Auction Online

E-Bay is probably the biggest seller online, but others are out there too. Search “art sales” for the latest group of online sales sites.

In my frame shop, I have noticed that more people are bringing in art they bought online. Internet sales are increasing. It may be a great way to get started.

I have sold art online, but usually the shoppers are looking for a bargain. You also must worry about shipping — the costs, the logistics — if you sell to buyers around the world.

Connect with Unexpected Venues

This may sound odd, but look for places to show your art that complement the art. Use your artistic creativity to think of places that fit with a group of paintings. Keep in mind that you’re not imposing on the makeshift art venue; you’re actually providing a service in giving your host an event that helps raise awareness of the business or organization.

Approach a nature center, an animal shelter, a bookstore, a childcare center, a sporting goods store — you name it. The places to show your art are limited only by your creativity.
