  • Hot Mama Kama Sutra
If you’re experiencingmoreintensesexualdesire, pregnancymay be the perfect time to explore ways to prolong and vary your love- makingbypracticingtheteachingsofthe Kama Sutra. The Kama Sutra, an ancient Indian text dealing with love and sexuality, sug- gests activities like creating your own love chamber, focusing on kissing, andbuildingsexualtensionduringhoursofplay. During pregnancy, the Kama Sutra advises lovers to concentrate on ac- tivities that stimulate a woman’s vulva and perineum. It also en- courages the woman’s lover to regularly suck on her nipples, readying them for breastfeeding by “toughening” them up. Be- yond the pregnancy precautions we have outlined, the Kama Sutra recommends avoiding positions that:
    • are uncomfortable or painful
    • affect a preggie’s balance
      When to Stop Having Sex
At any point in your pregnancy, Dr. Meulenberg advises that you should stop having sex if:
      • it doesn’t feel good
      • you experience spotting/bleeding or unusual discharge
      • you or your partner has an active genital infection
      • you experience abdominal pain
      • your health-care provider advises against it
What’s Going On with Your Partner
If your partner finds your body arousing or displays a renewed sense of affection, tenderness, and caring toward you, then you’re even better candidates for Kama Sutra practices. So take advantage!

Although pregnancy involves a number of restrictions against
things that can go into your mouth (e.g., caffeine), fortunately a partner’s genitals isn’t on that list. This is great news, because in- tolerable vulval swelling may mean you’re not always in the mood for sexual intercourse. When you or your partner longs to change thingsupabit, orwhenyoujustwantsomethingtofeaston, letyour partnerknowthat yourlatest oral fixation isonhisorherbody.
Interestingly, research shows benefits of fellatio during preg- nancy. A 2002 study found that women who perform oral sex on their baby’s father during pregnancy have safer, more successful
pregnancies. This appears to confirm a 2000 study that indi- cated that swallowing semen during oral sex is correlated with a diminished occurrenceofpre-eclampsia. (Pre-eclampsia, acon- dition that can occur in the final phase of pregnancy, involves an increase in blood pressure, possibly affecting kidney function. It can progress to eclampsia, which can involve convulsions, hyper- tension, andproteinintheurine.) The Dutchresearchersspecu- late that the reason for this effect is because the woman’s immune system more readily accepts her partner’s sperm with regular ex- posure to it. Because pregnancy disorders often stem from the mother’s immune system rejecting the fetus as a “foreign body,” her regular exposure to the father’s “foreign proteins,” which are also found in the baby’s genes, will make her body likelier to ac- cept them. Basically, the antigens found in his sperm can change her immune response toward the baby.
So, Hot Mama, if you can stomach it (and, of course, if his semen doesn’t put you at risk for any sexually transmitted infec- tions), it’s high time to consider swallowing if you aren’t in the habit already. It is believed that the protective effect of oral sex is strongest when a woman ingests her partner’s seminal discharge. You see, aside from the fact that we’re huge fans of head, we’re re- ally promoting it for the sake of a lower-risk pregnancy!

What’s Going on with Your Partner
According to research, a male partner can become closely attuned with a pregnancy, depending on whether he sees it as an opportu- nity for personal growth or a threat. Many men feel great during their partner’s pregnancy. Filled with a sense of renewed potency, they enjoy the intensity and intimacy of pregnant sex. Some even feel that they are nourishing or “ feeding” their partner and baby during intercourse, especially during ejaculation. Others experi- ence heightened awareness before and after they’ve come, with increased physical and emotional sensitivity. Still others experience dreams and fantasies about intercourse, placing them in the role of giver to the woman’s receiver. As previously mentioned, during a partner’s pregnancy men may put on weight, feel gastric upset, experience toothaches and headaches, and even undergo phantom pregnancy. Pops-to-be can find themselves all over the map, just like the preggie herself!

health, ancient civilizations considered female emissions a sa- cred, health-inducing fluid. Witnessing a female ejaculation was actually a divine right of passage in many Near Eastern and South American cultures. Girls in some cultures weren’t considered womenuntiltheycouldsuccessfully“squirtthewall,” therebyele- vating their lovers to “official” manhood for having coaxed her to
climax. (After centuries of being cloaked in misunderstanding and denial, a woman’s ability to emit fluid during climax is once again being celebrated. Pregnancy can be the perfect opportu- nity to exploreandrealizeone’s ejaculatory potential, aspregnant women are known to ejaculate more readily. Check out Deborah Sundahl’s

Even if it doesn’t lead to female ejaculation, cunnilingus af- fords a huge range of benefits for both partners. Whether it’s the main event or foreplay, it can be just the sexual fix the two of you need without involving all-out intercourse. Oral sex can cause orgasm to occur more readily and intensely.
