Before I even finish
ed my
statement,
Alex leaned
in,
licked my neck and grabbed
the
saltshaker
.
He
added
salt to the spot he licked, pouring two more shots and placing a
lemon in my mouth. He then licked
the salt from my neck, but not a l
ick, more
like
sucking
.
He
took
t
he shot
,
and with his
mouth,
grabbed
the
lemon from mine. When he removed
the lemon from his
mouth,
I
reached
up and grab
bed
his
shirt,
pulling him into me. I immediately invade
d
his mouth with my tongue. Alex’s hands start
ed
moving up my t
highs to my skirt. He then picked
me up and
placed
me on his lap. Alex’s
hand wa
s
now
traveling
back
up my thigh
, under my skirt
and the other
hand
wa
s inside the back
of my shirt. I moan
ed into his mouth, my body
aching and burning with his touch
. I
momentarily
broke
the
kiss,
trying to catch my breath
, but end
ed
up
gather
ing myself and becoming
aware of my surroundings
. Shit, what was
I
doing?
I
was
in public for Christ
sake
. I immediately pull
ed
away and crawl
ed
off his lap. I reach
ed
out and grab
bed the other
shot, throwing
my head back and
swallowing
.

Without
thinking,
I stoo
d up and
clutched
Alex’s hand. I immediately
dragged
him onto
the dance floor. There was no way I could dance alone with
him, because
I had
no control
over
my body
at that moment
. I start
ed
looking for Sam and
Derek.
After
a few
minutes,
I spot
ted
them. Letting go of Alex’s
hand,
I join
ed
Sam and Derek dancing. We form
ed
a small circl
e on the dance floor. It remained that
way for the rest of the night. I figured safe
ty in numbers, because who knew
what I would be willing to do with this man in the middle of a club. I clearly had no control when left alone with him.

A little after two in the
morning,
we manage
d
to
leave
the club. My feet were
killing me
and tha
nks to the many
shots,
my head was
fuzzy
.
In the limo,
Sam was
retelling a story about some of the girls and a pick u
p line one used on Derek. We were
all laughing hard and I fe
lt
tears running do
wn my face from laughing
. Alex reached over and wiped
them from my checks. He i
mmediately removed
his hand
once he was done. When we were
getting out of the
car,
Derek
started
to speak, “
Well,
Ms.
Porter,
I’
m
happy to announce you still have it. Between you and Sam, we had every guy in the place jealous
that
you two were with us.”

I start
ed to
laugh,
knowing he wa
s blowing
smoke up my ass. Alex then looked
at me, “Seriously, I thought I was going to get into more th
a
n the one fight tonight.”

What,
you got into a fight
tonight?
Are you
crazy?
Haven’t you learned anything
in the last twelve years? Are we
going to be looking
at a lawsuit?” Without wait
ing for a
response,
Sam continued
, “
Shit, should I ca
ll Rick in the morning?” Sam had
a pissed off look on her face.

Actually,
it was more Abby’s
fight.
I just picked the asshole up of
f
the floor and helped him
up,
while informing him it was best to stay clear of Abby the rest of the evening
.”
Alex then shot
me a half smile.

All eyes now looked
at me
and I felt the wind being
knocked o
ut of me. “
What?
It
was nothing, really nothing.” Sam and Derek look
ed
at me
as if
they d
idn
’t believe a word I was
saying.

Someone grabbed me so I kneed him. Alex was standing right there after it happened.
Seriously,
it’s not a big deal.” I look
ed up at
Alex,
who wa
s still looking at
me.
Moments
later,
I
move
d
my eyes over to
Derek,
waiting on
him to say something
.

Christ,
I missed that? Seeing a girl kick a guy’s ass is so hot.” I knew Derek would lighten the mood. I walk
ed
over, placed my arm around his waist,
and walk
ed
with him
into the hotel. Sam and Alex followed
us to the elevators.

As we
waited,
I realize
d this was the last time
that
I would
see either one of them. I lean
ed over and ga
ve Sam a hu
g. “What was that for?” Sam
asked,
looking at me
as if
I was
a
drunken
idiot.

“Well, I realized this is the last time I am going to see you guys.

Sam looked
back at
me,
this time with a smile on her face. “We fly out at noon tomorrow and I haven’t thought about that. I had so much fun today. We
’ve
n
ever
done anything like this on tour.” Not knowing if the meaning behind it was they never had fun little side trips on tour or that Sam didn’t take the ti
me to meet the girls Alex brought
back to the room on tour.
“Plus, I’m sure we’ll be seeing each
other again.” This
time,
Sam shot
a wink in my direction.

I reach
ed
over, hugged Sam again,
and
then I
hear
d
t
he elevator doors opening. I knew if we lived closer, Sam wa
s someone I would love to be friends with and have in my li
fe. She wa
s sweet and yet honest, just like Derek and Lexi,
well,
Derek on a good day.

We all
piled
in
to the elevator and Derek thanked
Alex for the lun
ch, game and club. Derek then gave
Alex his
business
card as he walk
ed
off the elevator. “I’ll call you in the
morning,
Abbs.
We
ca
n do brunch before we
head in separate
ways”

Sounds good, but not before ten,
” I shout
ed
back as the elevator doors
were
closing.

Then the
elevator stopped
at my floor. I smile
d at Sam and said
good-bye
. When I
started
to say bye to
Alex,
he
wa
s already out of the elevator. “What are you doing?”

“I’m being a gentleman and walking you to your room.” Lookin
g back at the
elevator,
he spoke
to Sam, “Sammy, I’ll see you in a bit.”

I’m sure you will,” I
heard,
as the
elevator
doors were
closing.

8.

Standing outside my room, I pull
ed
my room key card out of my clutch. I lean
ed
against the door and look
ed
up at Alex. “You
know,
you didn’t have to walk me to my door. I think I could have managed from the elevator to the hotel room door.”

“Well, I wanted to say bye. You seemed to say
bye
to Sam, but I was feeling a bit left out.”

“I didn’t mean for that to
happen.
I guess I wasn’t sure how to say bye to you and by not saying
it,
I guess I was trying to prolong it a bit.”

“Prolongin
g it a bit, I like the sound of that.” Alex reached
over, grabbed the key card from my hand,
and slid it into the slot. He opened the door and waited
for me to enter. I walk
ed
into the room, not sure what to do next.
I
had
never been in
a situation like
this.
Christ,
I
hadn’t
been single since I was sixteen.

Unsure of what to do,
I walk
ed
in and set my purse down on the dresser by the
TV
. I tur
n
ed
and
saw myself in
the
mirror.
Oh,
my freaking
god
.
My
eyes look
ed
like raccoon eyes. Crap, I
looked
like a hot
mess.
So
much for whatever look I was trying to pull
off
with the eye make-up. I turn
ed
to Alex, “Why don’t you have a seat, I need to wash my face real quick.” I walk
ed
past him and slip
ped
into the bathroom. I quickly wash
ed
my face, brush
ed
my teeth and spray
ed
a little body
spray
on.
I knew I stu
nk from all that dancing.
I wanted to take a hot shower, but knew Alex was in the room and I said I was only washing my face.

When I exit
ed the
bathroom,
Alex wa
s lying on the bed p
ropped up o
n a few pill
ows with his shirt off. The
TV
was off and he immediately turned and smiled
at me when I step
ped
out into the small hallway in the room.
I couldn
’t help but smile back at him. Inste
ad of walking towards
him,
I took
a minute to take all of him in
.
The lights from the city of Detroit
shined
in through the hotel window, illuminating him just enough.
I look
ed
at his chiseled chest, toned arm
s,
six-pack
and the
tattoos, those that
could
be made out,
covering both
his
ar
ms and chest. I knew there were
more on his back and hope
d at some
point,
I’d
be able to get a
better look at those too. Who was I
kidding?
I didn
’t want to look at
them. What I really
wanted
to
do was
trace each and everyone with my tongue.
