She felt his balls slap her mound and the hair on his legs roughed the backs of her thighs. But it was Oliver behind her and Adam’s cock in her and everything was pulling and twisting until her thoughts flew in all directions. Mei closed her eyes and absorbed it all, tried to make sense of it, but she was overwhelmed in sensation and sense alone was impossible.

She didn’t feel Oliver lift her, didn’t know she’d moved from her spot at the end of the bed, but suddenly Mei was lying beside Eve and Oliver was kneeling between her legs. He spread her thighs with his hands and his tongue teased every bit as effectively as his finger. So close. Not close enough. She felt the bed dip and slitted her eyes open just as Adam moved away from Eve. His cock shimmered in the low light, wet with Eve’s juices, and he turned his head and gazed directly at Mei. She felt the power in him, the absolute certainty that whatever happened tonight would be exactly right.

That she was exactly right.

He knelt behind Oliver, stroked his hand along Oliver’s flank, reached around him and found his cock. Oliver’s tongue speared Mei and he groaned against her labia. She felt the vibration race the length of her spine and settle in her womb. She glanced to her right at Eve, but Eve was sliding out of bed, reaching for something in her bag. She came up with a tube of lubricant, squeezed a huge dollop into her hand and crawled back on the bed.

Mei’s heart raced. She’d visualized this scene after Oliver fantasized about it. Saw him licking her, but was even more excited by the idea of Adam’s thick cock sliding deep inside Oliver. She raised up on her elbows as Eve carefully stroked Oliver’s butt, her fingers disappearing between his dark cheeks.

Adam let go of Oliver’s cock and spread his buttocks wide. Mei wished she could see when Eve rubbed the clear lube along his dark cleft, but she knew from Oliver’s soft moans of pleasure against her clit that Eve knew exactly what to do, especially when she took Adam’s cock in her hand, carefully slipped a condom over his shaft and guided him toward Oliver. Practically gasping for air, Mei watched, transfixed. Oliver continued licking and sucking between her legs as if they were the only two people in the room and she squirmed beneath his talented tongue.

How could he possibly continue, knowing what Adam was preparing him for? Eve held Adam’s cock, rubbing back and forth from Oliver’s balls to his ass. His tongue drove deeper, taking Mei closer to the edge and she threw her head back, giving herself over to Oliver’s lips, his tongue…his wonderful, wonderful tongue.

Mei’s reality shifted. Her mind suddenly filled with Oliver’s arousal. Her balls ached as she fought the luscious sensation of Adam’s cock pressing harder against her ass. She wanted to push back, to help him penetrate, but she was too caught up in the texture and taste between Mei’s legs. With the thickness of her swollen labia each time he caught them between his teeth and lips, the softness at the base of her erect little clit where the tip of his tongue swirled.

Only, she was Mei, wasn’t she?

No, Mei was a vessel for pleasure. She was Oliver and she was Adam, with the thick head of his cock pressing through the tight ring of muscle so slick and warm from the lube Eve had spread liberally about, sighing with the hot glove now surrounding his full length. She was Oliver, lost in the heady scents and flavors of the woman he loved. Adam again, slowly moving forward, thrusting deeper until his groin pressed against Oliver’s buttocks and their balls touched, and the shock of intimate contact linked them both.

She’d lost track of Eve, but then she felt Eve’s weight across her leg, Eve’s hair brushing her inner thigh and Oliver’s thoughts took over once again. Eve’s fingers encircled his cock, pressing, releasing, pressing again. She lay beneath Oliver, her long hair draped over Mei’s thighs and took the full length of his erection into her mouth. Her fingers caressed his balls, holding their weight, fondling the round orbs inside. She found Adam’s too, touching, stroking, raking with her fingernails along the wrinkled skin.

Mei felt it all, embraced them all, and let her body fly. Tangled into a messy heap, the four of them made love gently, reverently, touching and thrusting, tasting and licking until their thoughts melded, one upon the other.

Mei no longer identified with the lovely Asian girl in the middle. She was Oliver, she was Eve, she was Adam. She was all of them, together, a single entity defined by more than passion, by the pure physical pleasure one body could give another. Her mind no longer catalogued, no longer cared who touched what or where. She felt Adam’s slow and careful slide deep inside Oliver’s rectum, and her darker nature welcomed this forbidden pleasure. She was Eve, wrapping her lips around Oliver’s sac, tonguing each solid orb, then doing the same to Adam, comparing the difference between Adam and Oliver, the slightly tangy flavor of one, the saltier taste of the other.

The sensations built. The edge between body and mind, between sanity and the sweet release of orgasm grew more precarious. The pressure inside Mei screamed for release. She raced toward some unknown yet cataclysmic eruption of fibers and tendons and muscle. Oliver suddenly tightened his lips around her clit and sucked, hard. Adam’s hips slapped Oliver’s buttocks, driving deep, shoving him into Mei. Eve took Oliver’s cock deep into her mouth.

The night, already dark, went totally black. Mei’s body arched as orgasm swept over her, catching all of them in its powerful wake. She opened her mouth to scream, but her cry went silent, caught in the sudden, crystalline brilliance of three minds filling hers, three separate entities searching, probing, discovering.

What they learned, she had no way to understand. Their discovery left her trembling, as much with the aftermath of orgasm as the knowledge that she was not what they hoped, not what they’d expected.

She was more. So very much more, and it scared the shit out of her.

They showered, the guys first because they were faster, then Eve and Mei together. “It doesn’t make sense.” Mei wrapped her long hair in a towel while Eve dried herself off. “I know I saw the same things you saw. We were all crawling around in my head together, right?”

Eve nodded. She’d been fairly somber since they’d broken apart, each of them shaken by the power of their joined climax and the depth of their discovery. She wrapped her arms around Mei and hugged her. “Let’s wait to talk it over out there. I want the guys’ take on all this.”

Mei nodded. She grabbed a white T-shirt off the floor—Adam’s, by the size of it—and slipped it over her head. The towel came off her hair and she felt clumsy and awkward when she rewound it. Her hands wouldn’t stop shaking. She wondered if there was any champagne left.

At the same time, while her mind was spinning with a thousand questions, her body was practically humming. She’d never experienced sex like that in her life. Never had an orgasm so overwhelming. Adam must have taken her seriously when she said he’d better make it good.

With that thought in mind, it was easier to smile when she followed Eve into the bedroom. The guys had straightened the tangled sheets and remade the bed, and everything was pretty organized, considering the chaos they’d left the bed in. Adam sat in one of the chairs. Oliver stood by the window, staring out into the darkness. He’d opened the shades and the parking lot looked almost ghostly under the amber glow of the streetlights.

There was only one small light on in the room, casting all into shadows and darkness beyond the glow from the outside lights.

Mei crawled up on the bed next to Eve. When Eve’s fingers wrapped around hers, she smiled. At least now she’d find out what was going on. Adam leaned forward with his elbows planted on the table and rested his chin on his palms. “I wish Anton were here. He’d have a better understanding of what we learned. I’m going to make a leap of faith, and assume that what we think we saw inside you is exactly what you are. It’s just sort of hard to draw a definite conclusion.”

Mei shrugged. “I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I saw strange animals and rugged mountains and snow-capped peaks…memories I don’t even know about, other than in my dreams, occasionally. Were you looking into my dreams, my fantasy world? Where do all those images come from?”

“From your genetic past.” Oliver pushed himself away from the window. “I know you dream, Mei. Tell us what you dream. Describe them as carefully as you can.”

She looked from one to the other. “My dreams? You want to know what I dream about? You’re kidding, right?”

Obviously, he wasn’t. All three of them appeared deadly serious. When she tried to access their thoughts, she felt as if she’d run into a solid wall. Wasn’t this all about her telepathic abilities? Why would they shut her out now? Startled, feeling oddly cast adrift, Mei pulled back inside herself. She looked down at her fingers, unable to face even Oliver right now.

“Okay. So I have really weird dreams. Sometimes they’re like nightmares and other times they’re not, but they all seem connected. I dream a lot that I run at night. But I’m on four legs, not two. Sometimes I can taste blood, like maybe I’ve hunted and killed something.”

She thought of that now, the coppery taste she imagined in her mouth that should have disgusted her, but always made her sleep more soundly. The solid feel of her front paws hitting the ground, silently carrying her through dark forests. The more she talked, the easier it became. She’d had the same dreams, most of her life, at least since she was twelve or so, but she’d never had anyone she could tell them to.

Mei looked up from her hands and stared at her reflection in the window. It was nothing special. Merely the image of a young woman. Asian, slim and athletic looking, she sat cross-legged in the middle of a bed, but she felt as if this moment in time was pivotal and this recitation of a lifetime of dreams carried substance. As if her entire future rested on what she said and felt about her dream world.

She looked away from her reflection and chose Adam, not Oliver as her focus. “I’m always alone, but that feels as if it’s the way I’m supposed to be. Alone, usually hunting. Sometimes it feels like a jungle. It’s humid and damp, the trees are covered in vines. Other times a forest. Mostly on steep mountain cliffs where the air is icy cold.” She shrugged. “Nothing specific, and yet the images are very clear to me some of the time. More the last couple nights than ever before. I look down and see paws, but not all that clearly. I don’t remember ever being curious about myself. Merely accepting of my dreams. I haven’t ever really thought about what I was. Just that I wasn’t human.”

Adam nodded toward Oliver and smiled. Oliver looked as if he might burst out laughing. Eve reached over and grabbed Mei’s hand once again. “We have something to show you. Oliver, will you close the blinds?”

Adam pushed himself out of the chair. “You’re confirming what we saw. For some reason, you’re different than we are. Your mental signal, for want of another description, seems unfamiliar in many ways, but it might just be due to your Asian heritage. We’ll know in a couple more days when you finally shift.”

“When I what?”

Oliver glanced at Adam. Adam merely shrugged and grinned. “When you shift,” Oliver said, repeating Adam’s words. “We’re more than mere telepaths. Sweetheart, we couldn’t say anything until we were certain. Until we knew you were one of us. We aren’t actually human. We’re something more. We, all of us, and I’m including you, are Chanku.”

Chills raced down Mei’s spine and she frowned, remembering. “I picked that word out of your head a couple times. What does it mean?” She scooted forward to the edge of the bed. Oliver stepped close and took both her hands in his. “Chanku are an ancient race, a separate species actually, that appeared at some time before recorded history on the Himalayan steppes. We don’t know their origin, whether they evolved or were possibly planted here by some alien race, but they aren’t like normal humans. They have the ability to shift their body structure. To become wolves.”

Mei had to consciously tighten her jaws to shut her mouth. “You’re shittin’ me!”

Oliver glanced toward Adam. “Your turn.”

Adam tapped his long fingers on the tabletop, as if taking a moment to gather his thoughts. “At some point,” he said, “they left their homeland. Whatever the reason—climate change, a lack of good hunting—we’ll never know. But they left without realizing they left behind the very nutrients that gave them the power to shift. As they spread out across the world, far from the necessary foods their bodies needed, they became almost like other humans. Their ancestors and their amazing abilities to walk as wolves became legend, at least until their unique abilities were rediscovered. We now know that there are many Chanku among us, almost normal humans living lives of quiet desperation, unaware of their unique abilities, yet always sensing something important is missing in their lives.”

Oliver picked up the story. “Those pills Eve and I have given you? They contain the nutrients your body needs to fully develop a little gland near the base of your brain, next to the hypothalamus. It’s the part of you that determines your genetic heritage. It makes you Chanku. Your mother must have carried the gene and you’ve always had it, but it’s been inactive. It’s passed on from mother to daughter. Sons can be Chanku, but they can’t pass it on to their progeny.”

Mei looked from one to the other. She still squeezed Eve’s hand, holding on to her as if she were a lifeline. “Okay, I get the ancient heritage stuff. But what do you mean by shifting? You don’t really turn into actual wolves. That’s just an analogy, right?”

Oliver glanced at Adam. Adam shrugged. He pushed his chair back, slipped out of his underwear and stood there, a perfect male specimen. Mei’s mouth went dry. It really was a toss up, which one of the men was more beautiful. She glanced at Oliver and he smiled. “Watch Adam.”

“Like that’s a hard thing to do?” She tried to laugh, but the sound caught in her throat. Adam stared at her and suddenly wavered. Before she could blink and clear her vision, he was gone.

No, not gone. Changed. “Oh. My. God.” Mei slipped off the edge of the bed to her knees. She held her hand over her mouth, holding back a scream. Then she shuddered, took a deep breath and held out her hand. It shook, trembling uncontrollably, just like the rest of her body. A wolf stood where Adam had been. A beautiful dark wolf. Not entirely black. His coat was a deep russet, streaked with gold. Darker around the beautiful amber eyes and over his back, yet absolutely perfect. He sat totally still, watching her.
