Melody looked into his eyes and she knew there was something deep within her that was making him nervous. His stare began to glow and the tug on her insides was automatic. She felt her gaze grow big at just how powerful he was. He was almost every bit the master Vex was, he’d just done a hell of a job hiding it.

A
tint covered her vision and she knew the demon had surfaced. Trace looked away the moment the darkness surged though her.

“Done.”

“Good job.” Vex rubbed lube over the opening of her pussy and ass. A deep moan poured from her mouth. Stinging erupted on her ass at the slap of Vex’s hand. “Lift a little, doll.”

Melody thrived against the pain. She leaned forward against Trace and Vex’s fingers slid deep, only to immediately withdraw.

“You’re so fucking ready for us,” Vex said, molding himself against her back.

Trace’s cock slid inside of her, and she kissed him as he inched his way in
side. The thickness against the opening of her ass made her tense. She’d never done anal before, and she wasn’t sure what to expect.

“Relax, Melody.” Vex rubbed his cheek against hers. The
order had her whole body reacting to his command. Her head settled in Trace’s neck and she sucked his skin lightly into her mouth. He pushed deeper into her pussy, just as Vex eased a good two inches into her ass. “Good girl.” Her master leaned forward and kissed Trace. His movement had him sliding even deeper. The friction between both of their cocks going into her at different rhythms was an overwhelming ecstasy she’d never known before. Now she almost knew how Trace felt as he fucked her and Vex fucked him.

A cry came from her mouth as Vex withdrew and entered her fully. The orgasm that shook her body was automatic and hit her hard.

“That’s right, doll. Cum all over Trace’s cock. I’m going to suck all your sweet juices from it once we’re finished. And you know what? You’re going to help me.” Vex pushed into her faster and Trace immediately pulled her mouth to his.

His eyes didn’t break from hers the whole time he kissed her. He held her locked with his stare, and she was surprised given how he didn’t want to keep contact, before.

At the intimacy, something began to swirl in Melody’s chest. It was that part that she’d been repressing. The more she felt love for the two men giving her pleasure, the more it grew. Fear started to take over, but the sensations from Vex and Trace were throwing her off, making it impossible to rein the feeling back in.

“Keep looking at me,” Trace whispered. “Don’t you dare let your mind take you over
…I want you in this moment every second.” His hand gripped into her hip and she continued to move slowly.

Vex kept a steady pace while Trace let her go at her own speed. They both were so thick inside of her. Need was triggered at their swelling. She continued to stare into Trace’s eyes, feeling the hammering pound against her chest. What was going to happen? She could feel the power building into a burning inferno.

Vex increased his speed and he was suddenly pounding against her. Melody screamed against the orgasm that was right on the brink of exploding. Trace held under her arm and lifted her. His cock joined Vex in the hard thrusts. Just as spasms took them over, the fire shot through her body. An explosion of energy spanned out to cover her mates like a clear bubble. She couldn’t see it, but she could feel them in the invisible space.

Like the pop of a balloon, the rubber band effect snapped their energy into her body with such force that it froze up her lungs. Melody gasped for air, and noticed their bodies were just finishing, cumming. They looked perfectly normal, given the fact that sweat was covering their bodies and they were breathing hard.

Whatever had just happened, they weren’t even aware of it. Should she say anything?

Vex withdrew from her ass and picked up her body, cradling it. As he took her into the restroom, she went over her options. Nothing seemed different. Everyone was fine. For now, she’d be quiet. But that could never happen again. Ever.

Chapter Eleven

“Do you know how much territory Vex covers?” Leon looked over the vast landscape stretched out before them. The fields were long harvested. Brown stretched for as far as the eye could see. Against the bleak land stood amazing shades of pink and orange from the setting sun. The sight sucked him in and Harvey’s words were barely heard.

“It’s only been a week. We will find them.”

“Yeah,” Leon mumbled.

He couldn’t get Melody out of his head. Where was she? Were she and her mate
s having the fucking time of their lives while he was out here trying to hunt her down? And he would. Make no mistake about that. It would just take time. But each day he could feel himself getting angrier.

He was tired of all this trying to be pure and not getting anything out of it. What he wanted was Melody. She made him good. At least he could get pleasure from that. But what he needed was Vex
and Trace out of the picture. If they joined up with Helix, it was going to be that much harder for him to get to Melody, not to mention the worry his people would have to go through.

And it wouldn’t be just them as any every
day enemy. It’d be one that had powers capable of taking out a hell of a lot of his people if the time ever came.

“There’s a town up ahead. Let’s stop and get a room. It’s been a long day.” Harvey took a drink of his soda. The action pulled Leon from his thoughts.

“Where are we, anyway?”

“Gonzales. We’ve basically made a big loop. I figured they’d go south. That’s why we headed down to Laredo this morning.” Harvey shook his head. “But once we were there I knew they had to be more north. Now that we’re about two hours to the territorial line, I say we rest here tonight and we’ll pick up tomorrow.”

Leon yawned. They’d been driving since before sunrise. Now that it was sunset, he was ready to crash. The moment his stomach was full, he was going to fall asleep hard, and hopefully dream of Melody again.

The small town came into view. There was nothing more than a convenience store on the corner, but as Harvey took a right, he saw more of the town come into view. As he pulled into the first decent motel they crossed, he groaned and ran inside. Leon peered to the back of the SUV at the sleeping immortals traveling with them. If he could have slept in a car, he would have jumped at the opportunity. Unfortunately, sleep and the vibrations of the road didn’t
sit well with him.

Leon opened the door and stepped out to stretch his legs. The tight muscles ached with every step he took. Lights from the surrounding business
es were glowing in the distance and he took in the sight. He’d never been up this way before. It looked like a somewhat nice little town from what he could see. Maybe he and Melody could stay here for a while. He mindlessly shook his head. It wasn’t anywhere near far enough.

A car pulled in across the street and he glanced at it before returning to his search for food places they might be able to walk to. Something itched at the back of his mind and Leon turned back to the dark Cadillac sedan. The back windows appeared completely blacked out from his view, but the passenger window was rolled down.

He crouched and met the face of a man he’d only seen once, in Melody’s picture. And although at least a decade had passed, the man looked every bit as young then as he did now. The glare Helix was giving him made the hair on his arms stand on end. The raw power the eternal had could easily be felt all the way across the road, and for any being, that was just downright amazing. He almost felt like he was looking into the devil’s face, himself.

A smile slowly came to the man’s lips.

“What in the blue blazes are you doing?” Harvey’s voice made him jump. He turned to look at the immortal. His finger pointed in the direction of their biggest enemy, but by the time he looked back, Helix was gone.

Leon couldn’t bring his mouth to close. “I…ah.” He swallowed hard. “I.”

“Spit it out!” Harvey walked around to stand in his path. Leon looked around him to the empty spot where the Cadillac had been parked.

“Helix. I saw him. He was right fucking there.”

“Hey, now. Watch your mouth.”

Leon looked at him
, incredulous. “Did you not hear me? I said Helix was just sitting there across the road in a black car. He looked right at me and smiled. Smiled!” Leon’s whole body was shaking. “We’re in over our heads. He knows we’re up to something. I could feel him threatening us to leave, all the way from over here.”

Harvey looked across the street. “He is the reason we can’t leave.” The key card was slapped into Leon’s hand. “You’re in
Room 207 with me.”

Leon extended his hand. “Nope, I’m out of here. I’ll keep helping you look for her, but there’s no w
ay I’m spending the night in this town.” If he did stay he’d never find his woman.

The narrowing of Harvey’s eyes told him the guy was angry, but he didn’t care. Staying was suicide. If Leon was
anything, it wasn’t stupid. He knew how strong he was, and his power wasn’t comparable to the man he saw challenging him from across the street.

“How do you expect to leave? I have the only car
, and I’m staying.”

Leon shrugged. “I’ll take a cab. I’ll fucking walk. My ass is out of here.”

“You know, for someone who wants his wings back, you sure don’t seem to be making an effort to stay holy. The easiness with which those disrespectful words flow from your tongue is probably the simplest thing you can control, and yet you let the filth pour from you like an opened faucet.”

Guilt ate
at him, but not anywhere near as much as it would have weeks ago. Leon sighed. “I’m sorry, but you have no idea what you’re up against. When was the last time you saw Helix, Harvey?”

“It’s been a
while.”

Leon pushed the card into his hand and made him take it. “You may be strong, but if you stay, you’ll die. I promise you. This is his territory. He made that clear to me. Now that I know, and you know, we should go. We’re asking for
a fight if we stay.”

“Eternals don’t have territory
. They don’t belong in our world.” Harvey opened the back door. “Wake up. We’re here.” The sound of the slam easily marked how angry he was.

“Too much pride is a sin too, you know?” Leon knew he was only going to make the guy angrier, but if it
were enough to get Harvey to leave, it’d save him trouble in the long run. “Let’s go, Harvey.”

Deep blue eyes snapped in his direction. “I’m staying. End of discussion.”

Leon nodded. “Nice knowing you.” He headed for the front desk. The air conditioner felt good against the heat from outside. Even though the sun was setting it was still humid. “Hi, can you call me a cab?”

The lady smiled and picked up the phone. As he sat in a chair and waited, Leon wasn’t sure what he was going to do. Harvey was already unloading and going inside. He doubted the immortal would be
looking for him come first thing, tomorrow morning. It was probably best if he went home, but where was that? Melody’s home had been the only place he’d felt at ease. Maybe he’d just crash at her place and get lucky. He doubted it, but at least he knew it was a roof over his head where he’d be most comfortable. And, if she did happen to come back, he’d be waiting.

***

Vex blinked
, trying to bring the room into focus. Aching took over every inch of his body as he tried to move. What a night. Hell, what a week. The last seven days had been filled with nothing but he, Trace, and his mate, bonding. He couldn’t believe how absolutely perfect things were between them. Happiness wasn’t supposed to be in the cards for him. At least, he’d never thought it would be, but this? What the three of them had was the closest thing to Heaven he was sure he would ever get.

A smile came to his mouth and he turned to take in her sleeping face. Vex lifted his arm and winced. Damn, had they really gone that hard last night? He couldn’t remember it being any different than the other times. Maybe the
days of constant lovemaking were starting to catch up with him.

Gently, he traced his knuckles over the side of her beautiful face. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. Just looking at her made him feel like he could accomplish anything. He wanted to be good. To make her love him as much as he loved her. Vex pulled back his hand, not wanting to wake her. He stood and a groan came from his mouth.
He looked at the other side of the bed and noticed Trace was gone.

The food trays were still sitting next to the bed and he wiped them away with his hand. Every step to the shower had him clenching his jaw. He shut the door and turned toward the mirror. His eyes always came to one thing first. At what he saw, Vex froze.

The badge on his shoulder was still there, but completely blank. His finger traced over the symbol, and he could feel his heart racing. What did this mean? Well, obviously it represented that he was no longer the master of the city, but if he wasn’t meant to lead, why was the outline of the medal still there?

Shorts immediately appeared on him and he eased the door open and raced downstairs. Trace was sitting on the couch, leaned forward, staring at the TV. His eyes glanced at Vex, and went back to being glued to the screen. “Have you ever watched this
Sons of Anarchy
show? There’s a marathon on. You should sit and check it out. I’m positively hooked.”

Vex shook his head and waved the television off. “Trace.”

“Hey, man! What the hell?”

“Trace!” Vex pulled him up. “Tell me if you notice anything.”

The demon looked at his body. “Did you lose weight? We’ve been going at it nonstop. I think maybe I’ve lost a few pounds.”

A growl came from Vex. “
I’m not fucking with you. Look closer. This is serious.”

Trace twisted his mouth. As his eyes raked over Vex’s chest his stare got big. “Oh…shit.” He met Vex’s
eyes. “You’re not a master, anymore. At least not over demons, you’re not. The oath is gone, and the location of your territory has disappeared. What does it mean?”

“I don’t know.” Vex felt like he was going to be sick. “I woke up this morning and went to take a shower and it was blank. My body is actually aching all over.”

Trace’s lips parted. “You know, mine is too. I’ve tried to ignore it, but I can’t shake how tight my muscles feel. I’ve never felt anything like this before. We’re not supposed to feel pain.”

Vex nodded.
“Something is wrong. Do you think we’re about to be sent back?”

Panic came to Trace’s face. “
I’m not fucking going anywhere. Hurry, and let’s do something evil, quick! We’ll make the power come back. Here,” he pulled Vex to the front porch and pointed into the distance, at the traffic on the highway. “Let’s cause an accident.”

“What?” Vex turned
to him, shocked. “You’re crazy. We can’t do that. What if a person gets seriously hurt? For all I know, someone’s Melody could be in there. I won’t risk causing that sort of pain to a person.”

Fear engulfed Trace’s features. “God, you’re right. I wouldn’t be able to do it, either. Shit.” He
shook his head back and forth, slowly. “What in the hell is happening to us? We wouldn’t have hesitated months ago if we thought it had come down to losing our status.”

Vex rubbed his hand against the growth on his face. “
Let’s just see what happens. I doubt we’re about to get sent back. We’re probably just feeling the effects of not doing our jobs or something. And the badge doesn’t mean everything. So I’m not the master of the city, anymore. Who cares? I’m obviously still a master. My symbol is still there. Maybe once I get home and get back to work it’ll come back.”

And if it doesn’t?”

Vex shrugged. “I still have the club. Corpus
Christi will get a new master, and I’ll just live a normal life. I think I like that idea, actually.”

“You’ve lost it,” Trace said, shaking his head. “I don’t even feel like I know you anymore.
You’ve been so different this last week. You haven’t once threatened me with something, or come after me with the intent to invoke mass amounts of pain like you used to. The anger and hate is gone, Vex. You may still be a master in the bedroom, but your demon is different. No wonder the words disappeared. You’re weak.”

Vex pushed the back of his head, f
orward. “I’m far from it. There. How was that?”

“Better.” Trace smiled and rubbed where the connection was made.

“Don’t underestimate my power just because the words are gone. I may not be your master anymore, but I am just as strong as one. Don’t forget it.”

Trac
e rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Well, I’m pretty strong myself. But what lies in store for us when we get back to the city is beyond me. I have to tell you, I feel pretty different too. It’s kind of scary.”

“It is.” Vex looked toward the road.
Helix should have found them by now. The demons were probably causing all sorts of chaos in the city. Maybe they needed to go back and see if they would find
him
there. “I think it’s time to go home. Apparently, Helix isn’t concerned. We’ll just have to keep a close eye on Melody.”
