Quiana’s
smokey eyes lowered. “25 million.”

“What?” I was a little shocked. “You
gotta be kiddin’ me. I wanna buy this spot, not the whole strip mall.”

Dallas rolled her eyes slowly.

Quiana cleared her throat. “Allow me to clarify. 25 million is how much the take is on the job I want you and your team to pull off for me.”

I licked my l
ips and looked at her slyly. That’s when I saw her true angle.

“I think you got the wrong man sweetie. I’m trying to get into the retail business. Great Clips not great hits.”

“Oh ok, well, let’s get that out of the way so we can really talk. This space is eighty seven grand and if I know you like I think I do, that’s what you spend on Jordans in a year.” She walked toward Dallas and I. “Look, I do sell commercial real estate, so the spot is yours if you want it. However, I also specialize in another area. There isn’t too much I don’t know about in California, especially when it comes to crime.”

Dallas stepped toward her. “You need to talk a
lil’ bit faster before I pop my trunk.”

I put my arm on her
shoulder. “Jus’ hold up a sec, let her talk.”

I knew
that when people opened their mouths their brain was on display and I was interested in seeing just how much Quiana would show me.

“Look, thi
s is real. I need your team and trust me, I’ve done my homework on you. I know you’re a self-made man. I know about the bank in China Town, the underground gambling casino and the recent armored truck heist. Like I said, I keep up on crime. That’s how I find talent and you are one talented man. You think things through, you see every angle and you’re not scared to get a little dirty. That’s just what I need.”

When she mentioned my past jobs my curiosity shot up. Who was this woman?

I steadied my eyes on her smooth face. “I heard about those jobs too, but it wasn’t me. I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about.”

She smiled showing her deep dimples. “That’s exactly what I expected you to say.”

“Who are you?” I folded my arms across my chest.

“I’m an independent woman who needs your help. I contract multi-million dollar jobs out to people like you and your friends. I only work with the best and I want to work with you Mr. Adkins, you as well Dallas.”

“25 million huh?” I asked her directly.

“Yes sir.” She didn’t flinch.

I looked at Dallas as she eyed the woman cautiously.

“I brought you with me so I can get your opinion. So, what do you think?”

She bit her bottom lip lightly. “I think we should stay a little longer and hear what Pocahontas has to say.”

“Alright.” I looked at
Quiana. “So, tell me about this 25 million dollar job even though you have the wrong man.” I grinned.

“I
t would be my pleasure.” She licked her stop sign red lips and smiled.

~Back To
TheBeginning

Today was an important day in my life. Today was the day I was going to fully commit to one lady without looking back. It was time. It was time for me to turn a corner in my life. I firmly believed now, that behind every great man is a strong woman.

G
etting shot did two things. For one it made me mad and for two it made me appreciate life and the people I shared it with. I now knew who I wanted to grow old with. I knew who I wanted by my side every night when I went to bed. I knew who I wanted to give that six carat diamond ring to.

I bought the ring a few days ago from my favorite jewelry store in Beverly Hills. The same one Peck robbed. I had to admit I was nervous as I stood there in the charred ruins of my first home. I stood where my old warehouse used to be all alone
, waiting for her to arrive. I had the jitters because I was opening myself up completely. I was choosing a partner for life and until she said yes to my question…I would remain tense.

The tiny black box was in my clammy right hand. I clutched it as her car pulled up to the cu
rb and parked. Once she got out she smiled at me, bounced up on the sidewalk and carefully navigated her way toward me through the black scraps of metal and wood.

“Why are you out here in your old burned down warehouse?” She asked as she stepped over a steel beam.

“This is where it all started for me.” I looked around.

I took in all
of her beauty as she walked up to me. She looked stunning. Her make up flawless, hair looked lustrous and she had a body that I never got tired of looking at.

“What’s so important? Is there something wrong? Why did you call me out here to meet you?”

She gave me a puzzled look.

I grabbed her left hand and dropped down on one knee. Right there in the middle of
my mini wasteland. A chill traveled over my body when I saw her eyes widen with excitement.

“OH MY GOD!!!” She started shaking her head.

I looked up at her as I held her hand in mine.

“I brought you here to meet me
, ‘cuz this is the place I spent many days and nights alone. On some quiet nights, I would let myself dream of one day meeting someone special and being happy. I dreamed about meeting you and now here you are standing her in front of me.”

Her eyes began to mist over. “
Tyce, you’re gonna make me cry. Oh my God.”

I took a deep breath. “I started my life alone, but I want it to end with you beside me. I love you. I’m
in
love with you.”

I took another deep breath and exhaled slowly. I let go of her hand just long enough to open the ring box. The huge rock glistened in the bright sun light.

“Will you marry me?”

“You bet your sexy
ass I will! Yes! Yes! Yes!”
