“I’ve heard great things about you, Nikole.”

“Well I’ve heard absolutely nothing about you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get a drink and find your opponent so I can offer him a special reward for kicking your ass.”

My smile grew wider, which made her want to kill me; I could see it in her eyes. I watched as she walked out of the room, making a point to stomp her feet with every step she took.

“She is quite the firecracker, isn’t she?”

“You have no idea.” Tav said.

I licked my lips and forced the image of her amazing ass out of my head. I didn’t know what it was about her, but she was the only girl to stir any kind of feeling in me since Amelia died. The thought of Amelia made me feel guilty. Guilty for looking, guilty for wanting, guilty for leaving home as soon as things got rough.

The sound of the bell echoed through the room. That was my cue to head to the stage. I walked out the door and Tav followed me with Drake and Lexi behind him. Tav jumped into the ring and took the microphone from one of the waitresses.

“Good evening, ladies and gentleman. In a few minutes we will get to our main event of the night, but first, everyone give a big welcome back to Nikki ‘Knock Out’ Bane!”

The crowd went wild with cheers and chants. Nikole jumped up on top of the bar and started waving to everyone. Our eyes connected from across the room, and even then she gave me the dirtiest look she could. Oh yeah, there was no denying it, this woman was going to mean trouble for me.

I never would have pictured her as a fighter, but I guess the saying is true:  you can’t judge a book by its cover.

“Now, I give you all what you have been waiting for, Reigning champion The Animal, and Tiny Tony!”

I pulled myself up into the ring, ignoring the screaming girls that crashed their way to the font. I looked over to the other side, where a mountain of a man climbed up. He was huge; if anything, his nick name should have been the tank.  I rolled my shoulders and cracked my neck. This was going to be one hell of a fight. ‘Tiny’ Tony was twice my size and might actually give me a run for my money, but there is still no way in hell I’ll let him beat me.

I looked over to the bar where Nikole was standing, but she was gone. I scanned the crowd and smiled as soon as I caught sight of her beside Drake at the side of the ring. I winked at her and she rolled her eyes.

“And now, to make things interesting, lower the cage!” Tav yelled and jumped off the platform.

They installed a cage? I knew Tav said they were working on something to make the fights a little more interesting, but I don’t do well with cages.

I could feel my heart pounding against my chest as I fought every urge inside my body to run. I took deep breaths to steady my nerves and flexed my hands in and out of fists. I had to keep the beast under control and it wasn’t going to be easy
