She gave him a sidelong seductive glance. “Well, a girl’s gotta eat.”

His lip twitched with amusement. “Lead the way. I’m still new in this town.”

Unconsciously, she moistened her lips. “Mexican okay?”

“Works for me.”

She gave him directions to her favorite restaurant, which was only a ten minute ride.

Luna stared out the window during the drive to keep herself from staring at Hunter. The last thing she wanted was to seem too into him. Relief washed over her when they pulled into the parking lot.

She watched as he walked around the truck to open the door for her. She loved the way his muscles rippled and tensed as he moved. He stirred something inside of her that had been dormant for quite a while now. And she hadn’t even realized it until he walked into her life.

They walked through the door and loud Spanish music greeted them, bringing an instant smile to her face. The place was decorated in a festive theme, lots of bright orange, yellow, and greens. A sombrero hat hung from the ceiling.

“Señorita Luna, so nice to see you again.” The maître d’, a rail thin man with a slight pot belly and a droopy mustache greeted them with an affectionate smile. Luna flashed him a grin as he led them to a corner booth. It was always nice to be remembered.

“I take it you come here often?” Hunter asked, as he glanced over the menu.

Luna shrugged. “At least once a week. It’s cheap and the food is amazing.”

A waiter came by and dropped a bowl of chips in the center of the table, along with dip and two glasses of water, before scurrying away.

Taking a sip, Luna couldn’t help but notice Hunter looked even sexier in the glow of the candle’s light. Erotic images danced through her head.

Unable to help herself, Luna’s gaze dropped to his hands. Like everything else on his body, they looked strong and powerful. She couldn’t wait to feel them all over her bare skin.

A waitress came up this time, her eyes were sharp, taking in Hunter from head to toe. If he noticed he didn’t react. Thankfully, because Luna might have to jump across the table if he’d dare check out another chick in her presence. Luna smiled slightly. Point one for Hunter. She couldn’t blame the woman, she’d have done the same thing herself.

They placed their orders and Luna watched as the woman walked away. The extra sway she added to her step wasn’t lost on Luna. The girl even glanced over her shoulder to see if she had an audience.

It surprised her to feel the hint of jealousy creeping up. She was a lot of things, but jealous and insecure were not a part of her genetic makeup, and she didn’t like the fact that a virtual stranger was bringing those feelings out in her.

“She wants you,” Luna said, keeping her face a cool mask as she grabbed a chip and dipped it into the salsa.

Hunter raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t notice.” He captured her eyes with his. “I was too busy watching the way your lips wrapped around the straw.”

A wide smile spontaneously spread across her face. She stopped herself from reaching over and touching his hand. Why didn’t she? It’s not like she ever exercised caution around a man before. Whenever she wanted something she just took it. ‘Take pleasure any way you can’ has always been her motto.

The waitress came back and set two glasses of whiskey and Coke down before them, making sure to lean forward to give Hunter a clear view of her cleavage, but his eyes never left hers.

“Tell me about yourself,” Luna said, picking up the glass and swirling the ice before taking a long sip.

“What do you want to know?”

She found herself wanting to know
everything
about him. “Let’s see. Did you always want to be a Green Beret?”

“Pretty much. Like most kids, I wanted to be a doctor, a spy, or something like that. By the time I was ten, I knew I was going in the military and my dream was to be in the Special Forces.”

“I guess dreams do come true.” Luna smiled.

“I guess they do.”

“Do you like it?”

“What? The military?”

“Yeah. Are you an adrenaline junkie?”

Hunter leaned back in his chair. “No, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, it goes without saying its part of the job description, but I’m not one of those guys that every free moment is spent jumping out of planes or driving cars too fast.”

“But you like the violence, don’t you?” For some reason she was certain of it. It was probably what drew her to him.

Hunter shrugged. “When necessary.” He paused. “What makes you think that?”

Luna traced her finger on the table and shrugged. “It’s in your nature, an integral part of your personality. You don’t conceal it as well as you think.” She paused. “You gotta remember, I grew up around guys like you.”

“That’s right, your brother. How much older is he?”

“A few years older.”

“And you also have a twin. That must be interesting.”

Luna smiled at the way he smoothly changed the subject. “I guess that’s one way to word it. We’re like night and day.”

“Are you close?”

“Yeah, we drifted apart for a while because she was involved with some asshole loser, but she finally saw the light and left his ass. I couldn’t imagine my life without her.”

“That’s cool.”

“What about you, any siblings?”

She could have sworn his eyes clouded over for just a moment, but he shook his head. “A brother.”

“Older or younger?”

“A couple of years younger.”

Just then the waitress returned and set their food in front of them. In between bites, they continued to make small talk. Slowly learning bits and pieces about the others’ lives, but not digging deep enough to really know anything. They remained guarded and casual during dinner.

However, as soon as they left the restaurant all pretenses were dropped.

Chapter Seven

She didn’t know who reached for who first, but in the span of a heartbeat, Hunter was coiling his arms around her waist and tugging her close. His touch felt hot on her skin beneath her clothing. Hunter walked her backwards, until her back was pressed against his truck. One of his hands fisted in her hair. Effortlessly, he took possession of her mouth, kissing her with an intensity that stole her breath. The warmth of his body washed over her. She lost herself in the shocking sensuality of the kiss.

In the distance, she could hear car doors slamming, the crunching of gravel, and people talking, but she didn’t care.

His tongue slid between her lips, swirling with hers and kissing her thoroughly. As she suspected, his lips were firm and confident. Soft moans of pleasure escaped as his free hand roamed, touching as much of her as he could. His hand slid down her hair, her shoulder, and over her spine, stopping at the small of her back. He jerked her forward, pressing her hips to his. The swell of his erection through his jeans nearly undid her. All of her senses were concentrated on him. She could smell a hint of cologne—something woodsy and intoxicating—hear the steady beat of his heart, and felt the solid muscles of his thighs against hers.

Her body was quick to respond; she could feel the dampness between her legs along with an aching pressure.

One of his hands cupped the underside of her breast and squeezed slightly, as his thumb slid across her nipple. Her head lolled back, sighing as he made his way greedily down her neck. Everywhere he touched her body throbbed, and the places he hadn’t touched were practically begging to experience him. She’d never been more aware of every inch of her skin before. It was insane.

Tearing his mouth from hers, he ended the kiss suddenly. Instantly, she felt a wild sense of loss. The unfamiliar sensation not only puzzled her, but worried her. She shook her head to chase away the strange feeling.

He framed her face in his hands and swiped his thumb across her swollen lower lip. “Jesus, you’re as sweet as honey.”

Their gazes locked, both breathing rapidly. A longing overcame her so deep it shocked her. She would have had sex with him standing in the parking lot if he’d tried.

She could sense the tension and impatience coming off him in waves.

“Your place or mine?” Luna’s voice lowered to a husky whisper.

He met her lustful gaze. “Are you sure?”

Luna tilted her head in surprise. “If you’re looking for a timid virgin, I’m afraid you’ve cornered the wrong girl.”

“I know exactly who you are,” Hunter said in a low voice.

Luna pressed her body intimately to his and whispered, “Good, I wouldn’t want there to be any miscommunication.”

“Oh, I think we both want the same thing. You just haven’t realized what that is yet.” Hunter’s eyes bore into hers.

She leaned back and studied his face, purely animalistic. Holy shit. She couldn’t recall a guy ever making her nervous. Ever. And yet here she was quivering inside like a leaf. Her heart pounded like crazy in her chest.

“My bed,” he said, grabbing her hand and pulling her around to the other side of the truck to let her in.

She hoped he didn’t live too far away. She couldn’t wait to feel him sink into her. Jesus, she had to stop the images that were scrolling through her mind, or she was going to have an orgasm right then and there without him even touching her. What. The. Hell.

Jumping into the truck, he slammed the door, hit the gas, and took off.

They drove most of the way in silence. Once in a while, Luna tried to make small talk, but she was met with just one word answers … as if he had to concentrate on driving. She could tell by the gleam in his eyes, he was having as much of a hard time as she was of containing himself. Unable to help herself, Luna reached over and entwined her fingers with his.

About ten minutes later, he turned into an apartment complex. Thank God!

After pulling into a parking space, he cut the engine.

Unable to wait for him to reach her side, she threw open the door. Hunter stood waiting for her, so she grabbed ahold of his shoulders and slid her body along his as she jumped out of the truck. He grabbed her ass and pressed her into him. They shared a harsh kiss, before he grabbed her hand, leading her up a narrow stone walkway lined with flowers. They were walking so fast she almost had to run to keep up. The apartment building was huge, made of red brick and much nicer than her own. It was brightly lit by security lights, but she was so into him, she didn’t even notice the immaculate lawn or the group of people grilling out and drinking beer.

Their hips bumped together as they walked. Just that slight touch caused her body to ache with need.

Walking up three never-ending flights of stairs, they finally his floor.

Unlocking his door, Hunter led her inside and flicked on the wall switch, illuminating the room. Luna took a quick look around. Typical bachelor’s pad; sparsely furnished, and a small, black dog was sleeping in the corner. The room was cool as if he kept the AC down way too low, but she was more interested in the person standing before her that made her feel dizzy with desire.

How could just looking at a man make her come completely undone? Granted, he truly was unbearably handsome and his body was as beautifully proportioned as a Greek god’s.

Still—it made zero sense as far as she was concerned, but she wasn’t about to second guess it. Not tonight.

Lifting her head up, their eyes met and the air between them practically crackled. Her purse hit the floor with a thunk.

Before she had time to speak, he pressed his mouth to hers. Her hands were behind his head and she was fiercely kissing him back. Heart pounding wildly, her body reacted as if she’d had a shot of pure adrenaline.

His hands left her face to slip down her shirt, and she gasped when his thumbs lightly grazed her nipples before cupping her breasts. Her nipples hardened instantly, tingling beneath the heat of his palms, and his large hands teased her swollen breasts. Leaning down, his tongue flicked her earlobe. A shudder tore through her.

Every nerve in her body was a live wire.

Pulling her straight down the hallway into his bedroom, she couldn’t take her eyes off him to even bother to look around. He lifted and tossed her on the bed. When he climbed on top of her, his knees sank into the bed with a loud creak. The weight of his body covered hers and he kissed her possessively.

Chapter Eight

Luna’s gaze was locked on his large hand as he pushed at her shirt. She moved to sit up to help him, but he shook his head. “I got it.”

Lowering his mouth, he trailed hot kisses up her stomach and over the swell of her breast, easing the tank top up until he pulled it over her head and tossed it on the ground. He gathered her in his arms and kissed her mindless before tearing himself away.

One of his hands lay warmly against her face, and his thumb moved roughly across her cheekbone. “I need to see all of you. Taste every inch.”

It was difficult to speak, so she just nodded. He wasn’t going to get any complaints out of her, that’s for damn sure.

Slowly, his lips trailed down the hollow of her neck. The combination of his tongue, lips, and the scrape of his teeth were complete sensual torture. She could feel her pulse jumping in response.

Her body shook with desire and she knew he felt it, too, because when his lips met hers again she felt them tremble. His chest rose and fell rapidly.

When his calloused hands slid down her back, she moaned. His fingers expertly unlatched her bra and dropped it to the ground. Luna grasped ahold of his shoulders when his fingers glided across her skin under the waistband of her skirt. Using both of his hands he tugged the skirt past her hips, and impatiently she kicked the skirt the rest of the way off.

She made a deep sound in her throat when his fingers hooked in her panties and he yanked. They ripped, causing her to shiver and squirm. She thought she’d died and gone to heaven when his fingers slid between the wet, soft folds. He inhaled sharply. “So fucking warm and wet.”

She responded by arching into him and gasping out his name between clenched teeth.

Luna was acutely aware of the clothing separating them. Lifting her hips, she pulled at his shirt. He leaned back and impatiently pulled it off, tossing it to the ground.
