“Yea, I was doing some research on your signature you put on me and I came across this symbol that I think clearly fits you. I sketched it
in terms of you.

“In terms of me?”

“I would explain but you never explained to me what yours meant in terms of me. I figured out the meaning of it all but I’m completely stumped about the
in terms of you
part. So unless you plan to tell me what your meaning is, I will not tell you mine.”

“Wow, childish much? I know what the basics of the symbol means but could you elaborate on why you think it fits me.”

“Sure, because you are powerful and a victor.”

“Is that all?” She smiled.

“No, but it is all I will elaborate on right now. Maybe someday if you explain what is tattooed on me I will enlighten you.” She knew a lot about what the symbol meant and it flew through her head. The horse guided and protected a warrior through battle. It also was the symbol of The Horse Goddess; Macha. It was said that after her father died he could not claim the throne, so she did. Her uncles; the other rotating kings, refused to have a women claim the throne and a fight ensued and she won, becoming Queen. Also 'mesrad machae meant the heads of men that have been slaughter, one of the three morrigna; raven women who instigated battle' as per se in medieval manuscripts. Which she thought was fitting in terms of Ayden also.

“Well?”

“Okay, did you have a place in mind that you’d like to tattoo it?”

“There is a couple. In between your shoulder blades or on your shoulder.” He ran his finger in a circle around her shoulder. “Personally I would like it here, to me it seems like a warriors spot and I think it would be sexiest on you right here.”

“Oh, because I’m going for sexiest?”

“I think
its fitting right here is really all. Like a shield for a warrior.”

“Yeah, I think so too. Can you even tattoo?”

“I can draw, I did draw the picture, do
you
think I could tattoo it?”

“Have you ever tattooed before?”

“No.”

“And you want me to allow you to attempt it first on me
in
a spot that will be visible for everyone to see?”

“Yea, why not?”

“Jocelyn, do you know where the dummy is?”

“In the closet, I’ll grab it.”

“I thought you were talking about me.”

“No, we have an actual practice dummy, not really a person just a block resembling skin. You can try there first. Draw a star; an
equal
star if you can do that on your first attempt, I’ll allow you to mark me.”

“Huh! An equal star actually makes since.” He went to it and to Trey’s surprise it was an equally perfect star.

“Okay, have at it. Gwen, Jocelyn you mind locking up and turning off the open signs. I really don’t want any distractions for him to mess up with, it’s going on my skin for life.”

“Yeah, no problem. We’re gonna take off also, head down to the bar for a couple drinks considering we won’t have any customers.” Gwen says.

“K, chic’s thank you.”

“Have fun!” Jos laughs, and off they went.

Trey settled in, took a breath and locked eyes with Ayden. “I’ll trust for you to do your best, mark my skin for life and fuck up; will be your worst sin.”

“You have my word, I will do my best.” She nodded her head once than laid it back looking into the face of the man that was about to mark her
; that was about to cause her physical pain. When the gun touched down she made an 'mmm' sound of pleasure which completely threw him off and made him stop to look in her eyes. “You like the pain, you turn it to pleasure.”

“In a time like this, yes. There are a few other things that I turn pain into depending on the situation. Now, you gonna get on with it or what?”

“Yea, sorry.” He started again with more of a smile while she stared into the face of her inflictor. He enjoyed what he was doing a little more and she noticed. There was something different in his look that intrigued her. There was more to his confidence than she has wanted to believe. ‘Have I lied to myself about him? Na.’ She threw the thought out and faced the pain with pleasure. After fifteen minutes he stopped, “Do you want me to finish or save the rest for tomorrow?”

“I don’t like things unfinished, so yes, please do.” He laughed and began again. Her need to finish what was started was more than her need for pain and he liked that about her. He hoped that it was also a quality within himself. Yes, he loved the pain and his tats were not finished but it was the important things that needed to be finished; like college and making something of himself and now; to finish what his heart started with Trey.

After a little over an hour he finished and smiled, happy with his work. He turned to look at Trey and swore she was almost asleep. ‘What girl could fall asleep to getting a tattoo,’ he thought but then she whispered, “I like you put the flames for your name.”

“You saw that?”

“I did.”

“Why do you like it?”

“Because you put flames and not your name, didn’t I just say that?”

“Yeah, yea I guess you did.” She was still leaning back against the chair when he leaned in to kiss her in his usual spot. “Goodnight, my healing fighter.”

“Goodnight, Ayden.” She addressed him for the first time and there was a certain respect in her voice for him. He wasn’t going to take advantage of her obvious turn on and he could draw, tattoo and fight. Or so she’s heard he could fight, she will have to see that for herself.

He let himself out and thanked that he didn’t have to work. The feeling he had at the moment just made him want to curl up with her on that chair just to hold her and give his love, putting her to sleep. He went straight to his bed instead unable to do that yet with her. The second he laid down and closed his eyes he could almost feel her and instantly fell asleep.

She couldn’t get up, she couldn’t move. She was so at peace for the first time since he came into her life and it was what he did that gave her that peace: the pain he inflicted on her was different, his feeling of doing it was different. She wound up falling asleep right where she laid and woke up a few hours later uncomfortable yet she was extremely comfortable. She went upstairs and crawled into her bed and fell asleep to thoughts of him in her head.

The next day they both walked through the day with an ease. They both made progress with each other the night before that set both their minds to that ease. When he showed up for his tat that night, they sat in silence as she marked him. He thanked her in his usual way; a kiss on the cheek. Paying Gwen he walked out and waiting for Trey to go on her run. He stayed at a good pace behind her and decided today was a better day than any. He front flipped off a car hood and landed next to her. She didn’t even flinch, she kept running while she yelled, “I was wondering when you were finally gonna catch up, it’s been like a week.”

“Ha, I was only waiting to see if you would change your routine. I could a caught up when you sailed past me the first night we met.” That made her stop dead. She didn’t realize he saw her then.

“The first night we met?”

“Yea, the one where you told me you wanted to prop me up like a souvenir to have me always in your sight.”

“I told you, huh?”

“Yup!”

“Well than you better start shining soon because I only like shinny toys. Though I do have a problem with breaking them, then they become useless to me so I throw them away like day old bread.”

“My point is to shine for…you,” Then he leaned in close, grabbing her biceps and whispered in her ear, “and that’s strike two, please don’t make a third strike or your out and
honny,
I wanna see you run all the bases and make it a home run.”

‘Why not play his game, he wants it dirty, he’ll get it dirty,’ she thought. If he won’t give her a fair fight, she won’t give him one. She grabbed his hips, caressing while she whispered in his ear, “How about I just run? It is what I do best!” She pressed fully against him lightly bit then kissed the tender spot below his ear.

His body tensed, his hands latched onto her tighter, but she spun from his grips and ran. He yelled as he ran after her, “People only run when their scared. What are you scared of, Trey?”

“Certainly not a boy like you, Ayden!” Saying his name in a laughing disgust. He only gave a ‘ha
' in response. They ran, jumped, kicked, spun, an avoided, yelling ‘Ha’s' to each other. She came to a stop in front of the bar he works at and says, “Considering your following me like a
stalker
I wound up in front of the bar instead of home. This is how it’s going to happen; I’ll go in, order
one
drink and walk out without you following.”

“I just don’t see that happening. This is how I think it is going to happen; You’ll go in, I’ll follow and order you a drink, we’ll get talking because you’ve had me on your mind endlessly since that first time I sat in your chair and
sighed
and your curiosity is killing the pussy cat you are then you’ll let me order you a second drink, you’ll laugh and have fun and I’ll walk you home entertaining you all the way, kiss you on
my spot,
goodnight then be on my way, happier than I ever have been.”

‘His spot, my healing fighter, stalker, my endless curio
sity, cocky and possessive much,’ she thought. She nodded her head once then he opened the door gesturing her in. He stepped in next to her slipping his hand into hers, she shook her head just enough for him to notice and a smirk plastered both their faces. She ordered a shot of Jack, he ordered the same. With their hands still together she turned to face him with a grand smile on display. She clinked her glass to his, rolled it on her bottom lip seductively staring him in the eyes, slammed it back, set it on the bar and turned her back to him releasing his hand and walking out without a glance back and smiled when she heard him comment, “Huh!”

She won tonight but was she just lying to herself. Didn’t she really enjoy
it? ‘Breath don’t deny.’ Was she denying her feeling for him that seem to be growing? “Yeah, growing into more hate.” She spit out walking into her house. She hated she had to play his game, yea she won but winning wasn’t everything, succeeding is and that’s what she had to do. She would handle this stupid game (war) and be the queen of her throne just like Macha; horse goddess of victory.

He walked a slow pace home, he was for sure he was putting a dent in her protective shield but then she proved him wrong. He hit his bed in defeat once again. Would he have to start all over now that she rebuild the dents; threw up stronger shields. Was it even a dent or was she just playing along so she could
win
again? She liked his touch, she had to like his sigh with pain ‘because she did do the same somewhat like that. Maybe she did win as she walked away but he was pretty certain he was winning the actual prize.  Either way this women was strong and he had to find a way to overpower her strength.

Chapter
Eight:

Fights
And More Fights

She pumped herself up with her pep talk and let the win of last night build her confidence. She would pass this test with flying colors. She knew she was slightly attracted to him but then she also knew that in a multiple choice question there was always one other answer that questioned your judgment; an answer meant to throw you off. She would not let him question what she knows is the right answer because she has the power of knowledge. The attraction was just temptation to choice the wrong answer but she would choose right; her first choice, success, no men. She went about her day happy, she was still in complete control of everything and she was living a life she created for herself and loved every minute of it. Her test of life is going exactly like she planed; even better and she would not let one question throw her off acing
her
test.

He was a bit bent when he woke; unsure if he made any real progress with the women his heart desired. But he would not let that unsureness put a hitch in his overall plan. He would not be a loser, he would make something of himself and he will do it all to get the girl and prove his doubts wrong. He knew he was strong; that his strength is the pencil in his test. He would not let it break, he would not cause it to throw off his plan in getting the best grade. Knowledge is only as good as the tools, he can be smart but if he doesn’t have a reliable tool to circle the answers than he will fail. He has to rely on his strength to make it through; to win the prize for not just passing but being the best possible he could.

She met the girls for lunch at Tammy’s with an agenda; to discuss the issues of the fights, rumors and new bloods. “I think it will be beneficial for a lot of reasons if we have fights once a week.”

“What are the reasons? Because we discussed when all this first started that we would not do them once a week because of the danger of getting busted and our number one priority was to keep them going, not get to caught up in the power of it.” Gwen says.
