“But God, does he have other attributes,” Kayla said laughing.
Lee slapped him on the back in comradely fashion as he saw J.J.’s flush of embarrassment. “That’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of, J.J.” And to Kayla, “I figured he would.”
The smell of bacon and pancakes brought Harm and Luke in, and soon they were all joking and laughing.
As J.J. listened to them and noted the obvious closeness among them all, he felt part of a real family for the first time in his life. He considered himself the luckiest guy on the planet. When his eyes met Kayla’s, his thoughts ran forward to the night. Just the thought of what was to come later made him hard, and he shifted uncomfortably on the chair as she blew him a kiss across the table.
J.J.’s cock instantly responded to Kayla’s smoldering look, and again he had to shift his weight to allow for the sudden fullness between his legs. When he noticed the grins on the faces of his brother mates, he realized he wasn’t fooling anybody. It dawned on him that all of them had probably gone through this intense, raging, horny stage when they were first “married” to Kayla, when they were made privy to her enormous sexual appetite, so they understood.
It was Harm, in his spooky intuitive way, who adequately expressed what J.J. was thinking at that moment. “You know, today being Saturday and the fact that you’re still on your honeymoon, you don’t have to wait until night to be with your wife, J.J. You two get out of here and let us clean up.”
Kayla laughed. “I might need to eat more Wheaties to keep up with J.J.”
Surprised that he no longer felt embarrassed or uncomfortable with the turn of the conversation, J.J. had the quick comeback, “I was thinking the same thing about you, Kayla.
Dios
, you could wear a guy out.”
“Don’t we know it,” Luke said with a grin.
They all laughed.
Again, J.J. was struck with the unity among them. With a satisfied sigh, he finished off his pancakes. When he pushed back from the table, Kayla came to stand beside him, reaching for his hand as she tilted her face up to receive his kiss.
When their lips parted, she said, “Umm. Sweet as syrup. Come on, stud. This is our day. You guys,” she addressed the others was a sultry smile, “we’ll see you later, or maybe not until tomorrow.”
As she led J.J. toward her suite, he wrapped a possessive arm about her waist, whispering down to her, “If I’m dreaming, please don’t wake me up.”
CHAPTER 7
Sunday—Day of absolute abstinence
Saturday night had been a lustful repeat of Friday night, and though he had felt totally drained the last of the four times they had climaxed, the minute he opened his eyes and realized it was Sunday morning, J.J. lusted after Kayla again. He wondered how he would get through the next few days without making love to her.
Thinking she would allow at least a morning session of coupling before the day of abstinence began, he reached for her once again, kissing her awake as his hands slid down her magnificent body.
She turned to him smiling before patting his cheek indulgently, reminding him, “It’s Sunday, J.J.”
“Can’t we have a quick roll in the hay before we join the others? We won’t tell them.”
Kayla laughed. “I never thought I would meet someone who was more sexually insatiable than me, but I do believe I’ve met my match in you, J.J. As for the roll in the hay, sorry. Not telling the others is not the point. Rules are rules, and the Sunday rule is set in stone. Gives you time to reflect, anticipate, and rejuvenate, so when we do come together again, it will be more exciting.”
“I don’t need time apart to be excited about fucking you, Kayla. I want to do it every time I look at you.”
“That’s sweet, J.J. I won’t like time apart from you, either. But the rules are for a reason, and I know they work. So, sorry, my love, no quickie roll in the hay. I’m going to grab a shower now and…”
“Can we shower together at least?”
“Not this morning, darling. Too tempting.”
“I think I’m going to hate Sundays.”
Laughing, she kissed him then slid off the bed and padded naked to the shower, leaving him to nurse his aching need and groan his dissatisfaction.
They joined the others at the table, but J.J. didn’t even taste breakfast. He ate in solemn silence. He felt rejected, thinking back over the way Kayla had summarily dismissed him, making him feel he was less important to her than she was to him.
He did not see Harm shoot Kayla an inquisitive, eyebrow-lifted look of inquiry, which she answered with a shrug.
The other men exchanged looks, all pretty sure they knew what was eating J.J. They had all experienced the same feeling of rebellious denial when the testosterone level wouldn’t subside after their appointed night with Kayla.
Each of them, in his own way, had come to terms with the situation and had managed to deal with the difficult adjustment. It had been the same for them all in the beginning. But soon they had seen the necessity of obeying the rules in order to live in harmonious accord. It was a simple conclusion. Her rules, her home, her body—and if they wanted to continue sharing it, they would have to accept that.
As they exchanged looks, all felt sorry for J.J., knowing because of his young age, he was perhaps having a harder time than they had had.
After the table was cleared and the dishes were in the dishwasher, hoping to get a response from J.J., Harm suggested a game of cutthroat ping-pong, declaring he was the world’s best.
Luke took up the challenge, and the two of them headed for the recreation room. J.J. followed morosely along, leaving just Lee and Kayla in the kitchen.
As soon as they’d left, Lee asked Kayla, “Is J.J. pouting because it’s Sunday?”
She laughed. “I believe he is. I think perhaps I discovered the one flaw in my perfect Spanish stud machine. He’s a little bit spoiled when it comes to sex and used to getting his way, I think. He doesn’t like being told no, and he definitely doesn’t care for the Sunday rule.”
Lee chuckled. “I didn’t think he would. I didn’t care for it myself when we first got together, remember? I thought it ought to be a ‘first-come-to-ask, first-fucked’ day.
“I remember. But you didn’t pout about it.”
“He’s nineteen, Kayla.”
“I know.”
Kayla sipped her coffee, suddenly pensive, as she asked, “Do you think he’s too young to be part of us, Lee?”
“I think he’s got a real adjustment to make, and we all have to be patient with him. He’s a great guy and a perfect fit for all of us, Kayla, but he still has a lot of growing up to do. And you can’t blame him for being enthralled with you, woman. You’re definitely a force to be reckoned with, after all. Give him time. Soon he’ll come to see that we all need Saturdays to relax and keep the bonds between us strong, and Sundays as a day of complete abstinence.”
After two ping-pong games, both of which he won, Harm suggested they watch a movie. They rejoined Lee and Kayla and all moved to the media room. The men lounged in the theater chairs, while Kayla sat apart from them all on the couch. She felt J.J.’s eyes boring into her, but refused even to look back at him.
Listening to the men’s comments about the movie, Kayla noted that J.J. wasn’t entering into the conversation. That worried her.
Have I made a mistake taking J.J. as my lover? But he’s such a great guy and so phenomenal in bed, I can’t see letting him go.
This time she did look at him and smile. As their eyes held, with a deep, exhaled breath that signaled his reluctant acquiescence to the situation at last, J.J. returned the smile and settled back to watch the movie.
Harm noticed and caught Kayla’s eye with a grin, as if to say,
he’s going to be all right.
Lee retrieved two bags of popcorn from the microwave and passed the bowls around as the talk settled on the twists and turns of the thriller movie. Everybody voiced an opinion and argued amicably as to how the intricate plot would conclude.
The day continued in pleasant serenity. After the movie, Kayla, yawning, retired to her bedroom for a nap. Each man followed her retreat from the room with appreciative eyes.
Only Harm was smiling, thinking ahead to his upcoming Monday night with her, only a few hours away.
Lee was savoring the memory of their last Tuesday night together and thinking he intended to repeat their next night together exactly the same way.
Luke was thinking of the new song he had written for her and was impatiently waiting for his Wednesday night coupling time when he could sing to her.
J.J. was gritting his teeth and hating Sunday.
CHAPTER 8
Harm and J.J’s first
ménage a trois
Monday was an exceptionally trying day for Kayla. When her last patient was ushered in, she had to take a deep breath to maintain her calm facade.
She always scheduled this patient last because, while she pretended to be enthralled with what the patient was saying, Kayla could mentally escape into what she knew was waiting for her at home. It only took an occasional “really?” or “please go on” to keep the woman satisfied and talking.
The patient was the whining multimillionaire heiress, Lucinda Rainey, whom Kayla managed to tolerate—but just barely, because the narcissistic woman was boringly predictable. She always spent her hour lamenting the fact that she had reached that “line-in-the-sand age,” as she called it.
Divorced for twenty years and obviously having extensively played the sexual field in her younger days, Lucinda had never had trouble attracting men until a few years ago.
So she always said.
And after declaring that, she would tearfully repeat, every time at every session, “Guess I’ve reached that stage in life where men no longer whistle at me. That makes me feel old even though I’ve spent a fortune on liposuction, tummy tucks, collagen injections, and face lifts.”
And then came the inevitable question. “Do you think I look my age, Dr. Saradon?”
Kayla managed to maintain her smiling facade as she answered the way she knew the client expected. “No, not at all. You are still very striking.”
When, in fact, she thought Mrs. Rainey’s collagen-injected and rigidly over-stretched skin lent her the look of an aged and surprised storefront mannequin.
More than once during the session, Kayla had to bite her tongue to keep from saying, “You crossed that line in the sand at least ten years ago. You’re seventy-six. Buy yourself a young stud or, if you don’t already have one, get an artificial vibrating cock. ”
But then again, Kayla suddenly wondered in a flash of stark clarity,
will I be like this at seventy-six? Is my resentment of her fueled by my own unspoken inadequacies and fears of aging and becoming just another frustrated nonentity? Will my gorgeous mates no longer want me when I turn her age? Maybe they’ll be long gone by then and I’ll be just like her—alone, horny, and unsatisfied.
Lost in morose thoughts, Kayla got through the hour-long session without realizing it. Mrs. Rainey herself glanced at her diamond-studded watch and declared, “Guess my time is up. It sure helps talking with you, Dr. Saradon.”
“I’m glad you find it so, Mrs. Rainey. Shall I pencil you in for the same time next week?”
“Yes, indeed. Talking with you makes my day.”
As she walked her to the door, Kayla was thinking,
sure doesn’t make mine. And it’s happening more and more lately.
On her way home, Kayla let her mind run ahead to her night with Harm. He always could sense when the day had overwhelmed her, and he always knew just how to make the unsettling, almost depressing moods disappear.
She pulled her Lexus into the driveway, activated the remote garage opener, and rolled into the enclosure. As she switched the engine off, Kayla was horrified to find herself almost tearing up with self-pity.
What is wrong with me?
For a minute she just sat there, pushing the dreary day to the back of her mind, trying to tamp down her emotions and struggling to keep the stark realities of the outside world from robbing her of the joys waiting inside her home.
No sooner had she stepped inside, than all of her partners were there to greet her, as always, repeating the ritual of taking her shoes and suit coat and giving her welcome-home hugs and kisses. She accepted their comforting with a relieved sigh.
As though he had read her troubled mind, Harm immediately handed her a glass of her favorite wine.
“Bless you, Harm,” she said as she took a long swallow. “Um, just what I needed. You always seem to know.”
“Purely selfish on my part,” he confessed with a grin. “Want you relaxed and ready for our night.”
“I’m always ready for our night,” she stated as she gave him a quick kiss before turning to the others.
Addressing them all, she asked, “So tell me, how was your day?”
One by one they related what had happened during the day.
Lee said he had received a call from his former manager begging him to go back in the ring for at least one highly touted match, assuring him that his devoted followers were still out there, asking where he was and wanting to see him. Then he added that his current manager thought that one last fight would generate interest in the upcoming Food Network show. He had declined.
Luke declared he had tweaked the new song he had written for her and was looking forward to hearing what she thought of it.
J.J. had done nothing much, he proclaimed in a subdued, lackadaisical tone. He’d spent most of his day doing inventory at the large commercial pool servicing company he had recently starting working for, preferring to make some spending money on his own. His tone implied that the day had sucked.
Kayla looked at J.J. and smiled. She could tell he hadn’t completely shaken his disappointment from Sunday. She wondered what she could do to settle his mind. The last thing she wanted was for her wonderful, sexy Latin lover to become dissatisfied enough that he would want to leave.
