“Hmmm...” I mumbled.

“You probably think it’s silly, but sometimes it’s what gets me through.”

“What? Wait a minute... I don’t think it’s silly. It’s really nice. I have two sisters, so I thought about them when you said that.”

“Oh. Okay.” She took a step back, out of my embrace. I wasn’t sure if she was a little uncomfortable, or assessing me. “Well, I wanted to tell you and apologize. And you don’t need to be sorry about what happened between us.”

“I don’t?”

“No. We’re adults, and to be honest, I—um—I had fun.”

This conversation was getting better and better. I couldn’t resist taking a step closer to her. “Well I’m glad you think so. I was wondering, can I take you out to lunch after work today? I’d love to get to know more about you. If you’re up for it.”

“Are you asking me out on a date, Drew Masterson?”

“Yes. I am. I know we work these early hours, so I figured lunch. Unless you want to do dinner on Friday. Or a movie. Or both. Whatever you like.”

“I think so. I mean, yes. I’d like that. But can it be later? I need to figure out what to do with this ticket! I still can’t believe I won!”

“Definitely, anytime at all. I’m excited for you. You just let me know when. Can I have your number?”

“Sure,” she answered, and pulled out her phone. “Give me yours too. I’ll put in here. I can only handle keeping track one piece of paper right now.”

We exchanged phones and put our numbers into each other’s phone contact lists. As I took my phone back and put it in my pocket, I couldn’t help notice how close she was to me. All I wanted to do was get closer; smell her hair; kiss her and put my hands all over her gorgeous body. But we were at work, so I stood and just let the image of her soak in.

She held my gaze for a second, and what she did next surprised me. She walked back to my dressing room door, and turned the doorknob.

“See you later, Leslie,” I said.

I thought she was going back to her cubicle. Apparently not.

“I’m not leaving yet. I’m just checking something.”

“What’s that?”

“Making sure no one can distract us,” she answered. “I just locked it.”

“Oh. And why did you do that?”

She walked back to me and placed one hand on my chest. “So no one can see us.”

Her eyes were full of daring, so sensuous; piercing mine as though she sought some answers.

“I’m—I don’t know—is everything alright, Leslie?”

She tiptoed and whispered into my ear, “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to make out at work. Maybe having this winning ticket makes me more brave. Or maybe it’s you, Drew.”

I was in a trance from her voice. She let out a breath on my neck and took my hand, guiding me to the counter at one side of the room.

“You’re going to lift me up and put me on this counter, Drew. And then you’re going to take me right there.”

I could barely believe the zeal and authority in her voice when she said it. But who was I to turn down a beautiful woman. I just hoped we wouldn’t get caught.

Chapter Five

Leslie

I
’m not sure what came over me, asking Drew to make love to me in his dressing room. Something about the tenderness in his eyes when he listened to me just unleashed a deep desire to be close to him.
Fuck!
I had a weird and crazy way of expressing that I was falling for him
.

“I could never say no to you, Leslie.” He lowered his head and pulled my hair aside to kiss my neck ever so gently.

His touch was electric. That kiss sent a wild heat straight to my core. I leaned back on the counter and placed my hands on his shoulder. He took the signal and lifted me up, moving between my legs to get closer. I felt free with him, for reasons I still didn’t understand. But reasons didn’t matter. I enjoyed being in the moment with him.

I took his hands and placed each one on my breasts. He moaned aloud and ducked his head to one breast, blowing through my shirt. I loved his touch, but I needed him closer. I pushed him away gently and pulled my shirt over my head.

“Is this better?” I asked, undoing the clasp of my bra to give him full access. He didn’t have to answer. I could see his erection pressing against his zipper. It stirred up the longing I had felt when he told me how happy he was that I had found the ticket. I let his hands roam on my breasts, and arched my back, when he ducked down again to place his lips on one nipple. He licked and teased and sucked as my legs wrapped around his hips.

“God, I want you so bad, Drew,” I said, and lifted his head to look in his eyes.

“Fuck,” he answered in a deep whisper. “Leslie. I want you too. I want to taste you and please you, and then I want to be inside you.”

I groaned and kissed him as I undid his suit jacket buttons and peeled it off him. He kissed me back with a fierceness I was becoming addicted to. His tongue invaded my mouth, claiming every part of me as he explored.

“Take me right here, Drew,” I hummed into his mouth.

He pulled out of the kiss and leaned me back on the counter. I felt his hands slide up under my skirt. It felt so hot, and so reckless as he gripped my panties and pulled them off.

Our eyes locked as he bent forward and lowered his head to my mound.

His strong hands pulled me to the edge of the counter, positioning me for his impending attack on my pussy. He squeezed the top of my thighs and slid his tongue over my already throbbing clit. It felt like I died and went to heaven. I watched as his head dipped and rose between my legs, and every so often, our eyes would lock, and my eyes would share the depth of my need for more.

His tongue never left my aching clit, and I was writhing with every lick. I bucked my hips for more contact every time he passed over the spot that drove me insane. I wanted to feel him enter my channel.  I spread my legs wider, absorbed in the moment, feeling my pleasure and need build to dizzying heights.

He licked and laved, sending waves of pleasure through me. He moved his tongue in a rhythmic assault, and slid three fingers deep inside to give me a hint as to what his cock would do before long. I could scream from pleasure, but couldn’t as we were at the office.

“If you keep that up you’re going to make me scream, Drew. I need you to fuck me right now,” I begged.

His intense eyes darkened as he stood up and undid his belt and zippers, letting his slacks fall to the floor and unleashing his thick, hard cock. I could see his single-focused need, and I couldn’t wait to feel him inside me. I moaned out loud as he spread my legs and positioned him massive erection to enter me.

I lifted my head from the counter to look at him, and he stopped.

“You’re so wet, Leslie,” he moaned deeply. “I can’t wait to be inside you.”

“Come inside me and fuck me hard, Drew,” I begged desperately, grabbing his hips to try and pull him inside me.

I wrapped my legs around his waist to pull him in as he took the signal. He grasped my hips and lifted me to meet him as he slid his hard cock into my soaked channel. His thrusts were so gentle at first, but I couldn’t wait. I begged him to take me hard and could feel him build up and deliver powerful thrusts that buried so deep into me I could yell.

He reached one hand up to my nipple and the other lifted one of my legs over his shoulder as he slammed his manhood into me, right to the root. It was pure, intoxicating pleasure that sent me reeling to another world as I felt my climax rising.

“I’m gonna come, Leslie,” he growled softly, holding back what could have been a loud wail that would have pierced through every room of the station.

I bit down on my lip to try and subdue the scream that my orgasm brought forth, coming as his climax released into me, making my body quake uncontrollably. He lowered his body on top of me, and I wrapped my arms around his chest and let my leg drop. It felt amazing to be completely satiated at work. I guess I was being selfish—it wouldn’t matter if I got fired because I had a winning ticket in my purse; and everything seemed surreal.

“That was so good, it would be worth it if we got in trouble,” he whispered in my ear. I laughed softly and basked in the moment.

“Totally. We should get up,” I said after I recovered, but honestly, I could stay there all day.

Drew lifted himself off and kissed my cheek. “I have a confession to make.”

“What’s that?”

“I want you again, Leslie. So fucking bad. Can I see you later?”

“I want you too,” I said as he helped me down from the counter. “I just don’t know how the day will go yet. Can I call you?”

“Of course.”

We got dressed quickly, and I headed out to get myself straightened out in the ladies room.

T
he picture of Luke had been on my desk since the day he told me he was going into the armed forces. When he told me the news, I felt abandoned. Our dad had taken off when I was eight years old, and Luke was four. I thought that was bad, but I didn’t think things could get any worse when our mother died of cancer two weeks after I turned eighteen. Luke and I ended up living with our aunt, and God bless her—she took care of us like we were one of her kids.

Still, Luke was everything to me. I stayed local to attend college just so we could be close as he got through high school. A month after he graduated, he announced he was joining the army. It scared me beyond words. I felt like I could easily go off the deep end if I lost him too, but it was what he wanted, so I had to stay strong.

Whenever he would come home, it would be that much harder to say goodbye when he had to leave. I always feared the worst. As much as I didn’t want to stress out about the inevitable, I found myself worrying that there’d be a day he would not come home. I had no idea when he was home for Christmas one year that he wouldn’t be going back. He was in the accident, and four days later, he was gone. It was Christmas Eve. I couldn’t celebrate the holidays after that.

I glanced at the picture, remembering the sound of his laugh. We were so close. I knew his passing changed me. I couldn’t take risks after he was gone. It was hard to smile for so long. Thank God for Monica back then. She pulled me out of the worst depression. She kept reminding me he would want me to live. That’s what changed my outlook.

I put the picture down and reached for my phone. It was time to live out loud and celebrate for Luke.

The number of the lottery office rang several times. I had thought about making the call from my car. The staff were busy getting ready for the mid-morning news show, so only a few people were around. I could barely stay in my chair as the automated prompts led me to a live person.

“Hello, this is Texas Lotto, where we can make your millionaire dreams come true. Shari speaking. How may I help you?”

“Hello. I need to speak to someone about a winning ticket.”

“Just a minute, please.” I heard a clicking noise and then the sound of background music.

I was humming along until it clicked again.

“This is Matthew Branch, how may I help you?”

“Hello, Mr. Branch. I’m calling to discuss my winning ticket. I won the lottery on Sunday night! The twenty-eight million dollar jackpot!”

I could hear my heart beating in my chest. I tried to be quiet, but it was impossible.

“Congratulations, ma’am! You must be excited.”

“That I am.”

“Would you mind telling me your name?”

“Miss Adams... Leslie Adams.”

“Congratulations, Ms. Adams. Did you know only one winning ticket was sold?”

“I heard,” I replied ecstatically. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. “So how do I start the process to get my winnings?”

“You’re doing it right now, ma’am. You let us know by phone and we set up an appointment for you to come to our Austin headquarters in person. And you make sure you bring your ticket and two pieces of identification to the appointment. As you may know, we may conduct a short press conference at that time.”

“Okay. That’s what I read on the website. So when is the soonest appointment? I don’t want to lose this ticket or anything.”
If he only knew.

“Ma’am, just for our records, what is your place of employment?”

“I work at Dallas News Channel 4.”

Then you may be in luck. We’re doing a pilot lottery claim process for people who live further away from Austin. There’s a field crew in Dallas for the next three days. Would you be open to having them come to you?”

I thought for a moment. I didn’t want them at my house. The place was so crappy.

“How about down at the TV station? Will that work?”

“That would be fantastic,” he replied. “Maybe you can convince your producer to cover highlights of the interview? Viewers would love it, and we would air it on several state channels.”

I didn’t know if that was something I would want to do, but it would give me a chance to be onscreen. And how could Mr. Bartley say no to getting extra coverage for the station across all of Texas?

“That should work. I’ll confirm with my boss and can phone you back to let you know. Can someone be here on Tuesday at ten thirty? That way it won’t get in the way of my job, or the normal news schedule.”

“Sure. Let me know if it’s a go and we’ll send the team to you. Thank you, Miss Adams. Have a great day!”

I disconnected the call. I needed to tell Mr. Barkley. He would definitely need a little notice to coordinate an onsite lottery TV crew and a live interview. And the bigger question he might have was the possibility that I might leave after that interview and never return. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to quit, but winning this kind of money makes people think. I had to keep my options open.

Chapter Six

Drew

I
hadn’t spoken to Leslie since she told me she won the lottery yesterday. I was starting to think about her all the time. I didn’t know if she felt the same way, but to take the risk we did in my dressing room took guts. I admired her for that. A guy could hope. My day at work was over and I was looking forward to kicking back as soon as I got home.

I walked out of the dressing room to leave, and instantly spotted the growing scene. Two cameras and a couple of different lights were shining in the faces of Leslie and a reporter. It looked like she was being interviewed. I walked closer to hear what it was about.
