“He’s
not just putting babies
in
her,” David
mumbled to me. I elbowed him hard in his side to shut him up.

“No,
don’t try to tell him to shut up now. What did you say David?” My mama asked.

“I
didn’t say anything. I’m just messing with him,” he replied with a chuckle.

“Boy
please, you never could whisper. You just said he’s not just putting babies in
her. What does that mean?” She asked.

I’m a grown ass man sitting here like a little
ass boy who’s afraid to speak up for himself. My mama and daddy have a way of
doing that to me.

“Y’all
are pissing me
off,
so somebody better
say something,” my daddy yelled.

“Kennedi
is pregnant,” I said hurriedly trying to get it over with. I waited for the
fireworks to start, but to my surprise, they never did.

“Y’all
get out. Leave my grandson here. I’ll call and tell Brooklyn that we have him.
I’m not about to stress myself into an early grave behind this shit. I never
thought I’d see the day where you start acting just like David,” my daddy said
calmly.

“I’m
good, I’m a one woman man now,” David said with a smirk.

“You
don’t believe that shit yourself. Get
y’all
asses out before I drag
y’all
out,” my
daddy replied sternly.

David
and I stood up and walked out of the room. As soon as we got outside that clown
fell out laughing.

“That
nigga straight put us out,” he laughed.

“I
know, that’s a first,” I laughed with him.

No
matter how mad my daddy got, he never put us out before. I guess I went too far
this time. Things with him actually went better than I thought they would.
David got fussed at because of me just like he always did. My phone started
ringing right when I got to my truck. I got happy when I saw that it was Cal
calling me back. If all went well, I would be a divorced man before Brooklyn
had our baby.

BRYCE

Two
weeks had passed since Taylor and Baby were in the car accident. My car is
still in the repair shop, so I’m driving around in a rental. Jaden and I kept
trying to figure out who would want to hurt Taylor or our sister and for what
reason. They both kept saying that whoever it
was
drove
a black pick-up
truck,
and
only one person came to mind. Larry drives an all-black F-150. He’s also the
only one who has a problem with any of them. He probably saw Taylor in my car and
decided to get her back for what we did to him. I’m really pissed because my
daughters and my nephew were in the car too. Things could have gone far worse
than they did. Then to find out that Baby was pregnant when it happened really
had us heated. Baby being pregnant came as a shock to me, but not as much as
the first time.

When
she got pregnant with DJ, I really thought that we would be the ones to take
care of the baby. Besides a baby shower gift, I’ve never had to do anything for
her or my nephew. Dominic stepped up and handled his business just like he said
he would. He’d officially moved in with Brook since he found out that she was
pregnant. Jaden and I went with him to get the rest of his things from Kennedi’s
house. She was acting a fool when we got there, but Dominic just ignored her.
He’s serious about being with
Brooklyn,
and he really did file for a divorce. Kennedi is really going to go crazy when
she gets those papers.

“Bryce
I don’t know about this,” Taylor said nervously from the passenger’s seat. It
was Sunday
night,
and we were in route to
Larry’s house to confront him once again. I just need Taylor to knock on the
door,
and we’ll take it from there. Besides
her, I have all three of my brothers riding with me. I don’t know if he’s alone
or not and I need to be prepared.

“Taylor
I just need him to see that it’s you so he’ll open the door. You know I would
never do anything that might put you at risk,” I assured her.

“Once
he opens the door we’ll take it from there,” Jaden said. He lives for this kind
of
shit,
and he’s ready for battle.

“We
don’t even know if it was him who ran us off the road,” she said. She was
getting on my nerves with all of this whining.

“Taylor,
just do what I told you to do and stop being so damn scary,” I snapped. I made
a mistake talking crazy to
her,
and I
knew it.

“Nigga.
you asked for my help,” she said pointing to herself and
snaking
her neck. “Don’t act like you’re doing
me no damn favors!”

“Alright,
I’m sorry. Just knock on the
door,
and
you can come back and sit in the car if you want to,” I said apologetically.

“I
don’t give a damn who does what just as long as I can get to his ass,” Jaden
said.

Caleb and Brian were quiet, but they’re down for
whatever. Jaden is always the rowdy and most vocal out of us all. When we
pulled up to Larry’s house, I expected to see the truck parked in his driveway
or in front of his door. Instead, there was a newer model silver Avalanche in
its place. It’s been a while since we paid him a
visit,
so it’s possible that he doesn’t even live here anymore. The
only way for us to know for sure is to let Taylor knock on the front door.

“You
think he moved?” Jaden asked me.

“I
was thinking the same thing,” I replied.

“That’s
not his truck. Somebody else probably lives here,” Taylor said.

“Maybe
he just got a new truck. He probably fucked his old one up when he ran
y’all
off the road,” Brian observed.

“You
might be right Brian. Let’s get out and see what’s up,” I instructed. I backed
my rental car up to the side of the house where it wouldn’t be seen. It’s
positioned for us to hop in and peel off fast if we need to. Taylor walked up
the steps, but my brothers and I jumped across the side railing so we wouldn’t
be seen once the door was opened. Jaden was the first one by the door. He wanted
to pull him out if or when he opened the door. Taylor looks so nervous. I hate
to put her in the middle of this, but I really didn’t have a choice.

“Alright
Taylor, knock on the door,” Jaden instructed.

Taylor
knocked, but it was too soft for anybody to hear it. We’re standing right
here,
and I barely heard anything.

“Knock
harder than that Taylor,” I whispered harshly. She rolled her eyes at me and
started pounding on the door with her fist. A few seconds passed without
anything happening. I motioned with my hand for her to do it again. She knocked
again,
and I heard Larry’s voice on the
other side of the door.

“I’m
coming,” he yelled right before snatching the door open. He didn’t even ask who
it was before he opened it. He paused when he saw Taylor standing there, but he
quickly got upset.

“Bitch….”
was all he was able to get out before Jaden punched him in his face. When he
went stumbling to the floor, my brothers and I rushed into his house and closed
the door behind us. Taylor was supposed to be sitting in the car, but she came
inside with us. Larry was trying to get up, but Jaden stopped him before he
did.

“Stay
your punk ass on that floor and don’t move,” he yelled. “Why would your stupid
ass open the door without seeing who it was first?”

“I
thought
y’all
was the pizza man,” Larry mumbled
while holding his mouth as the blood poured from it like water.

“Stupid
moves like that will get you killed, but I guess you know that now,” Jaden
said.

“Man,
what’s going on? I don’t need any more problems from
y’all
,” he said still holding his bloody mouth.

“You’re
really not in the position to be talking shit right now,” I told him.

“Man,
I didn’t do anything. I stayed away from Taylor just like I said I would.”

“Well,
two weeks ago a black truck that looks just like yours ran my girl and my
sister of the road. My daughters and my nephew were in the car with them,” I
raged.

“What!
Man, that wasn’t me. I don’t even have that truck anymore,” he screeched.

“Nigga,
you probably don’t have it anymore since you used it to run them off the road,”
Jaden yelled.

“Man,
I swear that wasn’t me. I haven’t had that truck in over six months. I traded
it in for the one you see in my driveway. I have the paperwork to prove it,” he
swore.

“Get
up and go get it,” Jaden ordered. “And I’m coming with you so you better not be
on no bullshit.”

Larry jumped up and walked to the back of his
house with Jaden and Brian hot on his heels. It took them a few minutes, but
all three of them came back in at the same time. Larry had a wet towel covering
his mouth while Jaden looked over the paperwork in his hands.

“That
nigga is telling the truth,” Jaden said with a frown. He was ready for war, but
it seems that it would have to wait. Now I was really confused as to who came
after my family. Taylor stood up and walked to the door with Larry watching her
the entire time. Just
then,
something
came to me that I didn’t address before. I walked over to him and quickly
delivered two punches that had him on the floor once again.

“That’s
for calling my girl a bitch,” I said before walking away. I grabbed Taylor’s
hand and headed for the door.

“And
next time
see
who’s at your door before
you open it up dumb ass,” Jaden said laughing.

We
hopped in the car and pulled off right as the pizza delivery car pulled up.

“What
the hell made you deal with that lame ass nigga?” I asked Taylor. “His ass can’t
even fight,”

“The
same thing that made you deal with Tiffany. That bitch can’t fight either,” she
shot back.

We
rode the rest of the way in silence. I was deep in thought trying to figure out
who could have been behind the attack on my family. The streets
talked,
so we were bound to find out
eventually. Until then I just had to keep a close eye on my loved ones.

CANDACE

“Damn,”
I breathed heavily as I dropped down to the floor. I was at David’s
house,
and we had been
sexing
each other all day. I was about to leave when he pulled me
back and blew my back out right in his front room. My legs felt like
noodles,
and I couldn’t stand up anymore.

“Stop
talking that shit, I told you that you couldn’t hang with me,” David bragged.
He stood up naked in all his magnificent glory and walked to the back of his
house. David looked great in clothes, but the view is even better when he was
naked. We had
been
kicking it for a few
months, but we still weren’t a couple. I’m feeling
him,
and I know he feels the same. Fear is the only thing that
keeps me from telling him. I wouldn’t mind being with only him, but I was too
scared to make the first move. Co-Co keeps telling me to do it before it’s too
late, but I just couldn’t. As of right now, we are only friends with benefits.

“Open
up so I can freshen up Ms. Kitty,” David said smiling. He kneeled down in front
of me with a warm soapy towel and cleaned me up. He does this every time we
have
sex,
and I love it. When he was
done,
I got up from the floor and put my
clothes back on. I sat on the sofa and looked for something to watch on TV.

“You
want me to order us something to eat?” David asked when he came back into the
room. I couldn’t help but stare at him when he walked in wearing nothing but
his boxers.

“No,
I’m leaving
in
a little while. I’ll get
something to eat before I go home,” I replied.

“You
don’t have to leave. Spend the night with me.”

“I
would, but I didn’t bring any extra clothes with me.”

“I
told you before that you could leave some stuff over here if you want to,” he
offered.

“That’s
funny because Brook and Dominic said that you
did
n’t
like females leaving things at your house.”

“Usually
I don’t, but this is different,” he admitted.

“What
makes this any different than before?” I asked.

“I’m
really feeling you. I like how we interact with each other. It’s not forced. It
just feels natural,” he replied.

“I’m
really feeling you too,” I finally admitted.

“Good,
so now we need to make it official.”

“Official?”
I asked with raised eyebrows.

“Yeah,
like me and you together in a relationship,” he explained.

I
felt butterflies in my
stomach,
and I don’t
quite know why. This isn’t the first time a man has asked me to be in a
relationship, but this time it feels different. I’ve actually been considering
the exact same thing.

“I
don’t know David. You and I are so much alike until it’s scary. I have a crazy
past,
and I know you do too.”

“I
know that, but that’s the past just like you said. It’s been a minute since I’ve
vibed with somebody the way I’m vibing with you. I can’t lie, I’m kind of
nervous about being in a relationship, but I’m willing to try if you are. I’m
getting too old to be running through females like I do. I’m ready to chill
with one
woman,
and I want you to be the
one.”

“I’m
willing to try this with you, but I’m not one for the games. I don’t have a
problem walking away. And please tell all of your
hoes
that you’re off the market. I would hate to have to beat you
and one of them bitches down,” I said seriously.

“Damn,
you threatening me already,” he said laughing. “But you have some loose ends to
tie up as well. You need to let all your niggas know that the kitty has officially
been locked down.”

“That’s not a problem,” I replied.

“That’s
what’s up. Now let me go get dressed so we can go get you some clothes from
your house,” he said standing to his feet.

I
was so excited that I couldn’t stop smiling. I can’t wait to tell Co-Co and
Brooklyn that I’m officially in a relationship. It will take some time for me
to get used to having a boyfriend.
