Love.

Do I believe in it? Of course, I do. As a matter of fact, my mom and dad should be the spokespersons for it. Through the years, I’ve heard the romantic story of how they met, over and over. At fifteen years of age, they instantly fell in love and have been together ever since. To this day, she still calls him her perfect prince charming. When I was a little girl, my mom would tuck me in bed every night with the promise that, one day, I’d find my very own prince. Yes, you’d think I’d believe in fairy tales, that one day my handsome prince would ride in on his valiant horse and sweep me off my feet.

Yeah, right!

Yeah, I’ve fallen in love before. More times than you can count, actually. And every single time that I’ve trusted enough to give my heart away to someone, I find myself later holding it bleeding in my hands. I’m so tired of hurting. So tired of believing in a lie. And then, the day finally came where I made the decision to give up on the idea of fairy tales and to start having some fun.

Fuck Prince Charming. Fuck Happily Ever After.

NIKOLAS

Growing up, people assume that if you live in a big house and can buy anything you desire that you’re happy. People idolized my life, but I would have traded all the wealth to know what it felt like to be part of a family… to know what it felt like to be loved.

My mother loved the high life but definitely not being a mother or wife. With a cheating alcoholic husband, I guess I couldn’t blame her. Nowadays, my dad enjoys his liquor every bit as much as he enjoys his women. I’d never bothered falling in love. Honestly, what’s the point of it? Marriages are a fucking joke! And just the mere idea of a forever after? Well, it’s downright fucking hysterical! All and all, the lesson learned is that you can never trust anyone with your heart. Don’t get attached to people and you won’t hurt when they betray you or walk out the door. That’s the motto I live by, anyways.

So fuck Love. Fuck Happily Ever After. I’m living for right now!

Happy Birthday to me!

Applying another layer of my favorite lip-gloss to my lips, I give myself another check in the long mirror on my closet door. Sure, this dress screams hooker, but it’s my birthday and I’m going to have some fun! I check the time on my phone.
Shit!
I’ve got to get my ass in gear if I’m going to make it to Skylar’s house in time.

If I know that girl at all, she’s going to be dressed like a fucking nun. My best friend has a fucking killer body and yet she chooses to cover it up in some sort of salute to Walmart’s elderly fashion section. It’s why I splurged and bought her a dress for tonight. And whether she likes it or not, she’s wearing the damn thing out to the club. After the week I’ve just had, I want nothing more than to relax, flirt, and let some lucky guy make me forget everything shitty in my life for a night. Hell, I’ll take a couple of hours at this point.
