“But we've already met.”

“I know.” He'd read a word once used to describe the sunrise, and it jumped to his mind when she smiled in that moment—resplendent. “But I'd like to introduce you as the man I'm going to marry.”

And for the first time he felt free. Free of the sin he had feared.

Free to love this woman for the rest of his life.

Dear Reader,

I'm thrilled that you've taken time out of your busy schedule to share this adventure with Nate, Danielle and me. Both Nate and Danielle struggle with fear throughout the story, and as I was writing the book, I spent a lot of time worrying about my own fears. But God was working in my heart, teaching me that He is still bigger than anything weighing on my heart.

My prayer is that, like Nate and Danielle, you'll discover that God is the One who conquers fear. When you face uncertainties, I hope that you'll turn to Him and see that His faithfulness never ends.

I love hearing from my readers. You can visit my Web site at www.lizjohnsonbooks.com or e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks again for joining me on this adventure. I hope we have many more to come.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
  1. Who is your favorite character? Why?
  2. In the prologue, Danielle loses someone very close to her. Have you lost a loved one? How did you identify with Danielle's reaction to this loss? How was it different for you?
  3. While we don't see too much of Andy, we know he's played a big role in Danielle's life. Who has been a caretaker, encourager, mentor and/or friend like that to you?
  4. Who in the story do you most identify with?
  5. Early on in the story Danielle is a distraction to Nate, who thinks he has more important things to focus on. Of course, she turns out be who he should have been focused on the whole time. What things in your life started as distractions until you realized that God wanted you to focus on them?
  6. Have you ever had something unexpectedly restored to you like Danielle's father is to her? What was your reaction?
  7. Nate's father and grandfather have left him a legacy of sin that he feels certain he will repeat. What legacies do you feel your family has passed to you? Are there positive traits that have been passed to you?
  8. Danielle tries to tell Nate the truth—that he is not like his father or grandfather. But Nate isn't ready to hear it. Have you ever tried to tell someone a truth they weren't ready to hear? Has someone tried to tell you something you weren't prepared to hear? How did that turn out?
  9. During Nate and Danielle's big fight about their future, whose side were you on? Why do you think you sided with him/her?
  10. Do you identify with Nate's desire to be in control? Like Nate, have you reached a point where you realized that God has to be the One in charge? How has that changed your life?
  11. Is there something that you're holding on to, refusing to give God control of? What's holding you back?
  12. Most of us will never know what it's like to have an assassin chasing us, but we probably know what it's like to have other kinds of fear weighing us down. How has God made His presence known in your fears?
