"You bastard Demovic, you know this is
bullshit." Frank screamed before he was pushed into the back of the
car.

Harrison nodded to the officer in charge.
"We'll see you back at the station to give you our statements. On
behalf of the Demovic family and the Demovic Corporation I'd like
to thank you officer. It's a relief to have this distressing
episode finally behind us."

He squeezed Bella's hand.

"Officer, can I have just a word with my
father before you take him away?"

"Certainly Ms. Wilson. Just follow me."

Bella watched the officer in front of her as
though her were a figure in a dream, her entire world slipping into
slow motion. It was only ten steps to where her father sat bound
and caged in the back of the patrol vehicle but they could have
been ten thousand. Frank had always been there throughout her
childhood and adolescence, threatening, menacing, casting a shadow
over her life that stretched out into the present day and right up
until this surreal moment of victory.

Could she even call it a victory?

A thousand memories crowded up behind her;
every harsh word, every ruined family event, every blow he had
rained down upon her helpless mother.

She looked at the twisted face shouting at
her behind the glass. In her mind she saw his body go down in front
of her again, felt the terror and the satisfaction of finally
having cut him down. Then she remembered the horror as she went to
prison while her abusing father walked free.

Frank's face was purple with apoplectic rage,
his head bashing against the patrol car door.

The officer turned to face her.

"Are you sure you want to do this ma'am? With
all due respect, your father ain't the nicest guy in the world. His
reputation as a dirty cop didn't earn him a lot friends on the
force and quite frankly, looking at him now…" he turned his head to
the police car rocking under the force of the old man's powerless
anger, "I think I can see why."

Bella looked at him for a moment. This was
his true face for the whole world to see; not the down to earth guy
who was so good at buddying up to other cops or the violent bully
who could intimidate men far larger than him when he needed to.

"I'm sure." She said quietly. The officer
gave the signal to his partner and the window slowly rolled down.
Frank was surprised and exhausted enough from his rage that he went
momentarily quiet, laboring to take in breath.

"How did you find me?" he finally managed,
gasping for oxygen.

Bella took a step closer and reached out her
hand. The officer put his arm out to caution her.

"Be careful ma'am. There's no knowing what
he's likely to do."

"Fuck off you prick." Frank snarled. "She's
my daughter."

Bella looked at the officer.

"It's okay. I need to do this." The cop
nodded and stepped aside. Frank's eyes bulged as his daughter
stepped closer, the veins in his forehead protruding
grotesquely.

Bella extended her hand towards him, slid her
fingers under his collar and gripped it, slowly pulling him towards
her.

"What are you doing Bella?"

She let him go and he fell back to the
seat.

"Just showing you Daddy. What a sucker you've
been."

She held up a tiny object between her thumb
and forefinger.

"It's a tracking device. One of Harrison's
companies makes them. We've been listening to you and following you
since the gas station. So have the police."

Frank began to go purple with rage again, but
before he could unleash another volley of abuse Bella nodded to the
officer and the window rolled back up. All of his vituperation went
into the cold glass.

Bella watched him rage and felt no fear
anymore. She was finally free.

"What would you like us to do with her?" The
officer asked, indicating her mother. The old woman looked lost and
alone. Bella so desperately wanted to help her, wanted her to be
free of this evil man as well, but she realized also that she
didn’t need Mabel anymore. That feeling had died at the gas
station. She had survived without her mother when she was most
desperate for her support and she would do it again. Everything was
different now; she herself was needed as another person's mother
and that role would supplant all others.

Mabel walked hesitatingly towards her,
trembling. When she was close enough, Bella extended a hand but the
old lady didn’t take it, instead she walked to the far side of the
police car and slowly got in next to her husband leaving Bella to
stare down at the asphalt into an abyss of hollow longing and
strange, cold loss.

The vast pair of arms that surrounded her
from out of nowhere drew her back up again.

"I'm so proud of you Bella. So proud." Her
face pressed against Harrison's broad chest and she allowed herself
to cry, saying goodbye to her old family forever, accepting the
embrace of her new one--her real family. "It's okay to cry Bella."
His voice was pure, deep, all encompassing love. "But after today
you won't need to cry anymore. Come on, your family needs you. It's
time to go home."

Chapter Seven

The helicopter flight from Maryland back to New York
took nearly two hours but it was worth it. The excitement of flying
by chopper for the first time had been lost on Bella in the anxiety
and heat of pursuing her criminal parents, but now with her father
in custody, the sun setting and streetlights coming on all over the
East Coast the feeling of calm was like nothing she had ever
experienced before. Every mile they put behind them wiped years of
fear, pain and resentment away. Her new life was literally
unfolding before her eyes as the spectacular view of Manhattan by
night loomed up ahead, passed underneath them and then receded into
the background.

"Where are we headed?" Bella asked. They were
the first words she had spoken for the entire flight, preferring
instead just to hold Harrison's hand in silence as he piloted them
through the night.

"Home." He said.

She looked out and saw the outline of Long
Island skimming along below them. She had been to his pent house
apartment in Manhattan and to the Demovic family home in upstate
New York where she had been housed and looked after on their
property. This destination was new to her.

"I have a house on Long Island." He said
simply. "Just for me. Just for us. We can debrief the rest of the
family tomorrow, but tonight is just for you and me."

She squeezed his hand and remained silent for
the rest of the journey which didn't take long. In ten minutes they
had landed and when the helicopter blades had slowed to a stop the
head of staff arrived to welcome them home.

"Good evening Ms. Wilson." He said as he
assisted her in stepping to the ground. "Everything is ready Sir."
Harrison nodded silently in response.

The magnificent home was wonderfully lit up
in the summer evening and there was a lavishly tasteful buffet
awaiting them on the stone terrace outside with flames rising from
an outdoor fire.

A female assistant escorted Bella to
apartments where she was able to freshen up. When she was ready she
put on the thick white bathrobe that had been laid out for her and
went to rejoin Harrison on the terrace. He was already waiting for
her, seated on the ground gazing at the fire wearing only a
bathrobe that matched her own. Despite the opulent surroundings he
looked as simple and denuded of his multi-billionaire status as a
child. The sight was oddly touching for Bella. She approached him
with care, as though the moment were fragile and might break at the
slightest touch.

When he turned to look at her his face
betrayed nothing but his eyes in the firelight flashed with awe,
fear, courage, wonder.

"Bella…" he said, "I've never seen you look
so… so simple, so beautiful."

Whatever the moment was, the feeling was
mutual and sent a thrill of excitement through her body swaddled in
the soft fabric of her robe. It was the thrill of mutual
understanding, the excitement of finding a spirit close to your own
in a universe of vast multiplicity and infinite distance.

He extended his hand to her and she accepted,
sitting close by his side, molding herself to him as his powerful
arm drew her in. His lips pressed against hers and the rampant fire
of desire coursed through their strong young bodies once again.

But there was something else to be done
before they could abandon themselves to love making one again; one
final liberating act with which to start a new life. It was time to
exchange truth for truth and secret for secret. No more lies, no
more excuses, no more fear.

"Tell me what you did." Bella whispered.
"Don’t make me wait to see it on the cover of a magazine. Whatever
it is, I need to hear it from you."

She felt his body tense up by her side. When
he began to speak he directed his gaze straight down at the
ground.

"I spent one year in a juvenile facility. My
sixteenth year to be precise."

Bella's heart was pounding. If she had ever
loved anyone in her life she loved this man cleaving close beside
her now, but still she was terrified about what he would say next.
She prayed it would be something she could accept.

"It was my father. He laid a hand on my
mother. I couldn't bear to see it." Bella hugged herself even
tighter to him.

"I warned him to stop but he wouldn’t. He
turned away from me to punch her again but he never got the chance.
I pounded him so hard he lost consciousness. I broke his jaw, put
him in hospital. He never spoke clearly again for the rest of his
life. Then when he returned into our lives I accepted him when I
should have turned away. I should have walked out on Demovic and
started my own life, but I didn't. For that I'll never forgive
myself."

Bella said nothing but held him close. Her
heart was near to breaking.

"That's it Bella." He said after a deep
breath. "That's my secret. I broke my own father's jaw and the
world judged me for it, put me in prison to punish me for defending
my own mother. Then he returned to take over and ruin the company
that I created with my brothers and there was nothing I could do
about it. What kind of justice is that?"

He was still looking down at the ground but
Bella put her hand to his rugged chin, rough with his nine o'clock
shadow, and turned it to her own.

"It's twisted justice Harrison. Your father
deserved what you gave to him ten times over. If the world doesn’t
understand that then the world is wrong."

"Is it?" He asked. "Then why did the world
lock me up for a year with drug dealers, murderers, abusers and
thieves? Why did a judge who studied law her whole life decide that
the streets would be a safer place without me on them?"

"I don’t know about that Harrison, but let me
ask you one thing; if the same thing were to happen again, would
you break his jaw a second time?"

He looked at her with intense, grim
determination carved into his face.

"Damn right I would."

Her heart was racing again.

"So would I." She whispered.

He pressed his lips to hers and then fell to
her neck, devouring her. She moved back under the onslaught and in
seconds was down on the ground, his hands slipping the robe off her
shoulders and leaving her exposed in the flickering light of the
fire.

"I've never wanted you so much." He growled.
She lay before him, feeling more open to him now than she could
never have imagined. She raised her foot between his legs, found
the softness of his balls and then continued up to the rigid
hardness of his cock.

"Fuck me." She commanded him.

He shrugged off his bathroom revealing his
massively engorged member, erect and ready to invade her. Taking
her ankles in his hands his separated her legs wide apart and then
began his approach causing her to twitch and squirm in
anticipation. All secrecy was left behind now, they were equals,
soul-mates and the courage of their honesty had put them beyond the
grasping clutches of the world. His cock teased its way along her
inner thigh making her squirm with desire and when the tip pressed
against the moist door of her pussy they both shuddered in
response.

"God, you're so wet." He said.

"Fuck me." She repeated. "Don't play with me.
I can't wait any longer."

Her scream pierced the night as the head of
his manhood forged into her. He had never felt so huge. Despite
their earlier love making she was suddenly anxious she might not be
able to accommodate him. It was as if he had been holding back
before but now he intended to give her everything and more.

She felt him advance further, maybe it was
just an inch or maybe it was ten, she couldn't tell, but the fire
that ran through her was pure adrenaline and her stretched channel
struggled to clamp harder around his girth. He was inexorable,
unstoppable and continued his march forwards until she was
screaming out again into the night.

"Don't stop." She screamed. "Take me. I'm
yours. All fucking yours."

"I know." He said, close by her ear, his
heavy breath exciting her even more. "You've always been mine."

His rock hard abdomen pressed against her
quivering feminine softness and squeezed her clit and g-spot
against his thrusting cock.

"Oh my God." She felt as though she were
exploding, like fireworks filling the night sky, but he showed no
intention of stopping. Her man had become incoherent, uttering half
words, groans and growls of primitive satisfaction and Bella had
never felt so full, so complete, so overcome with total
fulfillment. She bit down hard onto his shoulder and dug her nails
into his back while his hands squeezed hard on her hips to pull her
in closer to him. The firm action deepened his thrusts and made him
even more desperate to plough further inside her.
