for this spell. Wash the crystal in mild soap and water. Cast a circle around the area where you will do your spell. Hold the crystal in your left hand while you gaze at the picture of the item you’ve “gotta have” and imagine yourself already owning it. Really get your feelings and senses involved in the visualization—wearing the shoes, driving the car. The more vivid you can make the experience the better.

When your mind starts to drift, dab four dots of essential oil on the picture, one at each corner. Let the scent strengthen your intention to acquire the object you desire. When you feel confident that you’ll receive your heart’s desire, open the circle. Place the picture on your altar, desk, or another place where you’ll see it often. Set the crystal on top of the picture to increase the power of your spell. Look at the picture regularly, reaffirming your intention, until the object materializes.

The cauldron symbolizes abundance. In spells, it holds your intention along with whatever ingredients you use in your spells for a period of time, to let the spell brew. This is the easiest possible money spell you can do with your cauldron, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it isn’t powerful!

Put one penny in your cauldron every day. As you do, say aloud, “I invest in my financial well-being. Every day brings greater abundance to me.” When the cauldron is full, take the pennies to your bank or donate them to a charity of your choice.

The cauldron represents creativity and fertility; cedar is associated with wealth. Combine the two with the action of fire, and you’ve got a potent spell.

• A large iron cauldron (or a cooking pot if you don’t have a cauldron)
  
• Cedar wood chips, sticks, or shakes
  
• The five of pentacles from a tarot deck you don’t use for readings
  
• A shovel or trowel
  

• During the waning moon
  

Place the cauldron in a spot where it’s safe to build a fire. Cast a circle around the area where you’ll do your spell. Put the cedar inside the cauldron. Set fire to the wood, and when you have a small blaze going, drop the tarot card into the flames. The five of pentacles signifies debt and poverty; as the card burns, envision your debts disappearing as well. Let the fire burn down completely, then collect the ashes. Open the circle. On the next new moon, bury the ashes someplace far away from your home.

Instead of hunting for a pirate’s hidden chest of gold doubloons, in this spell you symbolically stash treasure in order to “prime the pump” so greater riches can flow to you.

• A small mirror
  
• A tin box with a lid
  
• Nine coins (any denomination)
  
• A magnet
  
• A shovel
  

• During the waxing moon, preferably on a Thursday
  

Gather all the listed ingredients. Begin by casting a circle around the area where you will do your spell. Place the mirror in the bottom of the tin box, with the reflective side up. Lay the coins, one at a time, on top of the mirror while you envision each one multiplying. Attach the magnet to the inside of the box (on the lid or a side) and visualize it attracting an unlimited number of coins to you. Put the lid on the box and open the circle.

Take your “treasure chest” and the shovel outside and dig a hole beneath a large tree. Bury the box in the ground near the tree’s roots. When you’ve finished, say this incantation aloud:

“By the luck of three times three

This spell now brings great wealth to me.

The magnet draws prosperity.

The mirror doubles all it sees.

My fortune grows as does this tree

And I shall ever blessed be.”

Find a coin minted in the year of your birth (or in a year that has special significance for you). It can be any denomination—even a coin from another country if that country has positive associations for you. Say the following incantation aloud to give the coin its magickal power:
