“So…” Ebony stated to the silence.

“Her name is Mya Daniels. She is a nurse at the children’s hospital. The pregnancy was the result of a
“protection malfunction”
during a one-night stand after my birthday party. I just found out while I was visiting a fan at the hospital. She showed me a message where she tried to contact me while I was away but I didn’t get that message. It was during the time my phone was broken. The return message said something like
handle it
so she thought I wanted nothing to do with her or the baby. I never sent the message but she showed it to me clear as day.”

“Didn’t Davey have your phone when it was broken?” Thomas asked.

“Yeah but he just took it to have everything backed up and added to the new phone.”

“That you know of.”

“Come on now what would he benefit from replying to my text messages. He had no way of knowing what we needed to discuss.”

“I don’t know honestly. What about
Naomi? Would she have had access to your phone?”

“Alright enough of the suspicions of who tried to intervene, now you know but are you sure it’s yours? Could she have possibly been with someone else? Could this be a ploy to exploit you for money?” Barry asked.

“She doesn’t want anything from me. Actually she was prepared to be a single parent after the message.”

“I want to meet her officially.” Sheila cut in.

“Mom…”

“Nope, from what I can tell I like her honestly. I like her aura.”

“But she is waltzing around town with Damon. Who’s to say she isn’t a celeb hopper?” Barron voiced his concerns to his family.

“If that’s the case then why try and pin this kid on you. Damon has just as much money.” Ebony pointed out.

“Plus the way he was looking at you. He had the look of a protective big brother that has no romantic feelings whatsoever about her.”

“Only another big brother can see that look.” Sheila smirked.

“Maybe…”

“Just have a civilized conversation with her. You never know what will happen when you just open up and
let things flow naturally.” Sheila added. Barron knew if there was one person who could rest his uneasy spirit it was his mother. Now he just had to push his jealousy down to attempt at having an adult conversation without yelling.

“Hello?” Mya answered on the third ring. She stared at the phone the first two contemplating whether or not she should answer.

“Are you home?”

“Yes.”

“Are you alone?” Mya rolled her eyes to the sky.

“Yes.”

“Can I come over?”

“…”

“Or…” Mya cut him off before he could finish withdrawing his original offer.

“No it’s fine. Come over.”

“I’m on my way.”

“Okay.”

Five minutes later, Mya’s doorbell was ringing. He waited patiently for her to open the door fully ready to get to the bottom of their dilemma and figure out what was next for them. Once she opened
the door his voice got caught in his throat.

Standing barefoot in nothing but her leggings from earlier and a tank top, Mya was comfortable yet ready to get this confrontation over with. Giving him an appraisal from head to toe in his simple 501’s, t-shirt, and air max. Finally reaching his face again she saw he was amused at her shameless attraction. He chuckled and she frowned.

“It’s okay to be attracted to your baby’s daddy.”

“Whatever. It’s the hormones.”

“The hormones huh?” He questioned with a smirk.

“Yes the pregnancy hormones that have blood pooling up in certain areas for no dang reason at all. They are all out of whack. I’m always hor… I mean hungry.” She corrected when they sat down on the sofa opposite of each other.

“Sure hor-ngry!” He over exaggerated the word to replicate how she said it. “What are you hungry for? I may be able to appease your appetite.”

“So you can dip out before I wake up again? No thank you.”

“I deserve that.”

“Yeah you do.”

“Look Mya, what happened
during our one night together will keep us together for the rest of our lives.”

“Eighteen to nineteen years.”

“No, the rest of our lives on earth. Look I’m not going to dip out because the kid grows up or when they become of age. They graduate high school, then college, get married, have their first baby, the list could literally go on forever. We are always going to have some type of dealings with each other.”

“True didn’t think about it like that.”

“Mya I’m attracted to you. Would it have been nice if we were married or at least in a committed relationship before this happened? Hell yeah, mainly because that’s what type of environment I was raised in. As of right now we have to play the hand we were dealt. To be honest I would much rather us living under the same roof during your pregnancy.”

“Not going to happen. I have my own place.”

“Look I just want to experience as much of this pregnancy as possible. I have already missed damn near four months of it. You gotta at least meet me half way.” He pleaded.

“Then you move in with me until the baby is born.”

“My place is bigger.”

“We will always have some type of issue over where everything will have to be. Your place or my place.”

“Or we can co-exist.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“We will be roommates raising our child together.”

“Boy you’re crazy. That would never work.”

“Why is that? How would you know if you never tried?”

“First and foremost we both have our own individual lives.”

“So what?”

“Second…”

“Screw second, just try it throughout the pregnancy. If it doesn’t work out then we can call it quits. Deal?”

“You didn’t let me finish.”

“It’s a trial run. Deal?”

“You’re not being fair.”

“Neither are you.”

“Can I just think about it?”

“Okay that will work. Just let me know as soon as you know.”

“Okay.”

Chapter six

Mya stayed true to her word about thinking about moving in with Barron but honestly she just didn’t think it was a good idea. He had been in a relationship last she
had seen on entertainment news with the model chick but he was hell bent on them living together. What kind of mess was that? How on earth would something like that work? Would they try and get rid of her eventually? She would be the outcast like a surrogate mother.

No way in hell would she ever think she would be in a situation where she would be having a baby with someone who she didn’t see herself spending the rest of her life with. True she fancied him, she craved his touch, the sound of his voice, the sensual caress of his member, and maybe deep down she wouldn’t mind being in a relationship with him. He seemed like a stand up type of guy and valued family. Unfortunately that was the one thing that never came out of his mouth. He never said he wanted her in the picture he just wanted to be there for his baby.

“What’s got your face all screwed up?”

“Just thinking.”

“So what are you two going to do?”

“I don’t know. He asked me to move in with him but I don’t think that’s what I want to do. I mean, I kind of want to but I don’t. I know that makes no sense whatsoever. But…”

“Let me ask you this. How do you feel about him?”

“I like him.”

“Is that it? You like him?”

“Yeah I don’t know anything else about him to feel anything else.”

“Well why don’t you date him?”

“What if he doesn’t want to date me?”

“Then screw him.”

“I think he’s already dating someone though.”

“Nah, I checked that out. He is single.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yep.”

“Maybe. Thanks Damon. You know I love you right.”

“I love you too. Even if you did keep a big ass secret from me.” The two of them laughed.

As if he read her mind Barron called her up and asked her out to lunch. It had been a week since he last saw her but texted on a regular. They made plans to go to lunch and hang out on Saturday. Mya decided on a pair of fitted, ripped denim crop pants, a shear black maternity shirt with
a black shell underneath, and black wedges. Her hair was straightened with a part down the middle hanging around her shoulders. Being pregnant made her feel super pretty and less self-conscience about her weight, enjoying her protruding stomach. Mya knew he was going to ask about them moving in together but she still didn’t have an answer for him.

“Hey, you look nice.”

“Hey. Thanks you too.” Mya was swooning at how sexy he looked in some dark denim jeans, gray V-neck tee, and Jordan’s on his feet. His hair looked freshly cut with his waves on point and his cologne made her panties wet.

“You okay?”

“Yeah I’m cool. You ready?”

“Yeah let’s go.”

Barron thought it would be nice to grab lunch and just play it by ear on what they were going to do next. Conversation over lunch was nice, they felt like they were old friends catching up. Several female fans came to the table to get autographs and some had the nerve to give Mya an envious eye. She brushed it off as wishful thinking while he apologized with his eyes for the rude gestures she was receiving. Finally they were leaving not paying too much attention to their surroundings and ran smack dab into the paparazzi.

Those dirt hungry photographers
were snapping all sorts of pictures while asking some very personal questions. The main questions that caught their attention was ‘is this your new girlfriend? Is that your baby?’ Both Barron and Mya stopped dead in their tracks at the questions with Mya putting a protective hand over her stomach. Obviously neither of them were thinking about how the press would react seeing them together. That the assumptions would form around them having a baby and turning that into them being in a relationship.

“Sorry about that.” Barron apologized for the slew of photographers.

“It’s cool. I should be used to it.”

“How so?”

“Every once in a while I would get caught up with Damon.”

“Damon huh?”

“We’re just friends.”

“I hear you.”

“Why am I even explaining myself to you anyway?”

“You are absolutely right. It’s not like we are together.”

“Right.” Mya wouldn’t dare admit it stung a little to think that she wouldn’t mind being with him on that level. She didn’t remember when she came to that conclusion but she had to be honest with herself if no one else, there seemed to be some sort of feelings towards him. Deep down she is hoping that it’s just the hormones stemming from the pregnancy but she knew that wasn’t the entire truth.

“Have you decided on what you want to do?”

“Unfortunately not.”

“It’s not that hard Mya.”

“Yes it is Barron.”

“I don’t want to argue with you.”

“Same here.”

“On another note. My mom wants to meet you.”

“Really?”

“Yep. They went on a cruise for two weeks but she wants to meet you when they come back.”

“You told me that you have already confided in them that I’m pregnant. How did they take the news?”

“They took it cooler than what I thought they would. Have you told your family?”

“Yes. And they didn’t disown me.” Mya laughed to herself because she surely thought they were going to hit the roof. “They were just pressing me to know who I was pregnant by. I wouldn’t divulge that information. Not that I don’t trust my family it’s just that I don’t want to make a spectacle about this pregnancy.”

“I understand. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you in the beginning.”

“It’s okay.”

With that being out of the way, they went to a carnival that was in town. They rode rides, played some games, and Mya ate several different kinds of food. Barron teased her about her selections, she pouted and he apologized. ‘God forbid, if they had a little girl cause she would milk him dry,’ he couldn’t help but to think to himself. Suddenly out of nowhere it started to pour down raining. The skies opened up with no warning pouring buckets and buckets of water down on their heads. Not wanting to risk a slip in her wedges and injuring her pregnant belly they walked to the parking lot leaving them soaked to the bone. Since they were closer to Barron’s house that’s where he drove them too.

Parking in his spot in the garage, Barron ushered Mya to the master bedroom. Mya’s jaw dropped at how gorgeous his bedroom was and marveled at how huge it was. There was a huge customized king size bed large enough for three of him with a huge padded headboard. The sitting area housed an entertainment center with all the top of the line electronics, suede couch, and love seat. Walking barefoot on his carpet was like walking on a cloud it was so soft and plush. While Mya was admiring her surroundings, Barron went into his closet to grab something dry for her to wear. He grabbed one of his button up shirts, a pair of boxers, and some socks for her to change into. Mya took the clothes to the joined bathroom and she was shocked speechless yet again. This was her dream home in so many words. The en suite was perfect with double sinks, Jacuzzi tub, and huge walk-in shower.
