Lane picked up his cell phone and made some
calls, he needed to know a few things first, like who would cause
the greatest impact on their club if he killed them.

Soon she was going to be his, and she was
going to pay for all this shit.

Chapter Twelve

Treat pulled into the hospital; she was
not
looking forward to this. Hell who would, she and the
guys had talked to the counselor, it was decided that she needed to
tell her sister by herself, and as soon as possible. Jilly hadn’t
had any control in her life in a long time; they didn’t need to
take this away from her.

She had almost not been able to come, the
guys were wary of Lane being out there somewhere, all of them
thought he was a danger to her. Treat had shook her head, why would
he be? She was nothing to him. No, her sister was the one who was
in danger.

She took a deep breath before she got off her
motorcycle. She had a tail, she knew it, and the guys told her she
would. With a grin, she smiled and waved to Peaches, the older man
who was driving a beat up old truck following her. They wanted eyes
on her at all times. Peaches shook his head and then waved back and
pointed to his phone letting her know to text when she was leaving.
With a nod, she walked to the door.

The lobby to the hospital was quiet. She
walked to the elevator and never even saw the man who had walked
into the side door following her. At the elevator she turned and
looked around again, Lane grinned, he felt her staring at him,
yeah, he was going to break her.

Once on the floor where her sister was Treat
relaxed. She saw that once again Match was on the door.

“Damn, Match, you are like all over this.”
She laughed and the man blushed, yes blushed.
What the hell
?
she thought but shook her head and walked into her sister’s
room.

It was a little dark, the shades were drawn
but she could see that Jilly was awake, she was just laying staring
at the wall.
Not a good sign
, she thought and walked to the
edge of the bed.

“Hey, Jillybean, what is going on?” she said
softly.

Her eyes turned to her and she grimaced.
“Sorry, I was just thinking.”

“About what?” she asked.

“Stuff,” Jilly whispered.

“How are you feeling?” Treat asked.

“Like shit,” Jilly tried to smile.

“I am sorry,” Treat said softly and her
sister looked at her with a frown.

“You gotta stop apologizing, Brooke, it is
not your fault. Hell, it’s mine, I should have left sooner. Hell, I
should never have been there,” Jilly said. “You know how they say
‘looking back I shoulda known’, well I did know, and I still was a
dumbass for letting myself get caught up in someone else’s
problems. You are not responsible for my bad choices, Brooke, you
are only responsible for helping me when I called.”

Treat bit her lip and looked at her sister
and then out the window. Shit, this was really going to suck.

“Honey,” Treat said and looked back at her
sister. “I don’t know how else to say this but to come right out
and say it. Mom was killed last night.”

Jilly gasped and closed her eyes. Tears began
to fall as she quietly cried. Treat just held on to her hand and
waited. She didn’t know what to say since her thoughts and emotions
were scrambled as well.

“Oh, Brooke,” Jilly whispered and opened her
wet eyes. “Was it Dad?”

“No, they don’t think so. They think it was
Lane,” Treat said softly.

There was no look of surprise, only sorrow.
“That bastard, he threatened it often enough. You know the saddest
part, I knew it was coming. Because I was in here, and everything.
He blamed Dad I am sure. Just like usual, he probably ran away. He
did that all the time you know, ran away, left me and mom to deal
with Lane. Usually just me. He is evil,” she finished with a hiss.
“He is going to come for me, you know. He will, especially if he’s
wanted by the law. Threatened to kill Mom and Dad a million times,
he has a back-up plan for leaving, he laughed about it. But he
won’t leave his son. It is sad really, I mean, I know Mom is dead,
but the only thing I can think of is at least she won’t have to
wake up with bruises anymore. I hope she finally finds peace you
know, because she never had it in life.”

Treat put a hand on her shoulder and said,
“Oh, honey.”

“You can’t help,” Jilly said quietly. “I will
never be free of him. He is like a bad penny, he will turn up again
and again until he gets what he wants.”

Treat frowned and looked at her sister. She
was traumatized, she was broken, and all because of the man and her
father. It made her sick to her stomach even thinking about it.

“Yeah I can, and I will stop him. Right now,
I am going to call a counselor and have them come here to speak to
you. Because, honey, seeing the look of defeat in your eyes is
unacceptable. Nothing and no one is going to hurt you or your son.
When you leave here, you are coming to live with my friends and me.
They will protect you, if you want to make a new life somewhere
else, I will give you the money to do that as well. I wasn’t here
before, but I am here now, and dammit, he will not take anything
else from me,” Treat said intensely and her sister began to tear up
again.

“I know you want to help, but you have no
clue what you are dealing with,” Jilly said and Treat stood and
yelled over her shoulder.

“Match, come in here,” she called and the
door opened. “My sister needs a lesson in the Warriors. She doesn’t
think we can help her.”

Match frowned and looked at Jilly. “No one
will touch you or your son, if they try they have to go through me.
Trust me, they will not make it through me.”

“You don’t get it,” Jilly protested.

“No, you
don’t
,” Match said with a
hard tone. “But I am gonna tell you. Our club is serious when it
comes to protecting both women and children. Treat is one of ours
so therefore, you are one of ours. This means we will do anything
and I mean anything
to keep you safe. No one will ever touch
you again out of anger.”

Match was scary when he was intense. Treat
loved him for that, because she could see her sister, even though
scared and hesitant, she was believing the rough biker. Treat saw a
small sliver of hope in her sister’s eyes before it was gone. She
was going to hold onto that small sliver, it would get larger.
Treat was going to make sure of it.

Stone and War entered the room still a little
pissed about the fit Treat threw on them about going alone to the
hospital. Well, her ass was going to get used to being taken care
of whether she liked it or not. Peaches tailing her wasn’t going to
cramp the hellcat’s independence.

“Brothers, I am going to take the look on
your faces to mean your woman gave you shit about the tail,” Free
chuckled.

“Fuck, man, she is going to be the death of
us,” War grumbled.

“Yeah, you keep up yelling at her all the
time and she is going to kill your ass while you’re sleeping,”
Stone said and laughed when War grumbled under his breath.

“Well, good to hear you three are getting
closer. Treat’s strong but…” Free trailed off.

Stone and War looked at Free who was sitting
at the table across from Data while his fingers moved deftly over
the keyboard to the computer.

“What? Did you find some more out on Chet?”
War asked.

“Chet was born Charlie Harris, he was raised
in Nevada, met a woman by the name of Christina Monroe, found
nothing on them being married but they did have a child, a girl,
the birth certificate Data found had their names on it.”

“So he was an asshole from the beginning.
What does that have to do with Treat being strong?” Stone asked
with a confused looked as he processed the information Free was
giving them.

“Well, it is one of two things. Treat either
has a half-sister out there or Treat’s the baby girl born to
them—”

“Wait,” War interrupted Free, “if she is the
baby girl, then that means who she thought was her mother, isn’t?
Is that what we are hearing?”

“Seems so, at least what I have dug up so
far,” Data stopped long enough to answer War’s question.

“Motherfucking shit, this just keeps getting
better. Like Treat hasn’t been through enough shit, now her mom is
not her mom or she has another sister out there. Do we know which
scenario it is?” Stone asked, running his hand over his head.

“Yes, she is the baby, same birth date and
everything. Even same dad by what I am finding on Chet. She just
has a different name and mother. Haven’t located the Christina
woman yet or the reason on how Treat ended up with Chet. Still
working on it,” Data spoke as he continued to work on the computer,
his fingers never missing a beat.

“So what was the baby girl’s name?” Stone
asked.

“Um…you are going to love this one,” Data
chuckled.

“What the fuck is so funny, Data,” War
griped.

“Dude, the name for the baby on the birth
certificate was Spice Monroe Harris,” Data said laughing.

“Fuck us. Well, she did tell us that treats
aren’t always sweet,” War laughed.

“Now you have to decide if we share this info
now with your girl or do we hold off until it all is uncovered,”
Free looked toward the men, waiting.

“A part of me wants to tell her because I
know she is strong, but I’m going with we need all the information
for her. She feels this is her fault, everything that has happened.
At least when we do tell her it would ease the burden she feels for
her mother’s death, since we now know the woman wasn’t her mother,”
Stone stopped, looking toward War.

“Agreed, brother. Let’s keep it to ourselves
until we have the complete story on this. How much longer, Data?”
War asked.

“Still working on it, shouldn’t be much
longer. Will let you know asap,” Data answered as he continued his
search.

“You men sure about not telling her?” Free
asked.

“Yeah, shit could cost us if Treat finds out,
but still feel better if we know all there is to know,” Stone
said.

“I agree,” War replied.

“Your call, your woman,” Freebryd
answered.

The men nodded as a crack of thunder shook
the building. “Fuck, a storm is brewing, let’s go pick her up in
the truck so she doesn’t have to ride in the rain,” Stone was
already walking out as he spoke.

“Let’s hook up the bike trailer so we can
bring her bike back with us,” War said, following behind Stone.

“That works,” Stone said as the men left to
pick up Treat.

Treat slammed the door to the house behind
her before the men could enter, and stomped down the hallway to the
master bedroom muttering the whole time.

“Stupid, arrogant males who think that women
are poor helpless creatures,” Treat said and then glared over her
shoulder when War and Stone walked into the door.

By the time they had gotten inside she had
already stripped down out of the wet clothes in the bedroom, not
even thinking about going anywhere but the room they had already
shared, she hadn’t thought to ask whose it was. She was
uncomfortable, and gross, and dammit, they were to blame. If they
would have just let her ride alone, none of this would have
happened.

“Woman, you should calm the hell down,” War
yelled.

Stone put his hand up to his face and rolled
his eyes. This was seriously going to suck. “War…”

“What did you say?” Treat said, coming back
out into the family room with just her bra and panties on. She had
been ready to go into the shower.

“You heard me, calm down. We did exactly what
we said we were going to do, dammit. Protect you, I am telling you
right the fuck now, that is not going to change, I don’t care if
you can handle yourself. You don’t have to anymore, you are ours,
period,” War yelled.
